About two pages ago as I type, or 20 pages ago when I hit Reply, folks were talking about how the GNex isn't likely to appeal to the masses. I question whether that's changing:

Monday Poll: Now That All Three Have Been Announced – Galaxy Nexus, Rezound, or RAZR? – Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

I realize Droid Life caters to geeks like us, but if the percentages hold for all geekdom then the GNex is far more popular than I expected. I really figured we were a nerdy few. Maybe we're a nerdy bunch.

Sure the 15000 or so that follow the rumor blog sites are going to know about and want the GNEX, but 15000, is a pretty small number compared to Verizon's customer base.

FYI:
I've researched and found the corporate names and contact info. Maybe a few of you could contact some of them and ask for more information. I have written to Mari Walden, Vice President and Chief Marketing officer. Here is what I wrote her:

Ms. Walden,
I'm writing to you to find out when you intend to announce and release the Galaxy Nexus. As I'm an sure you are aware, this device is generating a lot of excitement among your client base. While the average Joe may not know it's coming, those of us in the technology sector are EXTREMELY excited about it. I am well aware of the Droid Razr by Motorola and HTC Rezound, however, as a customer I am truly excited about being part of the true Google Experience that a Nexus device brings. Please take a quick look a just ONE thread regarding this phone:

http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...7-release-date-per-our-vzw-source-11-9-a.html

There are more than 26,800 posts about this phone and over a half of million hits speculating about it. I know that marketing this phone in it's proper time is important, but a little bit of information will go a long way.

Sincerely,
xxxx xxxxx

Be polite and see if that gets us anywhere.

If you're serious about sending this, you might want to fix some typos. I've highlighted them in red above. I may have not caught all of them.

The new music app will ship with Gnex which is "supposedly" dropping the 17th... this conference is looking good to me.
The new music app has been out for awhile now (since May), this is likely just an update that will some how integrate it into Android Market for music purchases. And likely some kinda Google+ integration.

This is not a announcement related specifically to the Nexus, its supposed to be for all of Android.

Isn't the premier of Ice Cream Sandwich on a phone related to all of Android?

Ummm... ICS premiered a month ago, the invitations that were sent out today for the event on the 16th are not related to ICS... its Google Music which is on more then just ICS.

Good to see an EQ included in Android finally. Still can't see abandoning PowerAMP. That is a truly amazing music app. Paid app, but well worth the $$. Love beaing able to assign EQ presets to specific uses: speaker, headphone, and bluetooth.

Yeah..... i never said it would be for the nexus. I have had the new music app for a while.

I was merely saying it looks good for the Gnex on the 17th because it will be the first device shipped with the new app natively installed.

Went to Verizon this morning to check out the RAZR. When I walked in, there were about 8 reps standing at the doorway waiting to help people out (and it wasn't busy whatsoever lol). They immediately pounce on me asking what they could help me with, I said I wanted to look at the RAZR, and they sent me over with a rep to look at it (they thought I wanted to buy it!). I told the rep once we got there that I was waiting for the Nexus and was just looking at the RAZR and he said many people were waiting for it and he let me be after that. Here are my thoughts:

The screen really is beautiful. It looked great, the colors popped as expected with an AMOLED screen, and I didn't notice any green tint. The text, while it could definitely be seen that it was a little fuzzy and pixelated, wasn't as bas as some have made it out to be.

HOWEVER, this is all with the brightness turned all the way up. As soon as I set the brightness to auto, the screen quality went to crap. Green tint all over and it looked NASTY.

One cool thing is you can hide all preinstalled apps and even delete some. Yes, I said delete some. I deleted Let's Golf 2 for instance right on the store phone they had out! That made me excited. I also went and checked the running apps on the phone and it seemed that once you hid an app, it stopped running, which is nice.

The browser was fast, as expected with 4G. The black keyboard was good, but oddly, I had trouble typing on it for some reason. I was making a lot of errors and the spell check/auto correct wasn't doing a very good job at correcting my mistakes.

The camera was subpar, end of story. It focused quick enough (I know that was a concern for many people) but the pictures came out a little fuzzy/blurry.

Overall, it is definitely the best phone out there right now, and will easily be the best Gingerbread phone, IMO, even after more come out. It is smooth, it is nice, and Smart Actions is pretty awesome. However, I left feeling like it is the same phone as all the others I have seen but with some new hardware and a cool form factor (yes, super thin and I thought it felt great in my hand).

DEFINITELY THE NEXUS FOR ME!

I don't get it Hans what's the big deal?

Ok, ok I'm done messing around. Had to say it once. I'm sure you get it all the time around here. Anyways, I'm just as amped as you guys for this phone so hopefully VZW gets over itself and the Razr and Rezound so we can finally get to the Nexus...

I think the only big deal around here is the Galaxasaurus Nex!

Welcome to the forums, SittingMoose (plus anyone I've missed by name)! :)

So I decided to stop in the Verizon Authorized Reseller by the Dunkin Donuts when I went out this afternoon. They don't have a working RAZR but that's ok - I really only wanted to get a feel for size. I have to agree with Steven, it's a very very odd feeling. It's thinness and width are not a match made in heaven for me. BUT - add a little booty to it and I do believe I will be feeling the Nexus love even more. I was truly concerned about the fit in my hand cause they're not exactly large. I don't think I'll be able to hold it in my palm and reach anything on the far left side but I'll just line up everything I need for quick access on the right. Lol. (Yes, I hold the phone in my right hand more often)
I also had him check my line and he couldn't move up my last NE2 but said that the $299 price would apply to the RAZR if I wanted that so it should be the same for the Nexus (apparently because of having been a customer for so long and for my 1 year upgrade price), and could possibly get an additional $50 off if I do it online. Side note - I walked in and asked about the RAZR and the poor thing just lit up so I very gently had to tell him that I just wanted it for size comparison. Poor guy said no one has bought it all day. He asked why I was comparing size so I then said I was waiting for the Nexus. He nodded his head very very enthusiastically and said he is too. I got a bit excited then and asked if he knew anything (I shamelessly flirted and used my knee high boots and skirt to full advantage). He said he hadn't heard anything definite, but he heard the manager saying something about the 21st but then she shut the door and he couldn't eavesdrop. So take that with a grain of salt. (I also told him to feel free to call me if he hears anything about this phone as I would give him the commission - and I will too - if he tells me before you guys do)

Welcome to the family. Glad you've decided to come out of hiding and join us.

Stopped by VZW to play with the RAZR and I came away impressed. Very light and ridiculously thin, but it was tough to gauge the feel with it tethered to the counter. I even set off the security alarm trying to get a feel for it

The display was sharp with no sign of the pentile effect, the camera wasn't instant but faster than my Dinc. It took a lot of effort to smudge he screen wih my fingers. Nice phone, but the sealed back worries me because of the battery.

I spoke to my usual sales guy and he was aware of the Rezound and the Nexus and he and I are on he same page. With three phones coming out in a short time, it doesn't make sense to jump on the first one when they all have their advantages. It should pay to wait to handle all three before choosing.

He said to call on Nexus release day and he would put one aside for me for evening pickup. Very cool if it works out that way.

I saw 4 RAZRs lead the store in about 20 minutes, but it wasn't busy by any stretch.

Its all in VZWs court now.
