I did a quick Google search and found something over at XDA where someone shares the same opinion as you regarding 4430/4460 being from same wafer though.

No, he doesn't share my opinion at all. Thanks for the link, I'll have to have a chat with him about this.

I believe the design documentation fully supports that the 4430 and 4460 are actually totally separate variants of the OMAP4 - and are NOT a speed/quality numbering scheme.

A post on XDA doesn't make it so.

The Wikipedia page on the OMAP 4 states 1-1.2GHz.

I wonder if this was edited to suit the fact that the RAZR runs at 1.2

From my conversations with the EE dealing with a TI rep, there are hardware instructions in the 4460 that aren't part of the 4430.

This could be because the transistors are present but disabled in the 4430 (ala 486SX), or they are new additions to the 4460 and it is not the same chip. I fully believe they are different, as there are hardware based functions only available to the 4460.

I think we're all waiting for my source to answer my PM. T'ain't happenning, though.

I think at this rate we are going to hit 25k tomorrow. Hopefully I won't miss it, like I did this time with 24k.

Some info from our past to back you up on this.

From the archives so to speak

Mention of the 4460 design sheet has 70pages more with some specifics listed

There is a treasure trove of cpu related stuff from about page 223-240 or so.

Verizon and Moto have it all figured out. It's branding! If you see someone else with a giant rectangular burn on their cheek then you know they have a Razr too! Wow! The commercial even makes sense now. It could cut through all those things because it is soooo hot. Ok, I'll stop. :o

Gee OTD... I know that the undead don't shave but those of us who do have to occasionally deal with something called razr burn?? :p

And from what I've seen of the RAZR so far it doesn't get that hot! Must be chilly today in New Jersey... Steven probably picked up the warm phone with a cold hand! :p

OTD, are you implying that there are going to be people walking around with RAZR burn???
