Official "Goodbye Droid X" Thread

Trolling the Bionic forums for now. Waiting a couple of weeks to see what's really good and bad about the B.

I did go to a Verizon store to look at it today. Holding my X next to it, it's only slightly larger on all dimensions. We're talking mm's.

Screen navigation and app loading were snappy. MUCH faster and smother than my X. And 4G in the Nashville, TN market is amazing! Yes, WiFi was off.

Yea, I'm hooked, but no good byes until I'm sure I get a good buy.:D

I was all over the Bionic. Well months ago that is. From what I heard it was supposed to be everything and a bag of chips.

From what I am hearing now, that does not seem to be the case.

I will gladly wait to see what the Prime and Vigor are like.

The screen is missing the chips.....lol

@P3Droid: Okay banding in the bionic is noticable at times, screen is the kryptonite of the awesome device. Its not a deal breaker for me.

Could someone please pass the chips? :D

Enjoy it! Be sure to stop in here and say Hi from time to time, and to make us jealous! :p Good luck! :D

Mine was the official one! hehe...

In other news, still haven't received my bionic. I think I got hosed by costco.com. Who knows when I'll get it...

I'm with those who choose to wait a while to let the phone get dev support and the bugs worked out. I got my X in Dec of last year, which was months after the initial release. I don't plan to wait that long after the next big phone release but a month is a good rule of thumb IMO.

For shame on Moto with this phone. It was late to the game anyway and should have been flawless (or close to it imho) considering the wait.

No 4G phone for me until there is 4G in my area. I just love all the people around here that say "I have a 4G phone". Uh.............

At least their battery will last longer :p

I'm getting 4G in my area supposedly some time this year ( 3 1/2 months left in the year, we'll see) ;)

well let me clarify that better, better not be encrypted

yes your right being locked can be unlocked with some sort of ease.

being encrypted (all moto phones after the OG Droid) are not easy to get by. i will purchase it, and if its encrypted im just going to cry

I've always been confused about encrypted phones. What can you do with an unencrypted phone that you can't do with an encrypted one? The DX has ROMs and all sorts of goodness, what are we missing which would make someone want to switch?

(See what I did there? That last bit put it right on topic.)

I doubt it will be encrypted, I think other companies have smarter execs. than Moto does, thank goodness for that :D

I probably would have jumped on the Bionic but since I had the lowest plan available on my X (450 minutes) they didn't deem me worthy of an upgrade till March....which I got changed to January after a good bit of arguing with them.

Just as well, I'm a phone gadget freak and this was a check to hold my horses. Not crazy about pentile though I didn't notice the screen door issues until my face was just a few inches from the phone. I was bothered though by what I perceived as white 'strobing'. That is, when you scroll the screen the white dims and then returns to normal intensity.

In any case, I'll be all over the Prime when it comes out. Assuming it is cracked up to be what the rumors are reporting.

Unless you're in a 4G market, save your money. I did several side by side, simultaneous tests and my unrooted 1st generation Droid X was just as fast. Your DX's are not as obsolete as you think......
