***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Why would Verizon schedule a huge announcement tomorrow about the RAZR when the world is going to be watching the Nexus/Samsung/Google event?

Could it be because they are not going to carry it and they want to soften the blow this news will bring? "Hey don't worry about the Prime! We have the Droid RAZR and it's going to be awesome"

Could it be because they want to launch 2 huge phones simultaneously and garner all the attention they can get? (That wouldn't make either Samsung or Moto very happy)

Still no FCC and a huge event scheduled for their Droid RAZR on the same day the Nexus is unveiled to the world.

Weird? or is it just me?

I thought I read somewhere in these 10,000 posts that the RAZR announcement for tomorrow was scheduled before the Prime announcement had been rescheduled. They didn't decide to announce at the same time, Google/Samsung rescheduled their announcement and it just happened to be on the day that the RAZR was already being announced.

*Edit: Ack Snowmancomic beat me to it.

Another reminder of why I will be so happy to get rid of my crappy iPhone 4 and jump on the android bandwagon when this nexus comes out!! woot!. Who in the hell thought an all glass phone would be a good idea??? wtf. btw, a case is not the answer. I hate cases. No point in getting a cool phone if you have to hide it in an ugly bulky case.

On another note... this article just revived my excitement for the nexus prime, no matter what processor is inside (still bummed about no sd slot though).

Galaxy Nexus Might be Even Cooler Than You Think

I still think 50/50 my self.

guys that are hoping to have this thing announced tomorrow for VZW.... dont hold your breath, its not going to happen if its coming to VZW or not. Tomorrow is going to be all about ICS 4.0 and their new phone, whether it will be called galaxy nexus or nexus prime. The only thing i expect them to say about carriers for this phone will be something to the effect of "it will be available in over 20 countries at launch", without going into detail about each carrier, instead letting each carrier make their own annoucement.

at least, thats the way i see it most likely going down

Question: Do we have a set list of questions for Rob to ask tomorrow?

I am compiling the list from the posts here and will email him - and post here as well.

Sorry, between modding, getting the IRC with Steven, modding, etc - didn't have to pre-post.

But - I think I'm trustworthy, and will do my very best to not let any who have contributed questions down!

I was just wondering, I can imagine how busy you guys are.

Here's one to add: Will Mobile Hotspot/Tethering be enabled or not whether we get the data plan with Hotspot? Normally I'm sure it'd be enabled, but this is Verizon we're talking about.

do we think that they will announce a verizon version of the galaxy nexus in hong kong? wouldn't that be kind of strange?

I agree, I think the expectations of some are unrealistic and I for one am not counting on as much information as others, therefore I will end the night pleased for ICS and a new Nexus device that will be released in North America soon.

The announcement of carriers in the US that will get the device may or may not come tomorrow night, I hope it does and I think a brief mention of who will get it may happen but as far as release dates and so forth...it is not an expectation rather a opportunity for increased excitement.

I refuse to allow the expectations of others and their disappointment or discouragement bring me down. I do not have control over what happens or doesn't happen. There are those that NEED to be negative and for some reason want or NEED to bring all of us down along with them. I for one won't let that happen to me:cool:

We may get a trial period of hotspot tethering, but after that we'd have to pay for it. I refuse to tether anymore for fear that Big Red will bust me doing it and terminate my $10/mo unlimited data. NO WAY am I risking that gem.

I may be wrong on this, but didn't Verizon and Motorola schedule this before Samsung and Google rescheduled the unpacked event?
Weird? or is it just me?

And perhaps this is the reason Verizon is all up in arms with Samsung & Google, taking the spotlight away from their phone. Could it all be as simple as that and not an issue with the Nexus itself at all?

What's one way they could catch you doing this? Multiple ip usage on a single account?

eyetek please don't misconstrue what I'm saying. I'm not trying to bring you or anyone down. I want this device just as bad as you do. I've waited close to a year for it. (no exaggeration)

There's just A LOT of hype going on right now and underneath it all there is a lot of missing pieces and things that don't quite add up. Again, I want this handset VERY badly but I'm having some serious questions about all this.

Step back and look at the whole picture without any emotional attachment and you will see that there really are some things of concern. It's not being negative.....it's just being cautious in the midst of a TON of hype.

sorry if I am coming off as negative it's sincerely not my intention. I'm just trying to open up dialogue with people to get some more input.

Something like that....:p

Are you guys that don't think Verizon will get the NP saying that to keep yourself from getting let down?

Stevens source, Han's sister, whomever have all said it's coming to Verizon. Steven's source even said the attitudes between Verizon and Google/Samsung are better.

I'm keeping hope alive!

Bingo. But will not say I told you so.

Yeah, we should remember this event was originally scheduled for 10/11 at San Diego and they were supposed to announce availability on Verizon there. Maybe they won't say exact launch date on verizon but I think they will assure it's coming on verizon first at least.

Always a good thing to do. That said, remember BMX, VZ_wired, and others have confirmed it is coming to VZ. Until those sources say otherwise, you might do well to heed your own advice as well :D

Exactly!

How did this thread go from a Verizon exclusive to not getting it at all!

i believe that it will indeed be coming to verizon, however, i do not think it will be announced tomorrow night. i think tomorrow night is all about announcing and showing off ICS and the nexus, but i still think they will not be announcing carriers, just the device and OS

Don't expect a huge announcement and marketing push from Verizon, either. They're too far invested in RAZR to make Nexus a "flagship". WE have to do that by word of mouth.
