oh i misunderstood what you meant. yeah wifi will work if you're just wanting to mess around with it. you can activate the phone to use can't you? i know they don't use sim cards, but i'm sure all you have to do is call them to activate the nexus s right?

but if you take a look at those 2 benchmark results (#1 #2) you can see that the Lg Optimus 3D's PowerVr SGX540 (clocked at ~300MHz) is about 40% weaker than the SGS2's Mali 400MP4-GPU...

its said that the OMAP 4460's SGX540 will be clocked at ~380MHz, so an increase of about 25%...

25% <-> 40%

-> Mali 400MP4 would still be faster and that's why i guess the N____ P____ won't have an Omap 4460 (exception: maybe my calculations are wrong, i don't know, if the are, tell me pls)

Would the nexus have been competing against the 4s in this category? Does apple go to ctia?

and for me (german - so in europe; right outside the us) its nicer to hear something about a release in europe... not everyone here is american, don't forget about that ;)

i can't find any single information about apple having a booth on CTIA so i'd guess apple isn't there...

Why do you make the leap that, to win the award, it would necessarily have to have the fastest GPU?

The GPU only has to be fast enough. Fast enough to run the games. Fast enough to have a good frame rate. If the difference is 15%, which isn't all that much, it could easily be a slower GPU but with other mitigating factors like a stellar screen, or the highest resolution, or excellent touch response, or a comfortable form factor. Hell, given its new OS, the OS may actually process games better thus allowing better performance even with a slower processor - and since the Prime is the only phone with ICS, that would be a specific advantage to this phone.

Yeah, it def. could be for the global version but if Verizon is supposed to be first to get it then this is very very good news IMO. Here's hoping to a very eventful Tuesday!!

yeah i think so, too... and those mentioned specs are kinda equal to the GSMArena-ones (1.5GHz exynos soc, 2000mA/h ([ok it was said to have 2050mA/h, but its closer to that as the other leaks with 1750/1850])...

that makes me believe in the prime as a beast with the exynos soc even harder...

Been watching this thread for a while, thought i would finally jump in. So keen for the prime.

Just a silly question, but is there any chance that with one of the rumours being sammy has some new lte chips in the thing, that could np support more then just 700mhz band lte.

I'm hoping yes.

However, I have no idea if that's the "World" version or the "Verizon" version. .

I think that means it's releasing November 3. Steven's source, P3Droid, and BMX are all saying the same thing. I think it's a lock.

I think he tweeted that because a lot of people have been saying it's coming October 27, or that it was delayed because of the postponed CTIA announcement.

I saw that back when it first came out but I completly missed the Exynos mention, wasn't even thinking about it back then I guess. Good catch.

And what about last report from the UK - we're seing it much faster than we think. Maybe it's about europe-all around the world version, and US must wait longer? Niach niach niach... :D :p ;)

I would say it's very unlikely that it will have 4G bands other than the 700 MHz Verizon LTE band. It may support other 3G bands as a "world phone."

I think that sometimes P3 is right, sometimes P3 is wrong, and it should be treated with the same giant pile of salt that everything else should be treated. He's already said that the Prime would have VZW bloatware, and then the app list leaked with no bloatware. He's at the mercy of his source(s) which are clearly not 100% reliable.
 
Holy smokes, I think I'm going to go home (and still get paid) today! After a 1/2 hour of work! Woo hoo!
