***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Did he also say that the space is reclaimed for the app, or just that the buttons become invisible? We've heard reports of the latter before.

He wasn't clear:

"the screen is 4.6 and the bottom part is used for soft buttons. the search bar is only visible on the homescreen. the phone automatically hide them when you enter an app and you can hit the bottom part of the phone to bring them up again."

I just asked if the space is usable? We'll see if he answers.

Oh, I am going mad with anticipation and worry, everyone. I have a bad feeling about the announcement. Wouldn't there be a deluge of leaks of some sort this close? Why is Verizon scheduling an announcement of their own, with RAZR, on the same date? Why won't Verizon be in Hong Kong?

I have done the unthinkable, ladies and gentlemen. I have changed my launcher to something drastic, in case I am screwed yet again by Verizon and have to go with a different phone. Hopefully this launcher will prepare me for what is to come in the near future.

Yes, it is safe for work. But you shall be disgusted nonetheless. Go ahead, have a peek. :(

And don't call me a traitor. I'm not one yet. But if Verizon screws me as they usually do, I won't care anymore. I won't. :(

Oh COME ON, MAN! Man up and get a hold of yourself!! :p

anyone else seen this? whats your thought on this guys take on the situation....

Why the Galaxy Nexus Won't Matter | TechnoBuffalo

iPhone Phanboi.

He's clueless.

Yup

Well, I have never gone out of my way to friend ppl but sent you a request :D. It would be nice if there was a ticker with what your fiends are doing within CP.

There is. That's why I mentioned it. You can see into people's homes when they friend you. ;).

Here's hoping ICS blows us all away.

I have a good feeling about it.

Here is a list of everything Jacob said till now:
( Steven: Feel free to use this for the OP :) )

Build Quality:
- The outside is plastic but it feels nothing like a Samsung phone. My Google employee friend said there is metal inside for support and good feeling
- it has a samsung plastic outside but it doesn't feel that way in hand
- this plastic feels awesome though, like futuristic an stuff
- Its a dark silver

Camera:
- same as gs2 i think, 8mp

Size:
- feels like it's a bit bigger than my thunderbolt
- in between thunderbolt and infuse
- not as drastically curved but super thin! thinner than iphone 4s

Screen: amazing, its 720p

Carriers: [is not sure except for verizon]

Processor: 1.5 ghz dual core TI omap

ICS/Software:
- the browser rocks, its tabbed and super snappy.
- nothing great about the otherapps, just different looks
- sooooo awesome! it is blue like the leaked pics is smooth
- so much more smooth and intuitive, also google's widgets look really nice
- ics has much better hardware acceleration
- [Do the buttons go landscape when the phone is turned landscape, or do they stay where they are?] They turn just like incredible 2
- pure vanilla
- [3D transitions when switching between homescreens?] Not 3D but really smooth, everything flowed nicely just like iOS 5
- [when the buttons hide does that space become usable?] It makes the app fill the space where the buttons were
- [Is there over-scroll inertia?] Yes
- [Browser?] It was just browser but looked like.Google chrome

Speed Test:
- Verizon, about 25mbps down and 10 up

Battery:
- but 1900 mah battery i think
- removable

Name:
- [is it going to be called the Galaxy Nexus?] unless google/verizon/samsung makes a last minute name change, which is possible he said then yes

Release Date:
- no release date guys

Hardware:
- it also has a new LTE modem in it and it is faster
- Touch sensitive bezel
- Dual flash
- Yes an LED next to the speaker grille
- [How big is the hump?] Its about the same as nexus s.

Other:
- [any surprises?] there is optimization for the OS to use 2 cores which rocks, and the launcher is great, multitasking is just like honeycomb too
- [How bright is the LED Notification Light? Does the phone feel gigantic in the hand?] Its bright, no because of the curve, and it feels big but still usable and pocketable
- [Something new similar to Siri?] Not that i saw.

Private [could not disclose]:
- On the right or left sides of the phone, are there connections for a dock?
- Did you see the face detection on the lock screen?

This thread is officially a ghost town. I know it will be insane in here come Monday (if there is a last minute leak) or definitely Tuesday evening. However, until then...

Steven, if you're watching, could you try to get us a little tidbit from our source. Maybe they can divulge a little more info since we're almost to the announcement? I feel like if we don't get some more scraps, this thread is going to die. I hate for it to be like the Incredible thread was, and it just kinda died after the phone was launched, compared to what it was pre-launch. We need to kinda transition over from pre-launch to post launch or the hits on the site and the views in this sub-forum are going to drop dramatically come Tuesday or Wednesday. Just sayin'.

At this point, I feel it fair to tell you how these threads go and what will happen to this one. Before I do so, let me explain that this is a "rumor and speculation" thread. After the phone comes out .. .say between a day to a week or so from it's release, there will be no need for this thread and it will be closed. It will be a good thing that we who have made friendship relationships will always stay friends, here on Android Forums. I have quite a few friends from way back in the also famous HTC Incredible thread.

Regarding my source? I already have a PM into him/her, but my sense is that there's no more point in his/her giving us info., as the time for the unboxing draweth nigh.

Short version: Tuesday's coming, hold your horses. Let's not make a total pest of ourselves to our source. :D

Hey everyone! I have been following this thread for a while now and I have pretty much read almost everything so far and I have really enjoyed it. I was going to post a link that I think you guys would find really interesting about someone claiming to have used the Galasaurus Nex, but since I am a newbie here I can't. :(. Sorry for such a lame post guys.

Edit- galaxy nexus hand time - Android Forums

Edit 2- Looks like I can post things!!

Sounds great so far.

I think we've gotten as much info prior to the unveiling as we could hope for. I'm actually pretty content to wait for the actual announcement.

Glad we finally got something to jumpstart our forums, but does this guy have any credibility?

Stevens right pretty soon this thread will die...but we can look forward to the mods thread!

The screen is awesome, just not enough to convince me. I am about to renew my contract and I am between this and the iphone 4s. While I am defenitely an Android fan and think is superior to iOS, I am through with everything coming out first on the iphone and if we are lucky we get it on android.. where is Infinity Blade? will we get Infinity Blade 2? what good is a big 720p screen if I wont be able to get the best and latest software for it.

Still, I WILL buy a Nexus Prime IF the camera is 8mp and the GPU is the same one the iPhone 4s has (or better) but if its the old GPU from 2007 that is listed in the official specs of this thread then I am buying the iPhone 4s and biting the bullet until Android once again wows me.

I know it'll happen, I read that the number if app downloads in android market is soon going to overtake itunes downloads. It's only a matter of time before developers get their heads out of their asses and realise android is the future. Sadly, we're in the present at the moment.

IB4 cerial killer "we don't know who this Jacob is, probably another fake".

I would have to agree with him. Hope his information is correct.

So based on these specs, and Steven's love tunnel saying there were 4 inaccurate things in BGR's specs, I'm willing to bet that Steven's love tunnel was pointing to:

1. 1.5 instead of 1.2 TI OMAP

2. 1900 mAh battery instead of 1750

3. 8MP camera instead of 5MP

4. Maybe 2MP in front instead of 1.3??? Or thinness?

Just got a response:

"It makes the app fill the space where the buttons were"

AWESOME!! :D

I felt it necessary to post the complete convo from AC... Fwiw: I believe it:

daniel walsh - yes
5:34 PM - Edit

Brett Stevens - most likely, if it doesn't have it or GPU hardware acceleration I'll be surprised...
5:34 PM

daniel walsh - i think ics and the galaxy nexus are amazing. +Jacob Epstein How were liking the hardware?
5:56 PM (edited) - Edit

Jacob Epstein - no release date guys, and yes ics is optimized for dual core. it does have a dual core, TI Omap
6:06 PM

Tarick Goldarr Arnold - +Jacob Epstein How do you think ICS will fair against iOS5? I'm wondering because I have a few friends considering switching to Android.
6:12 PM

Jacob Epstein - +Tarick Goldarr Arnold so much more smooth and intuitive, also google's widgets look really nice
6:14 PM

Mike DePaul - Can someone point me to documentation on android not being optimized for dual core? I mentioned that rumor to +Romain Guy tom once on twitter and he didn't know start I was talking about. As far as I know the dvm was not fully optimized, but you are not likely to even notice the changes.

Jacob Epstein - CRAP i didn't check :-/

Jacob Epstein - but 1900 mah battery i think
6:27 PM

Mike DePaul - +Jacob Epstein hardware acceleration is great, but does that change how two cores are accessed? That will help a single core as much as dual our quad, no?
6:28 PM

Jacob Epstein - +Mike DePaul ok i'm not sure now that confused me?
6:30 PM

daniel walsh - Large battery. It's probably plastic
6:33 PM - Edit

Jacob Epstein - it has a samsung plastic outside but it doesn't feel that way in hand
6:34 PM

Lemuel Cantos - Samsung really loves plastic don't they?
6:37 PM

Dual LED flash. Color is dark silver - nice to see something besides black.

Do we trust the source enough to update the first post with all of this?

I'm definitely feeling something tingly. I might wet my pants during the announcement on Tuesday. Seriously. I think I'm gonna be on techno-hotness overload!
