Now that I am done mourning my pathetic football weekend, I can start focusing on what's important, my next phone. I am ready for more leaks. Unless this thing is extremely underwhelming, I know I am getting it. So one of the things that I would love to see start leaking, is some accessories. A car dock, a desktop cradle, anything!!!

Two weird guys? Its Alton Brown (famous) and Denis Lynch (Goggle engineer), lolz....

Ok.. and what? Still nothing new to the device info.
Don't understand me wrong, we approciate your iniciative! That's really cool, but that's why I suupose no one is excited about it so much. One, maybe two shots like that are totally enough.

Thanks, good job!

The only camera shots we've seen so far have been on Picasa where they auto reduce the resolution to around 3.0 MP. As far as I know, we have not yet seen any photos taken with this phone at their full resolution yet so I'm not going to start panicking until I do.

Though I would say this latest pic looks at least as good if not better than anything my DInc could take with it's 8MP camera.

Agreed the dinc cam is subpar, I pretty much hate mine now...
The aperture @ 2.75 is pretty exciting though!

Welcome to the show Jimmy. I have to say if you're looking for the latest and greatest, the Prime should be great for you. What are you looking to use it for? Actually a phone, fun and games, email and web? Have you looked into any tablets too? They're a ton of fun for relaxing on the couch, surfing the web or playing some games. However, coming from a non-smartphone, the monthly bill may be a bit to swallow (I know it was for me). But, if your daughter will be covering the costs, go for it!

Thanks for the welcome. I plan to use it (Prime) for any and all things you suggest. Being retired I thankfully have a lot free time to learn new things. Or waste time as my wife says. Tablets, yes: we bought a HP Touchpad in the fire-sale and await the hopefully Android port. The Touchpad

So now we know where the October 27 rumors were coming from
Samsung to hold event on 27 October... But not for Nexus Prime - Pocket-lint

Hopefully that means the NP announcement is sooner (i.e. the rumored 18th/19th) rather than later :)

Just one problem though... The 19th is the day Apple is holding a memorial service for Steve Jobs... Would Samsung/Google announce a device they'd already delayed out of respect for Steve Jobs on that day?
If they DO announce it, we'll know his passing was just a convenient excuse.

Tablets, yes: we bought a HP Touchpad in the fire-sale and await the hopefully Android port. The Touchpad’s Bluetooth keypad works great with the Bionic. It's still fun and cheap to play with. We have an 11 year old grandson who keeps us on our toes with his advanced knowledge of the latest technology. We did have to add the 2GB data plan to my wife's new phone since we can't get our daughter's unlimited data plan but the cost is very reasonable. We also have hooked the Bionic up to our Samsung big screen by a long HDMI cable. Very nice. My wife has become addicted to Angry Birds, figures right?

Great to have you here, Jimmy. There was a nice post on Engadget about a (almost complete) working CyanogenMod 7 (Android) for the Touch Pad this morning.
CyanogenMod for TouchPad alpha released, is surprisingly functional (video) -- Engadget
Will take some skill to get it on there, but being a retiree, I'm sure you got plenty of time ;)

On the camera shots I'm not really looking for resolution but rather focus, color saturation, hue, noise, and contrast. The focus looks good, but the others are leaving me underwhelmed. Look at the amount of noise in the software guy's dark shirt...

I can not believe how deep the BS is in here.
Two weeks ago there were people in here arguing about the Ti processor would not be in the device they claimed that there was a shortage and the chip would not be available. Now the same people are saying that it will be a TI chip. And the same was said about the Exynos as well.
" still sampling,Blah, blah, blah " In either case you made a fool of you self. Because it will have one or the other.

And then you have people not sticking to there so called sources jumping ship on everything including ICS.

The point is there are opinions, rumors and just plain stupidness.:p

It will be released with the Qualcomm and we will share a huge laugh together :)

From my understanding of the time zones, it will actually be the 18th in the US if it is held in Hong Kong.

All I know is those pictures are much better than what my Eris takes. Good enough for me.:D

Introducing the Nexus jamaican beef patty.

Mmmm...beef patty

Not that I've taken many, but they're better than my Bionic :(

And hopefully the pictures will snap in less than 10 seconds. Has anyone tried to take a picture of a toddler or a dog on the Bionic? The toddler is usually in tears by the time it snaps, and the dog is just a blur of fur.

Good morning, fellow Primelings!

I finally caught up to you guys.

Actually, I'm not sure the nexus line ever had the best hardware, or was very quickly eclipsed.

The point of the Nexus line is that it's a hardware point for Google to design thier new OS version. That's pretty much it. Original Nexus didn't have revolutionary specs, the Nexus S didn't, and neither will the Prime.

I'm OK with that, because the vanilla OS, faster updates and unlocked bootloader, coupled with ICS on Verizon makes this a phone worth looking at.

Couldn't agree more, Nj02vette. Nexus has always been about the OS. This phone's most important feature will be ICS, not the specs. Even if it released with the highest specs possible, it would be eclipsed within 4 to 6 months tops. ICS + DIRECT UPDATES FROM GOOGLE is the true showpiece here, and that will easily last us the entirety of our 2 year contracts! :)

. . . . I stalk the best hardware and pounce on only the meatiest of prey. Ill let the youngins eat the gazelle I'll wait for the 1 ton Water Buffalo :)

Yeah, but look at yourself, CK. You're starving! You gotta eat, you're skin and bones. :p

droid-life's rumor was that there was an led notification at the bottom center of the phone. seemed odd to me that they'd put one down there since some (if not all) of the gs2 models have it at the top, and that would require a redesign. anyways, i played with the contrast a bit and i faintly see a proximity sensor and led notification between the cam and speaker grill. could be my eyes...what's everyone think?

I see it! I see it!

2 days later and no announcement...are we still saying the announcement is "imminent"? I know Google has their earnings call tonight, I would have thought for sure they would have an announcement out before then. It's taking them a long time to reschedule this thing, I'm starting to wonder if there isn't more than just mourning Mr. Jobs going on here.

Depends on what Steven's source's definition of "imminent" is. . . .for us, it's within a few hours. For the normal person, it could be a week. Also, I remember that he/she said that Verizon was having communication issues with Samsung and Google or something. . Maybe he/she thought that it would be announced on a certain date, but given that he/she works for Verizon, he/she might not be privy to latest developments regarding announcement and release. Just a thought.

I'm from Chicago, thanks for your GM.

Sweet, add 1 from Chicago! I agree with the sentiment, not that our stupid Cubs will do anything with him. :( Quade will probably be back, and we'll have another crazy summer with Z. Different GM, same old . . .

Are you scoping out the other hypothetical smartphone that is supposed to target the camera-phile demographic? I think it's the Dinara.

So get this, there is a new picture taken with the Galaxy Nexus up on Picasa taken by Denis Lynch a software engineer for google inc (via google+) taken yesterday, with him and Alton Brown of all people...!!!

I am disappointed in the quality of the camera.

You can't really notice it on that small picture, but look at all the noise on the blue wall in the full size picture:

I realize it is a phone camera, but that looks VERY grainy to me.
