***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Doesn't make sense, to me. I just wait a week to buy the razr. Then if I don't like it? Go for the Gnexus.

Yeah, folks who think they're planning around the 14 day return period are most likely mistaken. The people that would take advantage of that are going to do exactly as you describe. They'd wait until a confirmed release date of the SGN, and then buy the RAZR less than 14 days prior.

The vast majority of folks will not return a phone, unless there's some terrible defects. Planning product releases around your return policy is not good business. I can understand giving the RAZR a head start, but they wouldn't force a second product to be 15 days later.

Is there a restocking fee if you buy one, don't like it and buy the other one?

Really just want the Gnexus but my OG droid is getting slower and slower everyday...I worry it will just not wake up one morning.:(

At this point I dont care if it comes out the 3rd, 10th, or 17th... I just wanna know so I can make my plans to sell my Thunderbolt

$35.

If they cared about returns why do a preorder this thur for razr when iphone users are still in their return window???

Someone posted this way back in this thread and I tend to agree. If the Razr is released on the 11/3, it would make sense for Verizon to release on the 17th which is right at the end of their 14 day return period.
As much as I would like my ICS GNex on the 3rd or the 10th, I'm starting to believe the 17th might be the date.
Big Red, please prove me wrong!

I hope they do prove you wrong. :)

People get on here and act like they are Verizon mind readers.

Verizon will do what they want to do when they want to do it. We pee-on's can only blab and wait for it.

Well, the twitter attack that pushed Verizon to release the official announcement was caused by us peons banding together to do it. Don't sell us peons quite that short ;)

Yes. $35.

Well I tried a Dinc2 and hated it in less than 24 hours and returned it with no restocking fee. It was a NE2 deal. The return tore up the NE2 contract as if I had never done it.

I still have a $50.00 discount and unlimited Data on my plan.

You had a very nice rep.

Verizon announced it because they wanted to not because people bombarded them, it isnt the first time a major phone release people wanted and verizon was tight lipped.

We could argue all day about why VZW released the info. That is just a moot point. I think it could've been the emails and twitter push. 6pm on a Friday is a strange time to do a press release.

But again that is just an opinion. We don't win a car or cash prizes when we disagree with someone and prove them wrong.

Let's just try and dig up any information we can. And take EVERY bit of it with a respectful if not silent grain of salt

It looks relatively fast, but I've never played with a Nexus S. Can anybody notice a difference in speed or if hardware acceleration gives a smoother UI experience?

Yeah, given that it's only a SDK build, it looks really good for the most part!

My GF's Nexus S is probably smoother in overall operation, but it sure looks like it will work well once they get the real deal.

The majority of people who buy an iPhone would not return it for an Android phone. The majority of those wanting an Android phone would not buy an iPhone to begin with. The fact that the Razr goes on pre-order tomorrow has no bearing on the iPhone.

However, those who buy a Razr might very well return it for a Nexus because it is the same platform. If you don't think that Verizon would push back the release of a non-Droid branded phone past the 2 week return date cutoff for a Droid branded phone, then you are naive.

It is my opinion that this is the exact reason Verizon has been so hush hush about the release date of the Nexus. If people know the release date of the Nexus and Verizon starts publicizing it officially, then people would probably hold off on buying the Razr. Believe it or not, there are people that do not know about the Nexus. They do not follow Android closely and only know about phones when the carriers officially announce them and start marketing them with posters, putting them up on the website, etc. People already know about the Razr. There are ads, it's on the site, etc. There's absolutely no mention of the Nexus anywhere regarding Verizon. All makes sense to me, especially considering how close my source is to the Droid marketing campaign.

Sorry if this was asked recently.

Has anyone seen the sch model number go through FCC yet? Should we be worried if it hasn't gone through yet, and we're potentially 2 weeks away from launch? The global version went through a couple weeks ago. i haven't seen any articles about verizon's version going through.

Joe

I'm just wondering if Samsung media hub will be available since this is a Samsung device? I have a lot of media through there
