***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Correct me if i am WAY off base here but...............

With absolutely no info about the "Prime", VZW skips over the Sammy SGII, and it is rumored that we all (Moto owners) will be very happy with the new VZW release.............

Could it be that the phone VZW is going to have in place of the SGII is the newest Moto phone, the RAZR ??????

It does have very similar specs to the SGII and as others have said, VZW and Moto are best friends.

Talking out loud.....................

Then there is maybe the "Prime" on another carrier......... :(:(

I don't think so. Verizon knows they got screwed sticking with the Bionic.
They had no choice in the matter. Verizon had a contract with Moto and they had to stick to it. That is probably why Verizon had to pass on the SGSII.

Could you imagine if Samsung and Verizon announce on Sept. 4.2011 that they where going to sell the SGSII in September. Verizon would have been sued and lost money all the way around. So instead they made a deal with Samsung on a slightly better phone then the SGSII.

I have to respectfully disagree vandyman. If Verizon was going to carry the SGSII that deal was made well before the Bionic was cancelled.

Yep! I really don't know for sure.
I was just using my logic from reading rumors from the Summer months.

PS. Whats with all these rumors and no facts....:p

another pre-release thread ;)

This one has remained VERY civil though. Man the Bionic threads were littered with bickering and name calling
I have not read anything in the Bionic thread. The Bionic is not for me.
I am here waitng for the BIG NEWS..:)

Man , I have never been so whacked out about a cell phone since the Moto Q. Thats when Moto was a good company. So come on Samsung before I have to go and see the Doc for help!

I think partly because people who had no intention to buy Bionic were trashing it to the people who were trying to stay positive and were hoping for their dream phone.

It does get contentious on these boards at times. I know I've spewed plenty of venom towards HTC and Thunderbolt. But that was after I wasted my money on it. Well, truthfully, not a total waste...but disappointing just the same.

If fruit phone fanboys came in here attempting to burst our Prime bubble, it would heat up I'm sure. I saw more than one poster in here "poking the bear" over there and then come hear and comment on it. I don't get that.

Let em come in here and start some trouble.
I am like a squirrel. I'll just go nutz and crave that apple into a prune.

Well, we could always talk megapixels again w/the folks who want a big number at the same time they acknowledge it has nothing to do w/picture quality. Happy now CK? :D

Isn't a large part of how long it takes for a new model release on Verizon due to their testing methods?
Would some of that time be due to all the bloat ware they have to teat run and tweak?

I seen most of that bickering and it seems like some folks on many forums don't know how to agree to disagree. A their way or the highway kind of thing.

The thin of skin need not apply eh?

ive been waiting patiently for a phone like the prime to surface. Im still using this damn droid eris. all i want is a general time frame for release and for a solid, impressive piece of hardware. If it comes out and its another verizon flop, i will be irreversibly pissed off. ;)

The Droid Eris???

Dear God! I felt like I stepped from a Dodge Neon to a McLaren F1 when I upgraded from the Eris to the DX. I can't imagine how it will be for you when you get a piece of the sammie phone if the rumors do come true.

and now imagine (the worst scenario):

the nexus prime comes out in late november with following specs:

4.5" WVGA Super Amoled Screen (Pentile)
1.2 GHz Dual-Core: Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 Turbo
768MB Ram
16GB Internal Storage, no microSD-Karten-Slot
Only 3G & HSDPA+ with 21Mbit/s (no 4G, no HSDPA with 42mbit/s)
Android 4.0 (ok that's the only good point)
1600mA/h battery
5MP RF-Camera (max. 720p video recording)
No Frontfacing Camera
Plastic-body (no metal as its rumored)
Still Buttons on the frontside
Huge size -> Too big for our pockets
overpriced

This would suck, right?
All of our wait would be wasted, but that wouldn't be Google's or Samsung's fault, because they never said that the nexus prime would be an awesome device...

all just of frickin' rumours...

damn rumours, i hate them and i love them

(And i'm still waiting for the nexus prime to arrive in germany ... :D )

Again, I ask, does it not seem STRANGE that we have so little solid info at this late stage ofcthe game? It's the end of Sept. We're talking 2 months away....and nit one fuzzy picture, no really good leaks, (except poems and a few encouraging words from our favorite sister)......to be this close.....with practically nothing.......this is not normal.

I'm not necessarily waiting for the nexus prime. I'm waiting for an awesome phone to come to verizon, it just so happens the prime seems to be the one too keep an eye on for now.

The most important thing for me is Google updates (although I suspect that may never come to Big Red).

I would love if it still had buttons on the front side. That is the thing I am going to dislike the most about ICS I think.

@GrandmaDroid: I really don't remember how much heads-up we all had when the OG Droid came out, but it wasn't long.

I heard rumors, joined forums, and we shared stuff. From the time we first heard about it until Launch Day was a very short span of time. I think it was in the time frame of days and weeks, not weeks and months.

I will submit: we weren't watching FCC and all that stuff back then (at least I wasn't), but it seems that the Droid sort of sprang up out of nowhere in a hurry.
I suppose Verizon is trying to do this again... and they seem to be doing a great job of it.

Agreed. Also, if this is in fact a google device launching with ICS, one must think it's to be under extra tight wraps until google unveils ICS.
