We DO know what factors make up a nexus device. In order for a device to be the next nexus, it has to adhere to certain standards. It's pretty much carrier independent. Google, in partnership with whichever manufacturer won the rights to make it, helps design the phone. Nexus phones are basically developer phones. They have unlocked bootloaders, are bloated free, have vanilla Android, and the updates come straight from Google. This will not change just because Verizon is on board. Like Google will go against everything its tried to create with its nexus brand just to appease ONE carrier.
