amazon says theyre getting the gnex on the 7th!!!!

edit- just realized it was a 3rd party vendor and not amazon themselves

Negative (sorry).

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Sim Free Unlocked Mobile Phone: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Listed by KingOfGadgets, not Amazon, but a re-seller. I could do the same. This is not an official date by Amazon, and we'd have a leak from a more credible retailer than KingOfGadgets if the 7th were the actual date.

Not saying it's impossible, just saying that no one was given an official date, and that was Amazon listing it for the 7th.

People on grandfathered plans are lucky. I currently have a plan through Verizon that is $59.99 for 450 minutes + unlimited texts + $10 for unlimited data. After discounts and taxes, it comes to $66 and change a month.

However, just moved my wife over to Verizon, 700 min plan w/unlimited text for addtl $30, my $10/mo data plan, and $30/mo for 2GB for her. After discounts, it's $127 and change, so I expect about $140. I can further save cash by dropping texts to 5k for $20, or 500 for $10. I can definitely do the 5k texts, not sure on the 500.

I'd love to get in on my regional promotion of unlimited mobile to any mobile, but I'd have to drop my $10 data plan to get it.

How about 3 smartphones with unlimited text/data sharing 1500 minutes along with 12 F&F numbers for $160/month out the door?

Good read. Not saying Verizon will lock and encrypt the bootloader but if they do..........

I intensely dislike you for that right now.

Well! :p

Thats an very good deal you got there lol how did you get that deal :-)

Email/web deal maybe a year ago. They had it up for a couple of weeks.

It was a sweet enough deal to get us out of our grandfathered Alltel plan. Extra F&F numbers carried forward along with 200 bonus minutes per line that kick in if we ever burn through 1500.

Yeah, not complaining.

I dont think i would even close to ever going over the minutes but the data and text is definately awesome:-) i recently ditched my text plan i got annoyed at paying so much for text messaging so just went with google voice for texting :p

Nice link, but I could shoot holes through almost their entire comparison. The main comparison, though, is iOS vs. Android, which is a huge personal preference. Down to hardware.

CPU - The author claims that both phones have a 1.25ghz OMAP 4460. Anyone else want to tackle this one? :) The truth is, the SOC is the 800mhz Apple A5 (dual-core Cortex A9 + PowerVR SGX543MP2) vs. the 1.2ghz OMAP 4460 (dual-core Cortex A9 + PowerVR SGX540). Nexus gets the application performance crown, Apple gets the gaming performance crown (on a smaller screen), and Apple gets the battery crown.

RAM - 512MB vs. 1GB, but this isn't as cut and dry as it seems. Heavy multi-tasking means more RAM consumption. I find both amounts adequate for their intended usage, so believe it or not, this is a tie to me.

I could have sworn that the iPhone 4 and 4s were wi-fi ABGN, but I'll have to test that this weekend.

He has the gall to say that the iPhone has a better camera due to MP count? Didn't Apple prove this wrong alst gen by having the smaller MP count? :)

So, yea, not a fan of that comparison. I find it too poorly written and deals too much in statistical absolutes.

I have more or less the same deal you do, but with a $10 per line discount thrown in. My unlimited calling is via F&F and Google Voice though. It works great though.

I have the same as you, but with the 20 dollar per line talk and text data discount. I used the google voice 0.3.4 apk, which allows me to send and receive calls over one line. That is a F and F line, too.

I have 4 smartphones, two Dincs (wife and daughter) a D3 (son) and the Dx soon to be gnex. :)

I used to use the 0.3.4.apk for a long time, until I found GVMyNumber and Voice Choice. Now I can make and receive calls via GV and have the updated version.

OTD,
Ever think about changing your location to something like "just outside your window" or similar? Very Halloweeny. I'm starting to dig your avatar after further review.

re: the Gnex, we need a sliver of info to break. My Inc browser is starting to FC now and again. Feel like I'm bringing her in for that final approach sort of touch and go landing.

LOL that would be pretty funny. I might try something like that. My "old" avatar will be back after Halloween.

I feel you on the final approach. My Fascinate is limping towards the finish line right now and I just hope it holds up. After I get my nexus this one will be factory reset and turned into a PMP for the kids.
