Serious is what I do.

I provide information for others to discern.

Making a generic, or anecdotal, statement helps no one.

Maybe there is another thread where speculation, quasi-facts and opinions is allowed.

Your information got out - the link is there - and now you know that removing your link was nothing personal, so we're moving on, yes? :)

Lots of stuff is allowed here, within the rules of our forum and the guidelines for this thread, as stated in the OP.

Cheers! :)

Maybe I missed it but I asked earlier about the type of fortified glass it will be Vs. Gorilla Glass? If not gorilla, what?

Some speculations and a callout that GG is brand, much like Kleenex is a brand of tissue, but not the only one.

Also worth noting - I've seen a few launches this year where it was clear there was no Gorilla Glass then a few weeks after release, both maker and Corning do a turnaround, update their webs like nothing happened and move on.

I doubt the flagship phone is going to have less than great glass, just my personal opinion.

Dude, EarlyMon already explained that links aren't allowed in someone's first post, especially when it's a shortened link. You weren't being singled out or attacked. It's just a rule.

If you can get over this, we'd love for you to stay and participate. If you can't, then go find that other forum that allows you to post the way you want.

You think if we all filed Freedom of Information Act requests the FCC would send Steven something? ;)

Haha, sounds like something that needs Hans Olo's mobilizing skills :D

P.S., Han (whenever you return to the forum and read this), I harbor no ill feelings re: the grass roots movement. I definitely enjoyed the late Friday announcement!

No argument, but the flip side is those release-day OTA updates many (not all) of us have seen. :p

I agree with you - as long as the quality is there, that's the thing.

Yeah, the post release update was just one thing I figure happens more over seas. I actually bet a lot of places see a lot less crazy carrier exclusive requests and other odd manipulations of device release time frame's we get here. I actually think the only reason Nexus devices hit the USA in a similar time frame to the rest of the world is that they are developed here with google and so have had extensive use on our networks with deals made for that and such. Luckily I wouldn't be surprised if the first/earliest versions of this Galaxy Nexus were actually the VZW LTE versions. Google goals for the USA release(which might be more demanding) are probably the only reason it wouldn't hit here first or at almost the same time as the rest of the world.

Yeah I think he was pretty well redeemed after VZW announced.

I'm already getting my ducks in a row. I found out that the gift certificate that my sister gave me for my birthday can be used anywhere, not just the mall. I can pre-order the gnex using my gift card. Additionally, the loyalty support personal already credited my account 50 giving me a loyalty discount toward the, that I don't qualify for ;) :) and I get 65 for my dx which can used toward my vz bill. :)

so I actually spend (after all accounting is done, I get the phone for 134. Can't beat that. :)

I can't believe you're getting a $50 loyalty credit! (I presume you mean the now defunct NE2 credits Verizon gives out?) They are only giving me $30, and it's my first and last one! What good is a $30 discount when you are paying for a premium $300 phone? Arggg....

Also, after a few Google searches, it appears there are actually quite a few aluminosilicate glass manufacturers out there. Gorilla Glass by Corning is just one. It's very possible the GNex is sporting one from another manufacturer.

10% off? ;-)

Via IRC:

@jcase: the verizon phone won't have the same specs as announced...but I'm not telling you what is different.

Never know when he's jacking around or being serious but that lines up with Steven's source. I'm now leaning toward the theory that the speed was bumped up above 1.2, perhaps they got a kernel to run it in a more stable fashion.

My Crystal Ball says Battery.

Well folks, considering that we STILL haven't seen our beloved Gnex hit FCC, I think we can pretty much write off November 3rd as a release date. Pre-order? Maybe. Release? They would have to jet this thing through FCC to make that date :(

Chief,
FWIW, the FCC on the new iPhone hit the same day as the Apple announcement. In fact, it was even timed for after the event.

FCC docs used to be used for early information, because companies didn't think consumers would be savy enough to search there for information. Or more likely, the thought of leaked information through regulatory filings never even occurred to mfrs.

However, you can specify a public release date to the FCC. And until then, the info will be kept private. So the whole FCC leaked documents thing is so blown out of perspective anymore. It will come, I assure you.

Not to mention the 32GB of storage... we need it! We need it! We want it! Gimme some NEWS already

EDIT: Thanks Vette. I don't exactly BANK on FCC, but a lot of people might. I just want the blasted phone, and if FCC clears it on release day, so be it.

I do think it is one of those two. I guess if they needed more thickness for LTE radio MAYBE they got an SD card slot in there.... but kind of doubt it.
