***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Netflix is the only thing that really put me over even 2GB on 3G. Again if you keep the same usage profile, your data usage won't change all that much, you will just do everything faster.

Yea, I understand but that was on an iPhone. I had the Epic 4g touch on sprint for a 12 day trial run and fell in love with Android. My guess is I'll use the internet way more with the new GNex on LTE.

Does anyone have a baseline for their usage with 4g LTE on VZW? I realize this thread isn't about data usage on an LTE network but it's relevant to those of us on other carriers looking to switch for the GNex.

Moderate daily usage with LTE access.....4GB a month? more/less

Because USUALLY after a device passes through the FCC its released approximately one month later. Nothing has shown up with the i515 designation yet.

Although you did say "usually", it bears repeating that this is not the case with the iPhone. Whatever arrangements Apple makes with the FCC could be done for Samsung/Google as well. Especially with a phone that has been shrouded in as much secrecy as the SCH-i515.

Hmm. I'm very concerned. I think we need an investigation into Mod on Chimp violence. Steven, of course, is recused from judging since he is also a thief.

Hmmm. Who to pick, who to pick. Maybe OTD, but she seems very corrupt, with her fangs and all.

Sure. Good idea.

Call down the thunder against me by slagging The Friendly Undead - what a great idea that is.

Personally, I think you'll be feeling a neck pinch and getting a nice certificate for your latest blood donation, but you do what you think is best. ;)

You're just jealous that you haven't experienced any Mod Violence. With your post history in this thread, you've been everywhere else! :D ;)

No I mean the number we reach by the beginning of the announcement. If it's by thread shut down, I'd guess more like 15,843.

Yes, but this really doesn't mean anything. iPhone 4S didn't show up at the FCC until the day of announcement, and only 10 days before actual release.

I agree on the FCC Han, I also think we may hit 1600+

Yep. And you probably would have been deluged by email from Google hawking expensive airfare deals and cans of pretzels!

I'm staying away from that.

On the contrary. I could care less about marketing. My Citi MC has a great feature for virtual credit card numbers that allows single use credentials with user set limits and optionally expiration dates. I use that for internet purchases and it basically eliminates the risk of electronic CC theft. If they incorporate this into NFC, it'll bring the same level of security to physical purchases. We still run risk when the waiter/waitress disappears with your CC for 5 minutes, that your information isn't being stolen. Not anymore! Can't wait to see what functionality Google Wallet brings!

You mean the final number when Steven closes the thread? We need input from him first:

Is he going to close it Wednesday, when we have all the information? Or will he keep it in business until release day (which is subject to change)?

In case Steven misses this, as we've said earlier, custom is to leave this sort of thing open until someone announces they've gotten theirs.

This is exactly what I am thinking. WE have the same thing at vending machines at work. While I don't think it will replace my actual wallet anytime soon, Its a nice additional feature. I don't think it will be as big as some are predicting it though. As long as I have to carry my ID with me, I will have a wallet with plastic as well. But I would love NFC for other things besides payments, like Membership and Reward Cards, etc. Half my wallet is freakin filled with these.

If I remember right, that's why Google calls it Google Wallet and not Google Money or something. Their end game is to completely replace your wallet by including things like membership/reward cards and eventually IDs. Using it for payments is just the first step.

I don't think I'd mind OTD giving me a bite, even with the side effects of dying. Yep, loosening bowels and bladder, rigor mortis, and putrefaction are worth it. If that's her picture, that is. :p

Hmm, that might be interesting. CC theft is a huge deal. I was recently involved in the prosecution of a government worker at a DMV who stole someone's credit card number and social security number when they were paying for printing out a copy of their drivers record!

Hmm. Well, with as much love as this thread is getting, I'm thinking we're going to see a lot of people not get their phones yet but providing a ton of "leaks" and blurry pics. :p

Never mind:)

Clarification - Rob's going to Hong Kong, I'm just trying to see if we can't sway things to get the questions from the community here answered.

And yes - "I got mine" means a clean acquisition by a regular poster here, not a member of the press.

(talk about a ninja edit! got it in while I was quoting - nicely played!)

4,000,000 Fruit Fones sold in the first weekend. I kind of feel sorry for them because they just don't know any better. The Nexus will eat their lunch and you know what? They still won't know any better.

I am wondering if that has something to do with how Verizon will be able to allow their agreement with Isis to be unviolated. Google promises to block payments, but still allow all other features, allows Google Wallet to peacefully co-exist on Verizon with Isis. Although that doesn't make much sense in the interim, if Google Wallet launches as payment only.

Yeah, I realized my error which is why I edited :) Sorry it ain't you.

I have a good friend who is tech-savvy but a huge apple fan. He was all excited about the 5, but got the 4S when it was announced because he had an upgrade, and was the best apple option available. He is so heavily invested in apple between hardware, and software/apps, he feels it is a huge loss to switch at this point. Sad, because you can tell he knows my phone is better than his.

Yeah I don't think Google would agree to that. If you're not using Google Wallet to pay then you're not going to use it for membership card benefits or anything like that either. Completely takes away the convenience benefit of it. They would have a hard time gaining users meanwhile people start using Isis. They really should just allow both and let users choose which one they want.

I've lived a half of the year away from home in Asia (many countries) for years, and while I miss my pals there, I'm happy to be taking a break from that schedule and travel.

Besides, Rob will simply ask questions and report fairly, whereas I'd be all, Srsly?!? You thought that was a good idea? Did you EVEN consider....?

So, overall, I think you've got the right man on the job.

:D
