The updated Kitchen Pro app, v1.2.4, will be available later today, so it may pay you to wait until that is up.

UPDATE

Just manually flashed the ROM, with no wipe, over v1.0.0, with no problems. Had to manually re-install my JKay theme and Siyah kernel.

*Will have to wait for new kitchen to be released before I can flash things such as screen capture, etc:

* Just tried using Kitchen Pro, v1.2.3, to download a few things and it seems to be OK.

** Belay that! It is actually re-installing stuff that I had previously downloaded for v1.0.0. Not sure if it will download and install something completely new.

:D

What a difference half hour makes. I had a look for that earlier and it wasn't up yet.

:D

You must've still been half asleep then Shotgun84!

It was released about 6am UK time.

Just tried, to see if it worked, to download Screen Capture from the old, v1.2.3, Kitchen Pro.... and it did! :)

(I think it actually just re-intalled stuff that I'd previously downloaded on v1.0.0. So it looks like a little wait for the new Kitchen Pro, v1.2.4, before you can download and install any new items)

I must have. But for a different reason. I was wrong about the half hour. I had a look before I started work so would've been sometime before 6.

Do you need to back everything to install?
I was a bit late to the party with V1 and I never seem to be able to restore any apps or anything whenever I install a new ROM.

Doing a backup first can't hurt as you never know what might happen. Saying that though I was a bit impatient and just flashed the rom. Since your coming from v1 there shouldn't be amy need to wipe, just flash it over the top.

What about backing up apps and restoring them?
On past ROM changes I have tried using titanium back up but when i went to restore then there was nothing to restore.
Anty advice or guide as I must be doing something wrong.

You shouldn't need to restore anything as titty don't need to wipe.
Right I'll start from the beginning with titanium. Once titanium is open and has read all your apps press menu, then select batch. Now find backup all apps and system data and press run. When this is complete you should now bee able to restore these when needed. To restore after doing a full wipe, download titanium from the market, open it press menu, batch and then find restore all apps and system data and press run.

The process described is exactly what I have previously done, nice to have it verified by a user and a guide though. So unsure why it didnt work previous.

Anyway, If I back up all apps and data then change my ROM from V1 to V2 then restore apps and data from Titanium will this not overwrite some of the existing apps/data from the new ROM?
Or will it distinguish and give me double versions, not sure if that makes sense to you?

If you have a backup off the old kitchen and deluxe settings apps these would replace the new ones if you restore. So before running the restore press the backup/restore tab and them find these two apps select them and press delete.

The only thing I can think of why the backup process wouldn't have worked would be if you haven't ticked usb debugging so make sure that's selected.

Titanium warns me on opening if I have debugging disabled, which I sometimes do for drag and drop file transfer.

In batch restore, you can select missing apps only to avoid overwriting newer versions with older ones, I"m not yet completely sure how that effects system data and settings though..

*This is a "No Wipe" ROM

As I mentioned, I didn't do a wipe on v2.0.0. I just flashed it over the top of v1.0. and thus retained all my non Kitchen Pro app's.

I then went to the Kitchen and reinstalled the app's that were missing. Everything else, including Settings, was OK.

UPDATE

*This is a "Non wipe" ROM only if you are coming from the previous version.

Otherwise a "FULL WIPE" is required as per the instructions:-

"Q: I'm coming from a different ROM how can i install this ROM ?

A: Follow the steps below

Get into the CWM recovery
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Install the ROM
"

(If, for any reason, you do encounter any problems with installing this new ROM over the old one... then follow the "FULL WIPE" instructions above.)

as per ironass - i was on v1.0.0, nothing needed to be backed up and restored APART from mods/files from the kitchen.

I downloaded 2.0.0 from kitchen, flashed via CWM, up and working within 5 minutes. all data/apps/contacts etc etc as before.

then back into CWM and reapplied my themes/mods etc installed from v1.0.0

easy as pie.

I had checked the ROM in the kitchen last night and it still had 1.0 but have checked now and it does show 2.0 so will download and get that flashed tonight.

Thanks to all of you for your helpful advice.

Anyone on V2 found any issues of note?

It's where I went wrong. I didnt full wipe when installing 1.0. But to be fair the only problem I had was screenshot didnt work even after flashing the tweek. Reinstalled after a wipe ad worked fine. Installing 2.0 now. :D

Kitchen v1.2.3 can be downloaded from the CRR Xda thread at the end of post 1.

I've just downloaded this and noticed it comes with the Hellcat kernel.
Did a non-wipe install without any problems as yet. Things seem as good as ever, being snappy and responsive. Obviously cant judge on battery life yet.

I dont know what the consensus of opinion is with the bundled Hellcat kernel (I've been away for the last week) so not sure whether I should give this kernel a go for a while first, or dive straight in with the DarkKnight/Siyah v2.1 kernel that the developers now seem to be favouring. The bundled kernel also comes with an app (HC-kTool) that offers some flashing/efs backup/restore features. It only has a max 1200 Mhz (as opposed to 1600 of a good few others now) in SetCPU and has a limited number of governors.

Also noticed Siyah 2.1 beta13 is also in the kitchen, so dont know how this differs from the DarkKnight offering.

As you guys are so helpful I wonder if you might be able to shed some light on this one.

Google maps, shows in my apps as needing an update but when i try to update it just hangs, never completes.
Any idea what I can do to resolve it?

That problem isn't related to this thread so it might be better to start a new thread off in the gs2 forum.
However I get this occasionally too and more often than not going into applications setup and clearing cache and data for maps fixes it.
