Fixed that for you -- I am 99% sure you will see it on your device, just not officially supported by Verizon.
Ah yes.. thats what I want. a hacked up .apk handling my credit card info. The only way it will Google Wallet will be on my phone is if it ever gets published to the Android Market.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we see our first commercial tonight or Sunday during the football games. Verizon spends a TON of money on NFL sponsorship/commercials.

Didn't one of the many leaked docs look like a marketing plan, showing the SGN being marketed starting on 28 nov? of course it could be a fake doc.

When I go to the market from my computer it tells me some things are not compatible and won't let me download.

But is that due to a hardware deficiency or Android version requirements BB? What did it restrict you from getting? I know when I've tried to download a couple games to my Dinc it wouldn't let me, but then I tried on my gf's Thunderbolt and they all show up. Is it something along those lines?

I don't really understand why this is so difficult to understand. Verizon has been holding a carrot out in front of us the whole time with this, and they need to know they have really frustrated those of us who are waiting on this phone. Instead of being forthcoming with their customers, they prefer the element of surprise. As a consumer, who has paid a premium amount to them for the last ten years, I feel we deserve better.

Why ask for something you know you aren't going to get? Have you ever asked for a raise from your boss that you didn't really deserve? Ever asked a guy/girl out that was better looking than you? You ask for things you may not get, because you might. You never know until you ask. To be so much of a lemming just to accept that the current circumstances are the best you can hope for, is a sad existence.

We deserve better than for Verizon to say they are going to carry a game changing device such as this, tell us they "passed" on the world's best selling phone for it back in August, and keep dangling that carrot while the rest of the world knows exactly what's going on for them with this same phone. So I am sorry that I won't be the lemming that decides I have to follow everyone else off of the cliff, and just accept it. I deserve better and so do you. The only way anyone is ever going to get anything better is to let them know.

Just out of curiosity, how has Verizon been dangling the carrot? They have not announced anything about this phone other than a statement on their website that they will be carrying it. There have been no release dates that they've reneged on, no publicity, nothing. All we know, we know because of people snooping around FCC disclosures, and people talking to their sources and texting their sisters and hassling store managers and CSRs. If you want to be upset with someone, be upset with the people who have shared incorrect information. I just don't get the "I have a right to know" sense of entitlement. It would be nice to know, it would be fun to know, but since when does a company have any obligation at all to disclose information about something before it is released to market? It has been fun to speculate and pry and snoop and sleuth, but until the company announces a date, then reneges, this "I have a right to know I demand you tell me I'm no lemming dammit" stuff just sounds whiny.

I wouldn't use an unsigned apk (not sure of the security around the actual NFC hardware though).

it looks like you can install it from here:
Google Wallet - get it now

I would try it but I don't have a functioning phone right now to work with.

I cannot win. Simply cannot win. Nobody was even watching this time!

And I wasn't either - I saw we were within 100 this morning and then bam! we're over the mark. Lol.

I believe it was due to verizon. I will be honest - it was right after I rooted my phone and was trying to find the tethering just so I could see if it worked. It was available in the market but said it was not compatible. I've experienced the same thing as you with the DInc vs TB as well though so I know that's more an Android version requirement.

You can't even download it without a compatible phone -- BB just tried it. I'd bet that means it needs to detect an NFC chipped model. Which right now is only the Nexus S.

What an exciting past few days!

I shall do the dance of joy!

(insert Balki doing the dance of joy)- someone feel free to add it.

Thank you! And, you're absolutely right... The Galaxy Nexus screen should have about 1440 subpixels (horizontally) so by Nyquist-Shannon (that applies, right? ;)) there's no way a 1920px-wide video can image it correctly. The good news is that the video should *add* artifacts, except for any smoothing caused by antialiasing or compression. So if anything, the actual phone should look better than what I'm seeing by my silly method.

Congrats on being one of the few hereabouts to quote Nyquist. :D

That rather reminded me to add in temporal as well spacial sampling errors - add in alignment errors from the camera rate vs. the phone screen update rate and it gets even worse when trying to remotely assess if any moving image components are involved.

And here I thought you were going to call me on PenTile pixels at the source not mapping to an RGB final display in size/intensity. ;)

For those not following but who are sci-fi fans - we're discussing the equivalent tendency of genetic fading in clones, per Star Trek.

From PenTile YouTubes to sampling theory to Star Trek in a single 2x2 exchange including your first post here - hey, you're all right! :D ;)

How has Verizon been doing anything of the sort? They've been completely mum and your entire inane nonsense just shows the bleeding entitlement.

And no, the things you listed have a POSSIBILITY of happening-and this can be gauged statistically whilst there isn't metric for Verizon just talking to a random person and giving them UNKNOWN info.

Verizon hasn't been holding the carrot, this board has.

maybe you guys can just agree to disagree, and leave it at that?!

VZW passed on the GS2, stating that it was going with a "better" device. then, VZW confirmed that it was getting the Nexus. then, it said that the Nexus would be here "before the end of the year."

now, whether or not this conduct justifies making phone calls, sending emails, posting tweets, etc. requesting more specific info - i think that's a debatable issue, and depends on each individual's own personal mores. you may disagree with it, but that doesn't mean it's wrong - it's just your opinion. others may agree with it, but that doesn't mean it's right - it's just their opinion.

either way, imo, there's no need for condescension and belittlement.

I had noticed earlier versions of the market would let you see applications even though they were not compatable with the specific phone... not sure it that is it, or I am blowing smoke out of my... (edited for my sake... :D)

Completely Off Topic (sort of)

I CAUGHT UP WITH MY WORK!!!! AND I'm caught up on the forum. Whew! First time ever that I'm kind of thankful for a slower day in here. :o :D

Kellex just tweeted something about the rumor of Nov.18th sounding correct now . ...?..

How would that even be possible? Outside of a silent launch...? Has there ever been a truely silent launch where a phone just showed up in stores/on-line for order with out an official announcement to the public?

Wow, this place is moving at lightning speed. How is it that we still have so much to talk about? Google just confirmed the specs this morning officially, and we have multiple independant sources confirming a release next week.

I want nothing to do with the city life...like my grass and cornfields instead of cement and skyscrapers...if that means no 4g so be it

Excellent point. My little slice of Chicago that's a 5 minute walk from Wrigely is really a concrete jungle. Aside from my yard. And the beach that is a 5 minute walk away. And the dog park. And the 3 parks with ballfields. And Lincoln Park. And Diversey Park. And the trees that form a canopy on my street.

Loosen your overalls. I wasn't taking a swipe at your corner of the world. It was an opportunity to invoke one of the best movies ever. You like cornfields and dirt roads? Groove on, just don't be so defensive.

In other news, I just called the Verizon store near my office to confirm my upgrade date, they made a pitch for the RAZR, I said nah, I'm waiting for the GNex, I got silence, then, "Well, we're not sure when that is coming in." Me: "The rumor is that it will be in early next week." Him: "Um, well, that's, uh, not for sure." Me: "I'll see you next week." Him: "OK, see you then."
