Root [GUIDE][LGNPST] Alternate V6 Restore Method [Updated 5-24-11]

Did you enter *.*

Yes, nothing changes, the same folders remain.

Figured that out, but now when I hit start it says "the file can't be opened"

Edit: Figured it out, I had to get the original folder out of the recycle bin in transfer some files over the shortcut.

Step #28 is not working now...

if I do this to change my firmware will my flashed LG Ally go back to Verizon? I'm flashed to metropcs right now and I don;t want this to mess up my flash

i'm trying to fix my friend's Ally. he tried to flash Velocity .03 on it and he didn't partition his SD card or something. now it's stuck in a bootloop that goes from the LG screen, the Verizon Wirelss screen, then the Verizon animation, and then it restarts.
i'm stuck on step 15 because the phone won't show up in the LGNPST program. the LG USB drivers are installed but i don't know if the usb debugging is on, and i don't think i can turn it on.i'm using a Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. i've run the program as an administrator, i've run it for compatibility, i'm not sure if i did something wrong or if it's just the phone..

Have you tried just going into recovery doing a FULL wipe and a fresh flash? I know that doesnt help you with this but i just wante to make sure you arent making things more difficult than they need to be.

Power down, hold end+menu+send to reboot into recovery and then you need to wipe userdata/cache/dalvikcache. If its amonra recovery this will be under the "wipe" menu, if it clockwork the data and cache will be at the main menu and dalvik will be under advanced. I think with both you use the dpad to navigate, amonra use enter to select and voldown to go back. After wiping everything try rebooting. If it doesnt work try rewiping and reflashing the rom.

OK I thought that I could just stick my wifes phone on the computer and use the LGNPST that I had set mine up with months ago. I thought this because all the files like the vs740zv6 stuff was still there.

Now it has killed her recovery and it bootloops the original punisher intro with the waving androids.

Kinda lost here death.

Thanks in advance.

Never Mind
Just did this and did a data factory reset and all is good.

Press and hold send menu end like you normally would only this time have the keyboard open. Let go at LG logo. As soon as you let go repeatedly press the home button on the keyboard until you get greeted by a menu.

I was at ZV6 and now am going thru the updates to 2.2.2

Glad you got it all worked out steve. Im sorry i missed your call bro, i was sleeping =P. Feel free to gimme a call if you need anything else bro.

LGNPST will not recognize that my ally is plugged in. This may be due to USB debugging not being turned on, but Im not sure. In the past whenever I plugged my phone the computer would recognize it and then think it was unplugged repeatedly. I cannot access usb debugging because my phone is in a continuous bootloop and the only way I can get around this is by accessing ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7, otherwise my phone is useless. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Im an idiot, I CORRECTLY downloaded the drivers and I am continuing the process. MY mistake!

Can't get LGNPST to list the vs740.dll file. It doesn't really register my phone. It sees iy's software revision, VS740ZVE, but not the device.

Got It. I am the administrator on my Windows 7 box. I had to run the cmd.exe as administrator in order for vs740.dll to load correctly.
Alls good now.
Thanks!

Just as an FYI, I did not do the OTS updates because I was going back to Tridents instructions. I didnt do this because I just overlooked it on my test. It seemed to load the velicity ROM fine never the less.

Oh, and thanks man. You guys rule

Without further ado I bring to you the:

This magic wonder tool makes it a little easier to get LGNPSTed. Simply download the ZIP package extract somewhere you can get to like your desktop, run LGNPST.bat and follow the on screen instructions!

I dont take any credit for this method, D2A is the super awesome master of LGNPST and I used his (this) guide to build the automator. It is not 100% automatic, you will need to set some things in the LGNPST program, but there will be a instructions document to help you get it right.

couple of notes:

1) The .bat file tries to run "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\LGNPST.exe", however, the .exe which is actually there is called LGNPST_General.exe. So, it doesn't run. When I manually run it, the program says I need a dongle.

2) I tried using this instead of the original steps because the LG software kept telling me it could not connect to my device (after it had already connected and established communications). It seemed to only say this when it was actually at the step of uploading info to my phone. Kept telling me to remove the battery, etc. and try again. Saw someone else had this same problem and your batch file was recommended. But that isn't working for me, either :(

3) Android 2.2.2 Baseband VS740MVE.6040.1001, kernel 2.6.32.9, s/w VS740ZVE

Any help would be very much appreciated!!

I am seeing a LGNPST.exe found in C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\ not sure why it isn't there for you, but your the 2nd person to mention this so I'll look into it, let me know if you find out why - it's there for me but not others.

If you are already on 2.2.2 why would you go through all the troubles of downgrading? To get fastboot back? The only time you should need to downgrade to get Velocity 1.1 is if you are running a Pre-2.2.1 custom rom, and need to downgrade/go back to stock to apply the 2.2.1 radio update.

If you have fastboot (if the phone wasn't shipped to you with 2.2.2) you can just run FroyoLiteWin and fastboot everything in.

Since you have 2.2.2 already you could even just root with gingerbreak and then just flash velocity

Well i did everything right and i run the LGNPST.exe from the desktop shortcut i created.
When the program loads and everything it does recognize the Model VS740 and i put the right files and everything
but the STATUS says its on "Stand By" and when i click START i get an error window that says, "ERROR: Unable to load [LGNPST_Utility4.dll] Component Path= Version= HR=0x80040154"

I don't know what else to try.

are you on xp or 7? i dint know how to fix that, try rebooting the pc, then try uninstalling and starting from square one. maybe someone could tell you what the error is and why but the best i can do is say try again, I've used this quite a few times and never had that issue and I've never seen it.

you will have to make sere you have something to root you phone if your like me and the only net you have is tethering but after looking on the next useing only my phone i fond something that works good and thank you for this man it worked very good with my phone and it fixed my 3g thing that was going on

at step 15 the "go to File>Select DLL, and choose the VS740.dll file" part, there is nothing on the list o_o. the stuff for step 13 with the command prompt was successful and i tried restarting my computer, but the list is still empty..
