It's not from 2007. The first SGX540 device was launched in mid-2010.
the gpu itself is from 2007. it wasnt used in any devices until later.

Good post 2 pages back, but I think some people's issues with bleeding edge spec's has to do with a possible HUGE jump in capability a month or two out that open up whole new uses for the device that weren't really workable just a few months prior. So then you basically have a new phone that that can do all new things your couple month old phone can't. This tends to only happen with processor and GPU generational jumps though. Some of those ARE just a few months off at this point also. I will use my subsidy and get this new Nexus, but there is a good chance I am going to just sell it and pay full retail for a device a good bit ahead of it in a few months when the actual new generations of stuff hit.
Worrying about Mhz and specific GPU is really kinda silly though as all chips available TODAY are really pretty comparable and able to do all the same tasks about equally well. This is the part of your point that's spot on.
I'm glad you're happy about it! Sorry about not going in to your IRC party.
I know some of the specs announced were a little different, but I'll tell you the 4 things that were inaccurate from my point of view, and you can share it with the gang.
1. Battery was 1850 on the device I used. 2. It was running at 1.5 GHz. 3. It definitely had an 8MP rear camera. 4. It was thicker than the 9mm,but I'm not sure of the exact measurement.
Now,between me and you,I saw the device back in late July. So yes, things might have changed since then. Obviously they decided to underclock the OMAP,probably to squeeze some more battery life out of it. I'm not sure what happened with the 8MP camera, but I could see them going lower in order to save more juice.
Either way,I hope you guys are happy with what's coming. I've read a couple of posts worrying about Verizon getting it,and that is not an issue. Verizon will definitely be getting this, and last time I heard it was November 3. That's about two weeks old, though. I've seen that it's been moved to the 10,and that is conceivable, but I haven't heard about it.
Hope you love this thing. I know I did. Android 4.0 is super smooth, fast. It's like liquid. You'll be thrilled. I'm definitely getting one,and paying full price for it.
Listen,I probably won't be in touch as much anymore. Things are still very tightened down around here, and with other devices coming down the pipeline,I don't want to draw any attention to myself or my coworkers.
I just wanted to share what I knew about the Nexus because I loved it so much, and you guys are a great group.
Take care!
I've owned Moto droid, Htc Incredible, Htc Thunderbolt, Droid Charge. Updates to correct issues have been a joke on HTC and Sammy. I'm all about the Nexus at this point. I trust Google way more than Moto, Sammy, or Verizon.
For those bummed about the GLBenchmark...
I would just like to note that the iPhone 4 (NOTE: NOT THE 4S) also got terrible scores. The Galaxy Nexus slightly beat the iPhone 4 in the GLBenchmark.
Couldn't agree more. The reason iPhones give such a great user experience is because the software is married to the hardware. They're literally made for each other. Specs suck in comparison to other phones (512MB RAM??), but it's smooth and silky. No lag, no freezes.
Ice Cream Sandwich and Galnexusaurus, too, were made for each other. It's like Romeo and Juliet, but without the blood at the end!
So, Oct. 27 for Verizon announcement? Catching up this am...
is the galaxy nexus the same as the nexus prime? Can somebody tell me because it has me very confused.
Wow. "Beginning of November" for UK means at least that early in the US. And if they're not getting the 32GB, maybe the US will!!
Oh, and yeah, sorry dude.![]()
A lot of thinking to do in these next couple days. I really like the Nexus. It's going to be a great phone. I find myself being impressed but unimpressed all at the same time.
Impressed with 4.0 and the phones capabilities/openess but VERY unimpressed with it's specs and aesthetics. 2 years is quite a long time and while 4.0 is the major draw here for me I know there is some better hardware/4.0 handsets right around the corner.
I'd essentially just be pulling the trigger because of ICS and thats some weak sauce.
I understand that there will always be something better right around the corner. Thats the nature of the game but for me purchasing a 2 year handset is something I don't take lightly. I'm going to sit back for a bit and see how I feel about everything. I'm luckily in no rush to buy, even though I REALLY want a new device.
The hype is over and now it's time to settle in and marinate![]()
You don't think it will go through internal testing at Verizon first?Throw in direct-from-Google updates and the best dev support on the planet, and that sauce gets a little stronger.![]()

Thank you! That helps put it in perspective.Magdelaine dear, it is all speculation. We're taking SWAGs here... your guess is as good as mine on announcement day.
Radders97: "Nexus Prime" is a name apparently made up by the CM team to throw us off the trail for a few months. Essentially the same thing.

Doesn't every indication point to the fact that internal testing has already happened and is final with crossed t's and dotted i's?You don't think it will go through internal testing at Verizon first?
