I'm not even a Verizon customer yet and I'm already getting fed up. Does anyone else get the feeling that Verizon is doing their best to put the SGN at the greatest possible disadvantage versus the Razr and Rezound by releasing it last and doing little to nothing to market it?

Bingo that is exactly what they are doing.

Straight from The Source, Verizon is releasing it last because it lacks VZW apps (bloatware). This COULD have a financial impact to them to the point that they are doing what they are. Of course if they sell boatloads, I think they will make plenty of money.

I take anything "the source" says with a grain of salt. I still feel that someone is playing Steven, and acting as an inside source. They haven't broken any news before other sites leaked information, and what information they've given has either been repeated from another source, or inaccurate. I wouldn't put much credence in the date of the 17th unless other sites are posting it as well.

it's more than just a feeling. not being familiar with VZW, it may come as a surprise to you - but not to many/most that have experience with VZW.

i've been saying for quite a while now that VZW will do very little to market this device. if the GNex is going to be marketed, that will have to come from Google and Sammy's end. it's neither good or bad, nor right or wrong - it's just the way it is...

The source made it pretty clear. They have no incentive to. But it's not like it's different then the Nexus S or Nexus 1. I don't recall the carrier that those phones landed on marketing much for it either. It's going to be up to Samsung and Google to market it, if they so choose. It's really not a big deal.

It's not entirely different from the iPhone. Apple handles pretty much all of the marketing for the iPhone also. That's probably more out of Apple's desire to control everything though.

Figures. If it weren't for the fact that I've had so many issues with death star's network over the last 10+ years, I'd just say screw it and stick with my current carrier...

Agree like the spec changes but wouldnt specify. I mean they said spec changes why not elaborate since they would have already broken a nda if they had one.

I would think, as much appreciated as it is, that EVERYTHING read here would be taken with a grain of salt by EVERYBODY.

Unless you want to buy a bridge.

I can't believe that Steven would post that info without having first exercising due diligence to ensure the source was legitimate, by somehow verifying their identity, or having previous info turn up good.

Yeah, I missed Steven's post from the source when I posted that-my bad. I'm not upset about the lack of marketing so much as I am with the needless delay. I've needed a new phone since July and have been holding out for this one. Ugh....

LOL!! thanks, man...

i think i can make it. i need a new phone pretty badly, but i have enough questions about the RAZR, and enough hope for the GNex, that i think i can hold out.

p.s. fyi, my daughter's name is kate - you can call me Husker :)

Ahhh, I wondered about that. Wondering over.

I've toyed with the passing thought that Steven IS the Source. I know it's wild speculation but makes me smile

Does anyone know what the profit margins are on these phones? Maybe they are backing the phone that fills their wallets the fastest.

Maybe, or maybe VZW is just giving the SGN the shaft because they're pissed about not being able to bloat it up the way they like. Who knows...?

OOOOOH The Motorola XOOM "Family Edition"!

Motorola XOOM Family Edition - Affordable Tablet PC with Free Apps - Overview - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA

With $40 of FREE software (we would refer to it as "bloat")! :p

As far as Gnex goes, I think it's a foregone conclusion that Verizon likely won't run commercial ONE for this phone. They'll sell it, alright... but they'll do it holding their corporate nose. Low profile, sitting alone on a shelf somewhere, ignored by reps.

It'll be up Google, Samsung and to US to market it.

Agreed. Does anyone still remember VZ_wired? When BGR first leaked Nexus spec, he said there are four things wrong there. Even BMX, steven's source agreed to it and everyone here believed processor clock would be 1.5Ghz. But BGR leak spec turned out to be exactly right at HK event. So I wonder if vz_wired was trolling or not.

But since we still haven't seen the real spec of Verizon version yet, I guess there is still chance to see bigger battery and a few minor differences.

I feel ya there...an extra week feels like so long when it really isn't. I've been upgrade eligible since July with my OG Droid that's limping along, completely maxed out on memory.

Your welcome to your opinions here, Steven's source has been checked out and verified by the powers at this site so if you choose not to believe then so be it.

You don't have to believe me either but if you check I posted Tuesday that a family member who works for VZ had the release dates of the Nexus change from Nov. 10th to Nov. 17th on their computer screen at work. They are also the same source that is currently taking the Online training course for Android 4.0 at VZ.

These dates have been subject to change all along and because VZ has never come out and given a release date of the Nexus you could say that the Oct. 27th...Nov.3rd...Nov.10th and now the Nov. 17th dates are all rumored and until VZ officially releases the Nexus we just won't know for sure now will we.

By the way...has VZ officially confirmed a release date for the Razor yet...I don't think so, their wordage was...will ship no later than Nov. 10th:eek:

Everything is in limbo except the fact that VZ announced that they will carry the Nexus and it will be released before the end of the year so if you want it you will have to wait for them to release it or move onto another device that has a release date you can agree with and believe in.

:);):o:D

In this regard Verizon is almost as bad as Apple. I hate Apple for this and I hate Verizon for it just the same but have little choice but to deal with Verizon at this point.

I do feel a little dirty when I pay my bill every month though. :(

Which is unfortunate, because I'm dying for a game-changing Android device to come out and knock iPhone off its pedestal.

Well it does have a processor CAPABLE of 1.5 GHz. And perhaps the initial testing was done with the processor at full clock, but battery life was not sufficient for the decision makers, and they underclocked it during testing.
