If it wasn't for 720p and Amoled I would be looking elsewhere. ICS has some cool features but things like no flash and no micro sd would be a deal breaker for some. I really don't mind. It's comical how much the iPhone has been ridiculed for those very same things.

This is the reason I will never rule out another phone, like the Rezound for example. It is really nice and my second choice right now, but I never say never with tech. Ok, so maybe I'll say never to the iPhone, but that is probably about it.

OK, recycling posts now Early? :p:D Definitely not the first time I've seen the digital furniture reference. lol Guess this is what happens when there is nothing left to talk about in the vacuum that is PR from Verizon about a phone release.

Don't let Early know you are paying that much attention to him. It gives him a big head. :p

Ok well, I hope he's right because apparently I will be sans internet during my move over the holiday from Tuesday till Friday! The radio on the Charge isn't powerful enough to get me good reception for calls let alone 4g - so the Gnex is my only hope!

I needed to get in on the Star Wars references! ;)

If the Nexus has the same radio as the Samsung Charge, then this phone will be a huge FLOP.

I don't care if it has flash or not, I don't care if its 16gb or 32gb, I don't care if its HD or not and I only care a little bit if its 4g. Personally I have no need for a phone of this caliber, its just one of those things I want. The only thing I really care about is it having ICS.

The Verge stated something like the Nexus had the best & fastest browser they have tested. I wondered if that was because of omitting flash? If so that's fine by me.

I don't know if it was ICS, the hardware or LTE, but the Nexus' browser is faster than any phone I have used. Hell, it is faster than two of the computers I own.

whatever, once the Red Droid Incredible 2 drops, this forum is going to be a ghost town.

Its RED, guys.

RED!

I seriously lol'd. :D Is that really the only difference between the two of them? Why even spend the money to recycle it in a different color?

I have a feeling we're going to all be up late Tuesday to see what Verizon updates too...

I know I'll be swinging by the nearest Verizon corporate store on Wedenesday afternoon (half day), just in case Verizon forgot to announce the launch and see if there are Nexi on the shelves :D

I'm surprised not many people are talking about NFC. For me that is a big reason I am waiting. I know it is not broadly available yet, but hopefully over the next 2 years it will be.
all I know is that I will be shopping at 7-11 A Lot more.

That's one feature I never see myself using. Too me it just seems like a really good way for information to be stolen.

I'm not counting on this myself. I don't have faith in Adobe following through to make Flash work on ICS after they've already announced they are no longer developing it for mobile devices. I think we all need to face the fact that Flash is going the way of the Dodo bird.

If you are buying Android solely for Flash support I believe this will soon be a moo point (yes, moo. It's a Joeyism from Friends).

+1 on the moo point. hahaha. joey... hillarious.

"like a cows opinion, it doesnt matter.... its moo" hahahaha.

I really hope it's not the same as the Charge - I've had some big issues with mine. Nothing where I would go return it this second and use my OG again, but it definitely has a hard time locking on to GPS and I have worse reception than other VZW users in the exact same location. My boyfriend's iPhone 4 has better reception in our house which is in a fringe/dead spot. I haven't had the same issue with it switching back and forth between 3g and 4g like some people reported on here though, so I can stick it out till the Gnex lands. But if I has the same radio, I'll have to get the Razr (Honestly, I just really dislike the form-factor of the Rezound even if some of the specs are better).

I am deeply conflicted on this one.

I'm waiting to see what security protocols are put in place.

By itself, NFC is just a radio standard, not so different than Bluetooth.

So - I keep looking at all of the good ways Bluetooth enhances things - and all of the bad ways it's insecure. :(

I think it will be interesting to have and I look forward to its advancement, but right now it is like having all your rewards cards on your phone with KeyRing. I comes in incredibly handy, but 80% of the stores I go to can't scan the stupid bar codes. I went to Safeway, King Super and Petsmart yesterday while shopping and only one of them didn't have to manually type in my code. I am looking forward to a day when everyone gets on board and updates their hardware. I also wonder if there will be an Isis vs Google wallet thing like there was with HD DVD and Blueray. I know that having both apps on the phone will be possible, but it is always easier to just have one.

Agreed -- maybe some day, but a) its not readily available and b) I'm trying to be more prudent and judicious in how I use internet and technology for private information like banking.

Yes, but at least one source posted here since Friday quoted Google as saying that an ICS update for Flash was coming.

I suspect that many apps that restrict access or installation, there's a simple look-up table to see if something is good to go on a particular phone or revision.

If the app is ok and the lookup table is off, then just updating that table solves the problem.

This is exactly what was done (by an independent dev) to get video conferencing in Skype working on the Thunderbolt, Evo, SGS and others not so many months back.

However - HTML5 (with wrapping for better video codecs) is really the way to go, and the way we expect that most sites can/will go.

Flash tends to be a resource hog - memory, especially cpu cycles, the whole bit.

I agree with all of the above, but I suspect it's either hard or impossible to port Flash to a new Android architecture w/o the assistance of Adobe. I have no insider knowledge, but unlike most programs Flash seems to have tight integration with the OS and esp. the video drivers (probably even more w/Flash 11 and its 3D support?), so it couldn't be modified w/o the source code which I don't think Adobe has ever provided. So you could root a device and force an installation, but it might FC right away.

But... it is possible that Adobe could go all benevolent and decide to release the sources after they consider it a truly dead product. I'm not sure that'd be ideal, cuz I wanna see it stay dead too. :p

Apparently the NFC chip used to store payment info has its own password and security protocols. So someone just "acquiring" your phone - IF they can log in - can't spend a dime unless they can hack your NFC PIN.

I think it'll be fairly secure :)

The way I see it, if you are willing to hand your credit card to a waiter, have them walk off with it, and bring it back 5 minutes later - youre already putting a certain amount of faith in the system

I agree. My dad's card was compromised at a restaurant a few months back. Hand held skimming devices are BAD news

A moo point: It's like a cow's opinion... It doesn't matter.

Love that show!
