So the incredible thread was open for 81 days and it racked up 47,904 posts during that time.

This thread has been open for 92 days and it's still well over a thousands posts to go until it matches the original DInc thread.

It's safe to say that nothing will beat the DInc thread......not even this one. This thread had to hit 47,905 on Nov. 12th in order to beat it on an evenly timed level. It's the pushed release date that kinda killed the race here.

Nice try, though!

Eh.. not necessarily.. this thread took about a month and half or two months to start growing. That one took off as soon as it started. We have to compare apples to apples. If you look at the stats and charts, you'll see that once this thread really took off, it was as epic as the Dinc thread. There are charts somewhere in the thread.

Thanks

Thanks that's exactly what I was wondering about, and even though this thread may not technically beat the Inc one it still has been and is a pretty amazing thread.

Welp, the ReZound got S-off. That got rid of my last hesitation to pick the phone up, so I'll probably grab one when I get back to town on Monday and give it a trial run. Who knows, I may end up keeping it now that it can be rooted and ROMed fully.

Wow, cool! Do you have a link?

Do yourself a favor and load up MIUI. Not a sarcastic reply, I really think you should. It FLIES compared to Sense on the Inc, and brings a lot of functionality to the table.

I can second this. The Dinc2 got a ton smoother has better battery life once I slapped MIUI on it.

They'll release it. They have warehouses full of them and they can't just send them back to Samsung. Also, they're getting bombarded with GNex inquiries, and if they weren't going to release it, they'd just tell us so to shut everyone up.
I have become skeptical of Verizon having warehouses full of them already. Surfing around elsewhere, I have found indications of persons testing engineering models of the LTE version and getting a new engineering version this month. Admittedly, the information is limited enough to support multiple interpretations, but there is enough to support the notion that there have been some recent hardware changes.

I think VZW is sophisticated enough to be cautious about filling the warehouses too early. I also can understand why VZW would be reticent to trumpet the problems too loudly.

Very EXCELLENT post!!!! Let me ask a question, though: If all you say is true and correct (and I am not doubting it because it DOES make sense), is it then fair to say that it was really GOOGLE and SAMSUNG who "screwed the pooch" on this launch by announcing it, unveiling it, and TELLING THE WORLD about it back in October in Hong Kong if it was really, truly, a solid 1.5 to 2 MONTHS from being "ready for prime time"??

If that Hong Kong event doesnt happen, then we have a LOT less anger, angst, and bad mojo towards VZW in this thread, don't you think?
Yes. The problem, however, is the HSPA and LTE versions seem to have been on separate development tracks. This has been mentioned in the mean time by nj02vette here. If you go ahead with the announcement when the LTE version is not ready, LTE carriers get unhappy. If you delay the announcement for further work on the LTE version, HSPA carriers wanting to go ahead and roll out their version get unhappy. Someone is unhappy either way. Of course, delaying announcement of the phone also delays Google's announcement of Ice Cream Sandwich, because they need to show it on something.

Thinking about the unhappiness, was there not discussion in this thread shortly after the Hong Kong event that there was a lot of frustration inside VZW about the announcement or some related aspect of the situation? If I am recalling this correctly, this could be why.

Look, I am no Verizon apologist. I have been dealing with them for a long, long time in multiple contexts, and I have a sense of how they work. And it is there history that makes many of the conspiracy ideas so believable. However, I have begun to think that VZW is, at least in part, grappling with some underlying technical issues of a non-trivial variety.

I've tried it, too much like the fruit OS for me(totally a personal thing). To be honest I never had speed or lag problems on my Dinc. with Sense.

Unless I was playing around sense 3.0 or 3.5... Which were neat to play with but to be honest the phone just doesn't have the hardware to run. I expect the same thing when someone ports ICS to it. the new OS's just take too much juice.

I've had just about everything on my phone at one point CM6, CM7, MIUI, sense 3.0, 3.5... I spent probably 3-4 days playing with CM7 to realize I was trying to get the functionality I liked in Sense back.

That's the nice thing about Android its customizable , For me Sense provided the right amount of easy to use out of the box, but still allow me to tweak what I want...

That's understandable, and you're exactly right, to each their own should be the Android official motto.

Coming from the Eris, I just finally got bored with Sense, and MIUI offers such a huge level of customization that I never could get bored on it and it was much more polished than the CM variants I tried.

I love how people base their personal cut-off dates on rumors. If that's how we do it, then when the world doesn't end in 2012, how many people will leave for Mercury? It may not be as nice there, but at least you'll know you'll be dead.

Based on rumors because Verizon can't seem to give us anything concrete. But thanks anyway

The incredible thread was really part 2 (or was it 3) starting from the vze HTC passion rumors.

Look at it this way. My LTE speeds on my Razr are faster than my home Internet speeds. (Fastest Fios Internet package)

You are really getting that fast of speed? I don't see how that's possible. I'm on the third highest tier and I get 42 megs down. There is also 50 Meg and 100 Meg available. What speeds are you getting on LTE?

MIUI always was laggy as heck on my OG Droid. Every build, froyo and gingerbread. Always with the lag. Every other ROM i've ran has been fine.

Pretty weird. It definitely wasn't on the Inc, could have been a poor porting team (though I doubt it) or it was just too intensive for the RAM on the OG.

By the way, least I be accused of being too soft on VZW ;), I will share a bit of humor heard elsewhere long ago about its parent, Verizon. Back when Bell Atlantic and GTE merged, the companies announced that the merged entity would take the name Verizon, a portmanteau of the Latin word veritas, meaning "truth," with "horizon." This led to an observation that the new name fit quite well:
for them, truth was always on the horizon! :D

Hmm, my memory could be faulty but I swear that I read that putting an ATT sim into the Euro spec Nexus would not give you access to HSPA+ here. You would have a 3g only Nexus.

Please correct me if I'm wrong as I don't want to be a purveyor of misiformation.

I believe you will get hspa + if you use an att simcard due to gn being an pentaband phone yes no?

A lot of people have been posting scores (consistently) in the 30-50 range, depending on the area obliviously.

I get 5 up and 10-16 down :( on crapcast cable

Opinions are always welcome here.

I had hoped the release would have gone more smoothly, too. Not going to lie and say I'm not disappointed, just that I can see all sorts of factors, some mentioned, and other not mentioned, that can affect the situation.

But I will leave you with one bit of info.
The GSM models were manufactured first. LTE models hadn't been finalized at the Hong Kong announcement, since they didn't give a finished thickness for the LTE model. That tells me, LTE models were going to come after GSM models, unless the GSM models are going to be held up as well (no point in that).

So by that logic, I wasn't expecting to see LTE models released the same time as GSM models. I knew they'd be delayed, just not sure by how much.

That's not info, it is your guess. I was told last Wednesday that the release was end of November but Samsung and Google ready and it should have been out with the GSM release. NDAs got in the way of being to specific but there was a "software" problem holding the Verizon version back though like I said, Samsung and Google were ready.

My guess is that the reason the GSM version came out on the 17th and not earlier was because of Google/Samsung.

I'm not sure. Some people say they are awesome, but either I'm too picky about my home screen transitions or it just runs crappy on my Droid.

Unfortunately, there been WAY too many rumors, flying around and nobody is going to come out with the truth. Either because they screwed up or they don't want to hurt their business relationship by calling the other out (even if its true).

The people that REALLY know are probably few enough in number that their not going to talk.

Personally, I'm of the opinion of wanting to blame VZW, I think their playing corporate games. BUT I have absolutely no evidence to back that up.

they are no facts at all, to really support one view or another :P
