I know I'm the bipolar one in the group, but yeah, I agree, why are we making such a huge deal about mm?

If it can fit in my jeans pocket, I'm fine with it. If it can fit in the inside pocket of the suit I have to wear for court and not make it look like I'm carrying a gun in there, I'm good.

Is that a Galaxy Nexus in your pocket or are you just happy the announcement is today?

If one were to give the SGS2 a 4.7" screen how big would the phone be? Can we stop bickering about the length of this phone? 5.35 inches is not big. For many guys its average but thats not the point.

that's what she said.

I say w all express all we can Before tonight. This way, we hit 11k before then! :p

Edit: Steven58 glares at han. ;)

i've got a general verizon question for you guys.

will have a family plan when we switch. will i be able to later add another line for $10/month and get a new smartphone, and not add a data plan to it?

Just a thought but could we see factory firmware that takes the same 4460 and clocks it at 1.2Ghz for LTE Nexii and 1.5Ghz for the HSPA variety taking advantage of the extra available juice not being sucked away for LTE to up the clock speed?

I didn't personally say it was TOO big, but also the SGS2 has capacitive buttons, so that takes up some of the bezel area. But the T-mo one with the 4.5" screen manages to come in under this, AND has off-screen buttons. I just think 5.3 inches is big considering. There will be lots of complaint about bezels I believe.

In all of my experience, data plans are required for smartphones and are not shared between members of a family plan (i.e., you have to have a data plan for every smartphone)

You can pay full price and go prepaid with a smartphone, though.

125 = 4.92
132 = 5.196
136 = 5.35

I'm just curious what size phone people were going to think a 4.7" screen was going to be? It's going to be slightly longer than a thunderbolt. It's fine. People are making this out to be 7" long.

The Thundebolt is 121mm, u call 15mm slightly longer when the Thunderbolt itself is already amongst the biggest phones ? I thought since it will be buttonless, they will use a lot smaller bezzel and the size will be comparable to the SGS2. If it will be this big though (and as ugly as on that japan ad), why not just buy the Galaxy Note then, which will have better specs & ICS will be released for it (or hacked) very quickly IMO.

No. Gotta have both together.

so there's no cheap way to get a new phone a year from now huh? that sucks

I asked about this early, but I am not sure if anyone responded because I wasn't paying attention (and I don't feel like going back and looking):

The Motorola event begins at noon. There is a liveblog here... Motorola's Android future to be revealed later today, get your liveblog here! -- Engadget

EDIT: This isn't supposed to be some disguised shot at the Galaxy Nexus. I am interested in technology, so I will be watching both announcements.

Well, if you have a family plan that means you have multiple upgrade opportunities. So upgrade one phone now and you can space out the other upgrades every year. Then rotate the phones through your family.

That's how some people do it, anyway.

I say take the nooses from around your necks and lighten up. What happened to "take everything with a grain of salt?" Was that thrown out the window for today? Some of you guys are getting all worked up over unconfirmed info. Is waiting for tonight too much to ask for? All of your questions will be answered. Step away from the ledge, and take a deep breath.

Regarding the leaked photo from the asain source: We all saw the Samsung teaser photo with the side profile shot. I think it's pretty easy to tell that the teaser photo and the alleged photo from the leak today are not the same phone. It's probably just a mockup from previous leaked photos. The teaser photo shows a very thin profile with a slight hump at the bottom. The leaked photo displays an iPhone 3GS like round hump seemingly on the entire back. The teaser photo has some credibility. The asian site that leaked it probably has none. Decide for yourselves which one you want to believe.

Exactly!

1. The quality of the pictures is horrible, at best.
a. They are a picture of a poster with a picture if a phone.
b. The angle of the side view is deceiving, making it look
thicker than it probably is in reality.

2. I seriously doubt that Samsung would be promoting this phone, (Something BIG is Coming!) with specs that are as lackluster as reported in that "leak".

3. If anything, this is in an attempt to throw everyone off so they are pleasantly surprised when it is finally announced.

4. I doubt the Galaxasaurus Nex will have everything we hope for it to have, but honestly, these specs are a step backward, and unrealistic.

RELAX FOLKS! Something BIG is Coming, and it's in less than 12 hours now! :D:D:D:D:D:D

WHAT? Are you saying there's no curve? Have Google and Samsung been lying to us all this time????? :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Haha, I did get a laugh at the comment someone made about how the back of the phone didn't look like the phone/tablet pic on the OP. I know I can see the back of the phone in that picture.

I think the specs leaked are correct, because that is what has been being said this whole time. Anyone that says otherwise is in denial. The only surprise I saw was that it has an SD card, which was a good surprise IMO, and it is a little bigger than I expected considering no buttons needed.

Didn't one of the sources say that the Galaxy Nexus would have won in the "Games and Entertainment" category at CTIA? Hopefully it can hold it's own with games.

Can't wait for official word tonight!!
