Maybe what we really need is OTDs list of things not to do to VZW CSRs while trying to obtain info, and apply it here.
Thread seems to have gone off the deep end... Is it still reasonable to assume good information can still be produced by this thread?
But anyways, Morning GNexers. Notice I didn't say Good Morning. Well that would be because I drove off with my coffee on the roof of my car this morning. No coffee = no good.
5. Don't tug on superman's cape
6. Don't spit into the wind
7. Don't pull the mask off the ol' lone ranger
8. And don't mess around with mods wielding ban-hammers
To be fair we are just part of the internet recycle-fest at this point.
Android news hits my twitter feed and it goes.. Droid-Life-->MyDroidWorld-->Android Central-->etc, etc..
True official word from Verizon is the only cure for this. Not cousin's maybes and friend of a friend possibilities.
I'm not convinced this thread will produce much useful information now, other than someone saying "OMG HEY, LOOK AT THE VERIZON WEBSITE!!!!111!!!!11!"
If anyone takes that out of context...um...lol?

the sgn will only be my second verizon phone, the first being the original droid. in your opinions, which is the best way to order? online overnight shipping, in store on release date, or a third-party-esque store like bestbuy?
Depends on a couple things. Online overnight is good because it is directly through VZW and you can see all your info online. In Store your get instant gratification but sometimes the rep can't apply a. You discounts you have. Third party is good from what I hear but I've never gone that route so I can't say for sure.
I mentioned this a few thousand posts ago, but it still applies - the problem is that the only real info to be had at this point is the release date. Ever since the Hong Kong announcement (and even before then) we've known: what it looks like, what's inside, how the OS looks, how the OS runs, etc. We know dang near everything about the device, except when we can have one of our own. Most other issues or questions can only be answered by using the device. We've been so close for so long, the anticipation is getting to people - completely understandable, but it doesn't change the fact that there really isn't any new info to be had until we get our hands on it.

i got the original droid from bestbuy, and i just want to get the sgn as soon as i can. it seems like in a verizon store is the best route for that, i just hope they can honor my first (and unfortunately, last) NE2 discount.
anyone else get that $50 voucher for accessories that was posted over the weekend? hopefully they have car and home docks out at launch that i can use that for.

So folks, what did I miss over Thanksgiving? I honestly haven't looked since Wednesday and that was very refreshing. Now it's back to work and non-stop worrying about when I get a new phone.

I did, it can be used on devices too by the way. I expect to use it to purchase the Gnex.
Thank you for tuning in to This Week in Galaxy Nexus Rumors, brought to you by Tylenol and Pepto-Bismol. Here's the latest, coming from a long time member of Android Central, who has been right before and wishes to remain anonymous.
- The name will be the Nexus Prime.
- The phone was to be released before Thanksgiving, but software issues are holding it back. Verizon exec's want the phone released before Christmas, even if that means bugs aren't fixed and a patch will need sent.
- Coming in March, unlimited data will be no longer grandfathered to those that upgrade their contract or make any plan changes.
My take on these:
Number one sounds absolutely insane. Accessories are already made, and the packaging for them says Galaxy Nexus. But. Verizon would like to differentiate their product, and since it's technically different from the other versions, this would make a lot of sense. It would make our job much easier with two different names for two different phones.
Number two matches up with what we've been hearing. ICS isn't playing nicely with MyVerizon.apk. Specifically, I've heard there are authentication issues and folks wouldn't have access to Verizon areas of the Android Market, including VCast. This means software people paid for won't be available, and that's not making anyone happy.
Number three -- we knew it was coming eventually. Start saving your pennies so you can buy phones outright and not extend your contract. It's worth it to keep unlimited data on a device that gets 40M/sec downloads.

Seven! Seven bats! Ah ah ah!you forgot to include Count von Count; he's the best when it comes to counting![]()
Hmm, probably just a defective unit. Still a tiny bit worrisome though.Son of a nutcracker...is this old news? Battery not charging now?
The chipsets in both phones are manufactured by different companies. The Rezound has a 1.5 GHz chip from Qualcomm, where the Nexus has a 1.5 (underclocked to 1.2) GHz chip from Texas Instruments. TI's chip is a little newer, IIRC, and has a better GPU. I watched a benchmark video for the Nexus yesterday; while the scores were poor, the reviewer hypothesized that the benchmark programs were simply not optimized for Ice Cream Sandwich yet, which sounds legitimate.as for the 1.5 in the rezound vs the 1.2 in the nexus, they say in a lot of places the rezound is faster hardware, and would be faster if it wasn't for sense. But in this thread it's oftne quoted the nexus 1.2 is faster. not sure who to believe. what is probably true is the graphics card on the nexus is faster than the rezound's. but the graphics card on the nexus is a lot slower than the iphone 4s and the s2. there was a benchmark posted of it earlier.
Haha, you don't often see "env2" and "reliability" in the same sentence. I had one of them for over a year before I got my OG Droid, and it sucked. Would turn itself off all the time, keys would get stuck, dropped calls, etc.yep, i'm rocking an nv2 right now, haha. goodbye reliabiliy of nv2...sigh
