Well, you guys and this damn phone have officially made me loose my mind!!!!! I am officially considering paying my cancellation fees for 2 of my lines on T-mobile and coming over to VZW....belirve it or not, it won't be that much more expensive. It will only be 20 bucks more a month, because they give a teacher discount here, and my data will actually work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get 200kb to 50kb download speed in my area on tmo...I can't even download my google voice messages most of the time. Will I have to pay an activation fee??? They wave those for people paying early termination fees to come from another network don't they???

When I switched from ATT they waived 2 activation fees and gave me a lots of free accessories to make up for the ETF. I came over for the 2 for 1 Fascinate offer they had.

Ya know Kate, I saw that pop up and immediately reacted with an "OOH!". But then thought about the emotional strain I've endured with our current love-device. I quickly spanked myself and reluctantly decided to purchase the ASUS Prime... ya know, since its the most likely to come out very soon.

i understand completely re: the emotional strain. but, for me, a tablet is going to be an end-of-the-year-i-got-my-xmas-bonus-and-i'm-gonna-splurge purchase -- so i got a little bit of time before signing up for more angst and emotional roller coaster rides. :)

So the 18th? Isn't that what the piano teachers-students-mom said? Wouldn't that be funny.

I'm the mom's piano student's mom guy BTW :P And yes, she said it would launch on the 18th but it seems that it will launch next week and this Friday will simply be the official release date announcement and pre-orders. You can't deny that I was at least somewhat accurate though!

Also, I had a question. Any chance the Galaxy Nexus is announced tonight? I follow @SamsungMobileUS and they posted last night, "If you thought tonight was fun, just wait until tomorrow night!!!" Any thoughts?

I don't believe Samsung will be making the announcement. When pressed, Google and Samsung representatives have said they are waiting for Verizon.

$299 is the 2-year contract price I am shown. I guess 9 years with VZW isn't considered loyal enough...

maybe someone can 'splain these prices I'm getting? $30 discount?

I'll believe it when I get the email saying it's preordered. :)

Long time lurker here as well... Now I feel official, I have the OG droid rooted and on its last leg... cannot wait for this phone to come out so I can give the OG the goodbye it deserves, a proper one!

Been lurking for a few days now and I thought I'd post. This will be my first smartphone. I've been waiting for a new phone for over a year. I have a Samsung Alias (the first one) which I got back in March of 2009 and have been waiting on a phone since November of 2010. This thing is on it's last legs. The charge port cover is missing and I have to use the car charger with an DC/AC inverter in the house because it doesn't work with the AC charger anymore.

First I wanted the Verizon IPhone then when that was just the old model I waited for June when IPhone 5 was supposed to come out. Then June rolled around and nothing. I waited, and waited and I said if IPhone 5 doesn't do it for me, I'll get the Bionic. Then the IPhone 4S came out and I was very disappointed. So I heard about the Nexus and I was like this is it, this is the phone for me. So I've been wanting this phone so bad for so long.

This is also the first phone I'll actually spend money on. The last phone I had before the Alias was the original Razr, back when that was a free phone.

So come on Nexus! I want!

GET THE HELL OUTTA TOWN.

You are not THE real MPSMG

Yeah the CSR's get extra $ for new smart phone customers so they'll give you whatever you want lol. When iphone4 came to verizon they got $25 for each one and would give lots to get people to switch haha

Sorry man. :( I guess I DID get it afterall.

By the way.... #100 baby! :)

I guess it wasn't such a great #100 post, except that I learned I do have the $50 loyalty credit, which is cool.

Any post to help us to get to the #1 thread is worth of your #100 post. Also if I am not mistaken you have attained full member status. Congrats!

Hey everyone :) another Lurker coming out into the open, been following this thread for awhile and have been eagerly anticipating this phone since It was announced (still on a dieing OG droid). I don't think I have ever been this excited for a phone!

What are everyone's thoughts about 3rd party retailers getting the phone next week if it actually is released? I always buy my phones from Best Buy (best friend works in the mobile department and always holds any phone I want on release day and hooks me up) plus financing the 300 is always nice. Unfortunately if next week is the release date and its only corporate stores I may just splurge at the VZW store rather than wait, I have to charge my OG droid 2-3 times a day with minimal usage!

Does anyone know if Fedex or whoever will just leave the phone by the door... or does someone have to sign for it?

In my case, I print out the order confirmation and a note to the driver with my signature. My fedex confirmation usually shows that "indirect signature" is required.

Always works for me. YMMV

They will leave it at the door with a signature release note/letter. I've done everytime I've ordered a phone from VZW. But I do think that it is somewhat the discreation of the driver if he feels ok leaving it.

How about we all call our nearest Verizon store and post anything we hear? If they can put us through all this stress then we should give them a little of their own medicine!:D

Well - please be positive. No need to be harsh to low level employees who have zero to do with this decision at all.

We choose this stress, we don't need to choose more for them, imo. :) ;)

Thanks! :) Glad I can contribute to the thread, if only in volume. The only info I've gotten that I passed along was from a friend of a friend who works in VZW management and said it was releasing ~Black Friday. Could have been something lost in the translation (meaning: before Black Friday), or perhaps they won't have them in-store until the 25th. I'm still hopeful for the pre-order tomorrow and in-store on the 21st!

Welcome! If you can't tell by the massive thread, everyone is excited about this phone, from the expert Android Gurus, to the new to the game folks like yourself. I believe everyone is underestimating this phone, make sure you get your order in early, or get in line early, I would hate for any of us here to have to endure this thread closing without having their phone in hand or on order.

That has to be one of the craziest Groom's cakes I have ever seen.

Disturbing was actually the first word that popped into my head.

Every time I've had a phone sent to me, someone has had to sign for it. I typically have to have it shipped to work. That said, Verizon shipped a replacement phone to the wrong address once (long story) and Fed Ex just left it there. So I don't know if there is any rhyme or reason.
