That return policy extension til January may be just the perfect way for me to test drive Sense for an extended period of time to determine whether or not I like the interface, having never owned an htc phone. Yeah, I've played with them in stores a bit, but not to the extent of really breaking one in and determining my comfort level. For all I know, I could hate it. I'll see what news comes in tomorrow. Then will likely pick one up, but not buy any extended battery or dock until I get to compare it to a Nexus. Once I get to play with both to compare screen and build quality (or at least see a decent number of reviews aside from the GSM ones), I'll make a decision as to what I like better and will buy the appropriate accessories. This way I'm not wastefully opening a bunch of extra items and creating unnecessary refurbs. Plus, since I'd been excitedly following the Rezound for several weeks, I don't feel like I would be settling as I might with the RAZR. I know Verizon's just doing this because of expected returns for holiday gift-giving, but that does give my cloud a bit of silver lining.

I know that there will be but I think my patience has been severely depleted during this wait and I wanna beam NOW (now = as soon as I get the darned thing in my hot little hands)

I must have gone to the same business 101 class as you because that's what I thought too.

Not to mention it costs them money to just store and hold inventory.

I posted something along those lines a while back. It costs money to sit on inventory and I thought most companies tried to avoid that. Come on Verizon stop sitting on my Nexus!

Historical Data - 3 Flagship Android phones have never been released within 2 weeks on Verizon... or even close to that.

Business 101 - Releasing 3 beast phones in 2 weeks drives down sales if not properly marketed. Razr and Rezound could have abysmal sales compared to the juggernaut Nexus if released too soon.

So delay 1 of them to December (Nexus) and hopefully they can still sell a bunch of Rezounds and Razrs.

It's complicated but business 101 also involves keeping your clients happy and they also may be obligated to sell a certain # of their product.

Who says that they even have the stock? There hasn't even been an official release date yet so the assumption that they are sitting on stock is just an assumption.

Unfortunately that is just wishful thinking. And an incorrect assumption that they are holding inventory.

You too? Ugh, my 40th was Wednesday the 9th and my wife threw me a most awesome party on Saturday. Had a house full of friends and family. I was doing just fine with not drinking too much until I had those last two beers at the end of the night. Was nursing a nasty hangover all day yesterday. No booze for me until the weekend... I had my fill!

And since I'm in NC and the northern parts of VA are only a few hours away, I'd love to join youse, but my liver also needs a well-deserved break...

Verizon doesn't ACTUALLY care about selling phones...they are in the business of selling data in the form of minutes / texts / 3g and 4g data packages.

The only reason they may care at all about which phone sells over another is the bloatware, but honestly I don't think that's as big of a deal as attracting new customers.
 
Also, unless Verizon has some sort of extended payment terms, they are sitting on product that has already been invoiced and getting closer to being paid with no return on investment. I can't see how they can let product sit for several more weeks.

If there are some minor bugs, it hasn't stopped them in the past from shipping the phone then sending out an update a few weeks later.

Business 101 is much simpler than that: Make Money. That's it. It all boils down to that. If they hold the most hyped android phone of the year, their shareholders will crucify them. Holding the nexus if it is ready is plain bad business, and as such historical data regarding big phone releases is irrelevant.

Edit: not saying Verizon won't do this, but it ain't passing business 101, its flunking if it does.
 
Unless Verizon "Wants" many $35 restocked phones, I would think that they would annouce release date info for the SGN with the same time that this "Super Return Period" is available. I can't imagine they are making money on turning new phones into refurbs for $35

Edit: In other words, Tomorrow they announce their SGN plans, just like anticipated.

Is there any kind of confirmations regarding this phone? I I am convinced that there really is not I big problem with the phone. It's all Verizon I think
 
anyone else concerned that if you take this test drive option, that something happens to delay the GNex beyond the exchange date? Until it is actually released.....anything can happen.
