Enlighten me....and if not Humor me.....

But it seems as if, every new smartphone to hit the market is compared to the iphone...the funny thing is....it's the same IPHONE....

new single core device comes out...compare to iphone....new dual core with 1.+ghz processor comes out....compare to iphone....new qhd screen....compare to iphone....HD screen...compare to iphone...LTE 4G....uh huh compare to iphone...

yup that iphone....the one with less than a ghz of processor speed per core....5mp camera...fixed battery...no removable storage...3.5" screen...3g data....yup, that iphone...

why....is it ecosystem???....the sum of the whole being greater than the individual parts?....ohhhh is it isheep hooked on looks and branding?....

I don't know about the rest of you....but what I witnessed last night being unveiled is the phone I've been waiting for since I've been a tech junky....despite the specs not being what we all HOPED for....this device is the android version of the sum of the whole being greater than the individual parts....

Galaxy Nexus....I'm in.....

And let's the Android enthusiasts and developers snatch up a great nexus device on the largest carrier. I get chills thinking about the dev support this phone will have.

i certainly hope that's the case, but i do have a question (and not meant rhetorically or in jest): do you (all members) think that the dev'r community is going to continue modding/rom'ing/oc'ing/etc to the degree they have been?? at least initially, it seemed that modding devices was because there was so much bloat, and the phones were in need of (and capable of) greater speeds. however, we're now getting devices that are blazing fast out of the box, have tons of ram that isn't being bogged down by bloat, the OS is already including tweaks and features that were being added by dev'rs, etc. maybe i'm just too narrow/restricted in my thinking...??

If its an true vanilla device for me personally i dont know how necessary roms would be for me. I would probably still want to root to back up with titanium.

I'm curious.. It's not an important feature... but, is Android going to finally support animated GIF images in MMS messages in ICS?

I'm mainly excited for CM9. Its vanilla but with enhancements. Plus then we have theme support if we want to change colors from that beautiful blue.

And just what makes you say that???

Don't worry folks, Verizon will have this phone starting next month.

I was just going on prior experience with the exclusive window for nexus till att got their version it was about 7 months , late december is when original nexus s came out , and the att version didnt come subsidized till late july.
