I am hating it, too.

I'm not convinced the name is final. The Droid Incredible didn't get the Droid moniker until a week or less before its release. The first few early shipments didn't have Droid on the box at all.

Yep. I read the T&C and basically it's "currently" free. No doubt Google is either going to (a) charge for it or (b) inject massive advertising into it.

As my Grandma said, the only free cheese is in the mousetrap ;)

Nexus originally meant development phone by Google, here's what you do to build a sustainable platform, we're not going into the phone making business.

We're producing more by popular demand - Nexus means the Google standard phone, only our name is on it.

Galaxy (plain, S, S2) says I am Samsung.

Newcomers to Android need help navigating to find the phone that is right for them.

Just figuring out the questions in Android Lounge can be two full time jobs.

So, yes, it's valid to rise above such a simple thing, but for many, this will create difficulty.

What's in a name? A Roze may smell as sweet, but he who takes my name takes that which enriches him not but makes me a pauper indeed.

I feel that Google should keep going in the simply Nexus ______ path. Everyday i get people asking me what my phone is and im like, Galaxy S. Most of the time, people are like : Thats like an iPhone. I have to answer, No, this is Android etc etc. People are only starting to recognize the Galaxy brand and the Nexus brand
From a marketing point of view, from what i feel, both "franchises" should remain seperate and shouldn't be sleeping with each other. Galaxy S should remain Galaxy S 1 - 2 - 3 and the Nexus should keep being Nexus (add rest here).

Galaxy Nexus just seems so dirty and smushed.

My 2 cents.

Disagree, the 1st Galaxy S was to be avoided, IMO. Fatal problems with hardware and software, and being locked into Bing. I personally know of 3 people that defected to iPhone because they had so many problems with their Galaxy S that they were convinced that all of Android was flawed. If that's the way the 3rd Nexus is going to be, I'll be tapping away on the HTC Vigor.

Uhh...the Galaxy S isn't locked into Bing unless you're on Verizon. The Galaxy S is an amazing phone.

You weren't locked into Bing, as you could install any Google or other service you wanted. Still, I agree that while many bought them, I couldn't stand the original Galaxy S class phones. Way to many problems.

So much so, that I was severely hesitant with the Galaxy SII, but reviews have been quite favorable. Even so, I'm still leary of Samsung's terrible track record with updates, but I don't have to worry about that if this is a true Nexus device.

As long as the hardware is great, I'm good to go.
