***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I like the idea of no physical button for the camera. The gold flake on my OG Droid was so pretty but rubbed off within a month or so. . .

they could just not paint them? Lol my og Droid camera button paint didn't last long either. But having to use the on screen button for my incredible, I definitely prefer a physical button. But oh well. Its basically a dead trend. I like how the iPhone uses the volume rocker to snap pictures.

the 4460 also has a higher clocked gpu than the 4430. if there are any issues, it's apparently getting it to run at 1.5ghz, which is one of 2 reasons we'd see it run at 1.2 instead of 1.5. battery life would be the other

had not noticed that before, what a waste. i'm sure the cm team will fix that for us

....what would you suggest be there instead when the screen is locked?

For you. If Nov. 3 turns out wrong, you'll never work in this town again. :p

ehhh sh*t happens. If the date ends up being wrong so what. Meaning if the date is not the 3rd i will not think any differently of Steven than i do now.

Heck BGR was major wrong on their Iphone speculation. Along with multiple other sites/people.

If we're now the source of news...we must now be some sort of global sentience? Like, a...COLLECTIVE?

WE ARE THE BORG! YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED!

Well if they come to this thread, they'll read all about Steven's texting & driving. Guess he's toast now -- anybody else wanna mod?

There'll be a job opening after this thread is done, if anyone's interested. I'm tuckered out. :p

Thanks to Steven for keeping the OP up to date with the good info. I normally like to lurk in the these threads for info, but the amount of chatter has made that impossible.

It doesn't show the nexus. But if you were a company about to help anounce the "game changer," I would drop an advert reminding everyone that its 4G network is the best...just before the big day!

But i see VZW 4G ads all of the time. Also they're adding new cities this week so that is why they may be pushing more ads.

I think you're reading too much into that. Just about every Verizon commercial ever has been about their network.

@UBR, wasn't that the purpose of the ICS revamp? get manufacturers away from using skins

Honeycomb wasn't supposed to be skinned either... That didn't last long. Manufacturers seem to feel the need to "improve" the phones by adding skins that include mostly bloatware and lag. In the future, I predict that sluggish software will be a dealbreaker for MOST people... as it should be.

My Tbolt runs pretty well compared to most...no credit to HTC however. It's just time for Android Manufacturers to step up. I don't want to see a skin again. We want Google software and we want that software to be optimized for the hardware. We want sexy and functional designs and we want the phone to receive fast updates. How long do we have to scream for it. At least some people like sense and touchwiz but I have never heard anyone say "I want Motoblur." Yet there it is...on almost every phone they produce. Why??? It's just one more thing we have to remove to make the phone work well. I feel so bad for non rooters... They get screwed!

Sorry to pick on moto but they don't listen to what people want. I like the hardware but your software is a joke. My D3 is so laggy and it shouldn't be based on the hardware it has. Hopefully ICS eliminates this...or at least reduces it.

I don't think you can entirely blame the manufacturers for the skins. Previous versions of Android did have room for improvement and that's what they tried to do. Now in a lot of cases they did a horrible job. You also need to put some blame on the carriers as well for their bloatware that they embed into the ROMs. Things like VZ Navigator and Amazon MP3 that constantly autostart and consume resources. But like I said the skins came about to try to improve the interface. One thing I couldn't live without from HTC Sense is that it will do push email from Hotmail. The default Android email app will only do push from an Exchange server.

I blame the manufacturers for the skins and I blame the manufacturers along with the carriers for the bloatware. You don't need a skin to add support for hotmail. My Transformer supported micro SD cards even though stock Android didn't. All Asus changed were the software button designs and they added some widgets. That's cool with me and I appreciate the effort because it came without a tradeoff.

I like everything about Sense except for the performance decrease it always represents and because of Sense...software updates are not timely...just ask Tbolt owners. Then you have the Nexus S and Fascinate which were very similar phones but were two versions of Android apart for the longest time...that's unacceptable IMO.

Verizon customers haven't had a high end Android phone running stock Google since the first Droid. That is
ridiculous and why the Prime is so refreshing to me. You shouldn't have to root to run optimized software.

I read on another board that Prime might not have a user removable battery. Not sure why they feel that way. Are there Android phones with non-removable batteries? I'd be screwed if this Tbolt didn't have a removable battery.

Come on Bears, dammit! Freaking lions wiping the floor with them. . . if we don't get Prime news tomorrow, this week will be a wash.

2 and 3. Freaking bears.

Only reason to do that would be to make the build sturdier and make the device thinner. Having a removable battery adds thickness to the phone. But I hope this phone does offer thinness and the removable battery. :D

I am pretty sure that I read that the Droid Razr would also not have a removable battery.:(

sounds reasonable unless they are planning on making curved batteries.

Based on the leaked pics/renderings that is (i.e. the amt of curve they show).

Here's to hoping for some news soon. I think we'll hear something this week. Just a hunch though.

P.s. Don't worry about the lions, they won't get to 6-0 ;)
