judging from the "leak" its looking like its more and more likely that ATT will not be getting a SGN in quite some time. Looks like we will be forced to buy unsubsidized euro model or hopefully google sells it.

They did announce a pre-order date at the Moto announcement if I remember correctly, so hopefully we see something.
 
Another point to mention is that this press event today is HTC hosted. It's possible that Moto and HTC asked verizon not to give a long preorder period to overshadow their launches.

Google was going to show off ICS last month with or without announcing a release date for the US. Would google have loved to say "Coming to you November 17th!"? I'm sure they would have, but then you have the next big phone endorsed by google sitting there dwarfing your phone sales because it's going to be a month before release. Verizon doesn't care about which smartphone you use really. They just want the $$$$ from the contract.

Maybe Verizon is just going auction style.

"Hey who wants a razr?"

"Didn't like the Razr, how about a rezound?"

"Well, if you didn't like those 2, how about the next Nexus phone?"

Also keep in mind, for the Majority of Verizon phones, when they don't do a preorder, the days from announcment to release is usually 3 days or less, so you probably aren't going to get a lot of time to wait if they don't plan on doing a preorder. So even if it gets to the 14th, 15th, or 16th.....it's still possible, it launches on 17th day of the mighty November.

I'm really hoping for a pre-order. I want to avoid all the silliness and worry of hoping inventory meets demand.

Pre-ordering is like free money for them (relatively speaking). They don't have to waste employee time jerking around with setting it up and all that. They just ship the damn thing and let us go through the setup.

Besides, I love opening the box myself and getting that first whiff of virgin electronics! Nothing smells as good as new gadgets. Well, nothing I could mention on this PG board.

I'm with you on that!

I've been emotionally detaching from my DX in anticipation of the GNex. As great as the DX has been to me for these 15 months, I need new blood. Every little slow down or foible is an agony and another nail in its coffin. By the time I get the GNex, I'll hate my poor DX.

This, like ask the other "Verizon hates Gnex" posts, makes no sense. Do we all think there wasn't a contract involved? Months ago? Verizon is paying money to have this exclusive deal. Since branding is such a huge corporate issue, does anyone buy Big Red somehow missed that?!

Now here's a plausible theory: maybe verizon is moving being the droid label. Look how many phones AREN'T getting the droid tag. Maybe they are dropping 3 android super phones essentially on top of each other so they become the source for android goodness, an android for everyone, rather than just a moto, HTC, or sammy shop. Just in time for Christmas.

No android manufacturer brand by itself will outsell apple, but VZW can be paying itself to corner the high end market.

Too bad a GSM phone won't work on AT&T's 4G network. If you spend that much money on a phone, you deserve that extra speed in my opinion anyway. Maybe you should consider jumping ship to VZW with us. I hate to advertise for them, but there is a reason we are all still with them, and it's called 4G LTE.

Ya but isnt it hspa 21 mbps ?

Im more than happy with that speed especially when it comes to battery life, and also I would have a hard time parting with my unlimited data :(
 
Unfortunately I have no news...My former Geometry student said that his dad knows the release date and carrier information, but is not allowed to tell anyone. His exact words were, "he won't even tell me"...which I understand, I don't think I'd trust sensitive information to a 17 year old either. However, his dad did say he'd ask people at work if the gag order was still on and when he may be able to tell me something. The one thing my info, or lack there of, does support is the article this morning stating that there is a firm date in place and that there is no delay. So kinda good news, I guess. Sorry I couldn't find out more. Have a great day everyone, gotta teach some triangle congruence today...remember those...SSS, SAS, AAS, ASA....FUN, FUN!!!!!!! ;-)

Kinda goes along with what my source said earlier. The Nexus will be released AFTER the Razr. Makes sense as to why they have a gag order on Google/Samsung/Verizon employees. They don't want their preferred Droid branded Razr's thunder to be stolen.

It's crazy to think that today was the day we were originally supposed to see this device (well based on rumors). It has gone by pretty quickly so whatever delay is coming shouldn't be too terrible.

I am very excited for the Rezound announcement (12PDT/3EDT) because its a Verizon event so maybe they will do a "ONE MORE THING" and give us some SGN love at the end. Anyone, anyone?
 
Good morning Gnexers!

Well folks, I am STILL stubbornly holding onto my theory of a quiet pre-order on November 10, with a quiet November 17 Launch. "SHHHHHH! You may interrupt RAZR/ReHound sales!"

So I expect that we'll hear little if anything until about the 8th, when stock actually hits stores. And then the euphoria will really begin.

We'll be gettin' crunk up in dis hizzy bout some Nexus!


Hmmm, maybe I'd better stick with my 80s music :rolleyes:

I can't say I blame you there, and you do have a point about the battery life, we assume anyway. If VZW had screwed this up, I was considering Sprint for the unlimited plan they offer. It's cheaper than I pay now for 2GB and 450 min. Their coverage is not up to Verizon's standard where I live though. Also, I work on a very large campus with Verizon repeaters every few hundred feet and no Sprint signal. I wouldn't want to be stuck with a great phone, I couldn't use.
 
I've been following this thread as much as possible and have to lean towards the 17th release date unless verizon is really that scared that this will blow the razr out of the water in sales (which is possible.) That would mean two straight Motorola phone flops, ouch.

I hope, but seriously doubt that will happen. If I were an HTC exec, I would make sure it was in the contract that no other phone manufacturer would be allowed time at an event my marketing dollars were spent on. But, I'm not with HTC, so maybe there's a chance!

haha, NO way that happens, but I like your optimism. .

Verizon spokesman: And that is the HTC Rezound, pre-order starts 11/10. Same day as Samsung Galaxy Nexus. (Crickets for 2 seconds, then HTC execs rush the stage and pummel VZW spokesman for upstaging their phone at its own unveiling)

Not feeling too positive this morning. I think unless pre-orders are announced 11/10, I may wait until my birthday (in January) to get a new phone.

I just happen to be going on a family trip which starts on the 16th and ends in early Decemeber, during which I will probably not be able to pick up this phone. After that, it's only a month until the beginning of the year. More devices that are even hotter spec-wise and that will have ICS out of the box are on the way. I'm not overly keen on the Nexus design at the moment and I wonder if I really will like it "in hand". I'm currently willing to overlook this if I can have the Nexus now. But if I can't?

I wait. And I get either another phone I like better or I get the Nexus...on sale. I hate to give up but deciding to wait may be the only thing that allows me to live my life w/out haunting the forums over the holidays.
 
I find it extremely hard to believe that Verizon would have a thrombosis over the GN not displaying any VZW markings since no nexus phone has ever displayed carrier marks... then again... maybe I give too much credit....:D

Yeah I think the majority of these issues were known when the exclusivity agreement was signed.
