***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I apologize...I didn't see this until today.

Yes, the plan was to go GSM from the get out...and so far so good.

The browsing experience has gone to a whole new level, and outside of not having any experience with Android, it has been alot of fun.:)

I'm trying to think of the apps I have on the iPhone, and find the similar ones of the Android market place.

I find the all the buttons and drop down menus well thought out, but still struggle with the widget thing.

I also found a nice skin at the Verizon store, and was treated like a celebrity when I said it was for the Google Nexus...you could've heard pin drop. The skins were being held in the rear room strangely, and everyone had to hold it, some approached like it was the Holy Grail. I also found a nice leather case at ATT that would accomodate the phone in the skin, albeit a bit tight, but has loosened a bit since yesterday. Goes in and out pretty easily now.

I really hope my GNex arrives early if/when I pre-order it, so I can go to the Verizon store and have people flock to me for having the newest phone before anyone else ^_^

OCing = more strain on the battery... considering you're already getting 1.2 GHz dual-core, I don't see why people would feel the need to OC.
I'm with you. That will be such a nice speed bump over my Droid 2 I see no reason to suck away more battery and decrease stability.

At least at first. :D

I'm here. I'm just in and out. I am preoccupied with a lot of things going on right now, but I'll be checking in from time time. Try not to kill each other! ;)

I only want the spot to put my Beautiful Widgets there at the top. Are you saying it can't do that?

And BTW, I'm in Marlton too.

A local... nice.

I had a feeling that even though he could hide the search bar that it wouldn't let him put anything in its place (icons or widgets). Looks like I was right.

lol wow. I can't believe some people would say things like that >_> (since we're basically 100000000000% certain it can't possibly be delayed until 2012)...

I don't think this woman knew what she was talking about, but I definitely don't see it as impossible that they delay this phone until 2012. I really don't understand their motivation to do this, but never underestimate Verizon. Keep in mind most Canadian providers won't get the GSM version until January so nothing would shock me.

Still hoping for this week though. :P

Zero credibility. She's paid on commission. Her job is to sell you what she has, not what she doesn't have. I'm sure she was hoping you'd say, oh well in that case, what phone do you suggest that is out now? At which point she shove you into an iPhone 4S or a Razor.

I'm not sure if they're on commission or not, but you're probably right. I don't think any of them care about potential future sales right now.

I'll certainly try it.

Stability is king though.

You can't say that loud enough or emphatically enough. I give a big Amen to that statement. If I had a dollar for all the times that I OC my Dinc only to have it crash and get stuck in a bootloop forcing me to flash a backup, I would have enough money to get my Gnex for free.

How about this?
Stability is king though.

If not, I tried :)

Try not to kill each other! ;)

No worries about that. However of I cannot stop my obsession with monitoring this thread while at work I may kill someone else and loose my license. :)

Hopefully there will be a nexaholic program I could go to and get reinstated.

The article doesn't explicitly state it, but I'm assuming it's referring to the GSM versions? I would be surprised if they suddenly came out with a statement about the LTE version.
True, but it makes sense they would halt LTE deliveries too until they isolated and repaired the problem in case it was common to both phone types.

I have a question for you guys (since you all seem to know a lot about how this stuff works):

I want to upgrade to the GNex, along with my mom (who has a DInc), but my sister (who also has a DInc) complains that she needs a new phone more than I do (I got a Thunderbolt for ~7-8 months, then sold it in anticipation for the GNex).

Basically, we only have two upgrades available soon (one from this August--mine--and one for 12/29, which I will ask to be moved up). The next upgrade after that isn't until July 2012... so my question is, how would we go about satisfying everyone? Keep in mind that I MUST have the GNex ;)

BTW my sister missed out on the free DInc2 deal (although that would have used up one of our upgrades)...

An interesting point about this could be made. What if it was suppose to launch this past week, and verizon was waiting on the shipments. But once the bug was found, and google didn't know the source, they/samsung froze shipments and left verizon out to dry. Or conversely, verizon froze shipments from warehouses. But now that they know the source of the bug, and have resumed shipments, they start shipping out both versions. Then maybe we could get something late this week or next week.

It's a shot in the dark, and perhaps hopeless optimism, but it's a possibility.

Here is my question. Why would Verizon pay for exclusive rights to the phone if they are releasing it around the same time/or later than all the other announced carriers? Seems like a waste of money and a bad business strategy. So instead of only being able to get the phone through VZW, customers now have a choice of carriers. Seems stupid.

So just to do my part to add some feel goods:

1) 17th UK gets it's gsm GNex and immediately have volume issues.
2) Misreleased ads show Verizon at some point in the past was expecting to have Gnex for BF
3) Many insides sources were pointing to last week after as being the week only to find out Monday it had been delayed which coincidentally was on heels of this gsm bug.
4) GSM 'bug' fixed and shipments resuming.
5) Barring any further bugs that may exist we are not privileged to know about I am predicting.......wait for it!!!

A release by the end of the year

It would only seem fair if the person's whose line has the upgrade be the one who gets to use it.

It's an exact image of your rom, including apps, data and your configuration settings. It's a snapshot of your phone at a moment in time.

If you or any app or any update breaks something you can restore to a previous and happy point with minimal effort.

I find it to be a life saver. Never tinker with roms, kernels or overclocking without it.
Okay, got it. And can the phone make these backups by itself, or does it need some sort of external program?
