***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

There isn't a single soul over 10 in the developed world that hasn't heard of the RAZR. After all, it was only two or three years ago that they finally stopped selling it. I'm one of those young smartphone buyers and I had a razr at 16 6 years ago.

I agree with this. I'm 23, directly in the young smartphone target audience. If I mention the RAZR to any on my non-tech obsessed friends, they will all know what I'm talking about and be greeted with (mostly) fond memories of it.

This is most definitely the ICS launcher from XDA (i.e. fake)...
[App] Ice Cream Sandwich 2.4 Launcher - xda-developers

maybe, maybe not...

we can't know for sure :p

and back to the questions...

the ones i really care about are:

1) the GPU of the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus (how is the gaming experience in complex 3d-games?)
2) the lack of a sd-card-slot (is there really no microSD-Card-Slot? :O)
3) LTE-capable (or is it just HSPA+ ?, and if so 21 or 42?)

all of my 3 questions are refering to the GSM-(world-)version of the NP/GN

Well, had a close call with the og droid. Data stopped functioning. Tried fixing it and lost cell function completely. Thought I was going to have to go pick up a phone tomorrow morning... luckily I fixed it so I can make it another few weeks!

Yeh, my OG dies and I replaced it via Ins. I now have a shiny new OG to lay to rest, sooner or later.

1. Is there an oleo-phobic (spelling?) Coating on the screen?

2. What is the signal strength and call quality as well as speaker volume?

3. Fit and finish?

4. Can I have one for free? Lol

In uncharted territory so I think any of the above questions are valid. We don't even know for sure what VZW is getting out of the fray. The finer points will be announced but many of our tech geek burning questions will need to be asked. I'm hoping that Rob can get a hands on and get deep into that phone to pull out every detail.

But.....but.......I wanna know now. That is it! I am going to hold my breath until this phone is announced!

Me too, on all counts from internal specs to form factor. Those pics look like concept renderings to me, and the thing seems too thin to hold a battery of any size. I wait to see.

Another word: Verizon

Remember we are dealing with the control freaks of the wireless carrier world. :(

The Nexus brand is more important to Google than having it on verizon. I'm certain that Verizon had to agree to Googles terms in order to carry the device, in the same way they had to agree to Apples terms to carry the iPhone.

Edit: Also, keep in mind that Verizon customers aren't the only audience members here. I'm patiently waiting for the Nexus on AT&T, just like there's t mobile and sprint customers here too. Our carriers have offered us, unsubsidized and subsidized, untouched nexus devices since the program started. The "sky is falling" attitude some are displaying, is quite annoying sometimes.

I concur with the questions already put forth. Would also like to know release date (naturally) and preorder options. Processor, camera, GPU. I'd like to watch live on YouTube but not sure if I'll be able. So cool Phandroid will be there!

Does anyone else feel strangely a little disappointed in all the attention this phone is getting? I owned the nexus one and currently have a nexus s, and something I loved about both phones was the fact they were great phones that noone else had. As nexus devices get more coverage and go more mainstream I wonder if nexus will become the new iPhone at which point I'll have the same phone as everyone else, which for me is undesirable. Feel free to flame, I know this is a stupid thought process, just thought maybe I'm not alone in my stupidity.

Flaming Rights!

Well, you could revert back to a Motorola Bag phone and be sure to be the only one. Heh! Mercy, wanting to be the only one eh..........

You may want to use an Avatar from the movie Highlander with a pic of Connor McLeod, "There can only be one".

Your in the wrong place because we all seem to want the same phone here.

Speaking for myself I don't care who get's it and when just if it does come to big red, they and samsung keep their bloatware off it.

OK. Now we can take the two and mix them, or take one or the other out, and all bets are still on the table. We simply do not know and likely won't know until Tuesday at 10PM Eastern. We have an informant who I believe to be truthful, but he/she hints that they have played with some variant of the final. What if the top brass is wrangling right now to come up with a final compromise? What if one has ditched the deal to go with the Nexus name. I know that components have been made and something BIG will come out but we don't know what that something is called. I think that the reason this thread is slow is because everyone knows that we have beat a dead horse for several thousand posts and now it's time to wait for what unfolds or doesn't unfold on Tuesday.

We DO know what factors make up a nexus device. In order for a device to be the next nexus, it has to adhere to certain standards. It's pretty much carrier independent. Google, in partnership with whichever manufacturer won the rights to make it, helps design the phone. Nexus phones are basically developer phones. They have unlocked bootloaders, are bloated free, have vanilla Android, and the updates come straight from Google. This will not change just because Verizon is on board. Like Google will go against everything its tried to create with its nexus brand just to appease ONE carrier.

Announcement No guarantees, but this is your best shot at getting YOUR answer, hot and accurate, straight from the big HK.

Speak up, muchachas and muchachos!

More a question about ICS...

1. When will the next VZW ICS phone be released?

2. Timetable for GB to ICS updates?

If the Nexus brand continues as in the past like you've pointed out then I will be satisfied with the phone, but I still want to hear it officially.

I wonder if Verizon will be as pissy about advertising for this phone as they were for the iPhone 4s. At my Big Red, they had one.....ONE, 8×11 sales ad taped to the outside wall near the front door on release day and the salesman asked my grandson TWICE if he wouldn't to wait for some "exciting droids coming real soon". Ha.....it was quite pathetic all around.

at least the saleman tried haha, but in all honesty, theres not much advertising needed for release day iphones, all the media coverage leading up to the release does the job quite well
