***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Not a bad idea. Should I end up keeping my Rezound, I believe I'll do just that. If I don't keep my Rezound, I'll have to somehow keep the headphone jack being on the bottom of the Nexus from driving me crazy.

So many varying opinions on this. I love the idea of a headphone jack on the bottom love it!

I must be an idiot because I can't figure out for the life of me how to contact a CSR via live chat on verizon's websit.

Here is what I did exactly.

Signed on>clicked on "upgrade my device">added the Razr to my cart>picked the data package I wanted>clicked continute> then once I got to the option to add warranty, at the top of my screen there was a red button that said "chat live" or something like that and voila!

I have put the LTE switch app to LTE only (w/voice) and it sits there for about ... 15 seconds then goes into 1X.

But I guess my question was answered, if phone is in LTE/CDMA it will automatically connect to 4g when available, unlinke sprint "4g" wimax (which is like searching for wifi)

So the signal in my area isn't strong enough. Hmmph. I do have WiFi at home, but I'm just a nerd and wanted to speed test that LTE goodness. Thanks for the help

You can't. You have to wait for them to contact you. IME, they will bug you as soon as you log in if you're trying to browse, but if you log in and sit there and try to get someone to start a chat, they totally ignore you. Sigh.

As much as I would like to be upset and bash Verizon, I can only hold them to their press release statement of the Gnex being released later this year. They have until 12/31 to live up to that. It would be a PR nightmare (as if they're not already in one) to go back on the only public statement they have made on the release of the device. I know everyone is upset by the latest rumor, but aside from the PR, that's all it is...plain rumors. I want the Gnex to be released as much as anyone, but I will give them a chance to live up to their PR before making any other decisions.

Now to pitch in on the rumor front, I have to say that as much as some people are turned off by P3Droid, he and his inner circle seem to have pretty good sources. They have been saying for a couple weeks that we are looking into mid-late December for a release. I think they may be onto something. I posted some tweets yesteday by PydePypper who like P3, has a pre-release Gnex. Here are a few more:

In reference to a release date:
My best guess is preOrders wk of 12/5, with store and shipping wk of 12/12. IE wk right before Xmas and no sooner

In reference to bugs and updates:
nothing major just little stuff that is NOT acceptable for release or to someone like google/Samsung/VZW for a flagship device

last thing any of the 3 involved need is a bad release. They will never hear the end of it that is for sure.

believe me you'd rather wait and have it ready for prime time and not release under current SW. And no specific date i've gotten

Don't get me wrong it gets better and better with each update, but say 2 wks ago it was nowhere near ready for prime time.

Again, take all rumors with a huge grain of salt, but it does appear that the guys with pre-release devices had some issues which seem to be getting better with updates. I think signs point to Verizon living up to their "later this year" statement.

I think we need a turnstile to count people as they are leaving this thread and abandoning the Gnex. You know, so we can get an accurate count of how many are left as we close it.

Cincy, it's always sad to see people leave but at least they have a great phone NOW. Besides, new folks and lurkers are joining us all the time so it's not like it'll be a ghost town in here by Launch Day... whenever that is

I have an LTE tab, and good LTE coverage where I live. It'll automatically connect to LTE, then drop down as it loses the connection. We travel a lot and I use it in the car, there's one spot on the Mass Pike where there isn't even 3G coverage so it drops down to 1X. Very annoying. But otherwise seamless network switching.

I don't know if I missed someone else posting this or not, but Verizon mentioned on Twitter that it still plans on announcing the Nexus this year.

Not quite, they said they plan to announce the release this year.

Yea this could totally line up with what Han's sister said. Almost makes me wish I didn't know how awesome this phone was and could be happy with a Vigor...

i noticed something in this teardown, on the first page it mentions the specs of the phone, including 1GB of ram, but on the second page they have taken apart the phone and outline the Ram chip to be 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM, so you can see the confusion, i understand its 512MB of dual channel ram, but that shouldn't be advertised as 1GB of Ram, any insight?

Could be a stacked chip (512 MB stacked on 512 MB).

lets only hope

just figured it out, they list two components:

Samsung KMVYL000LM Multichip Memory Package
Samsung K3PE7E700M 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM

I did some digging and the KMVYL000LM actually includes 512MB of SDRam
Yeah, the iFixit article has now been updated to include the other 512 MB of RAM in the Multichip Memory Package. Nice sleuthing. :)

It very well may be a ghost town here....you know the Mayans and that end of the world thing in 2012.

Saw that info Han posted from his sister. I was very curious so I made a few phone calls and someone told me that they have heard very similar things, but only as discussion*. It's been presented strictly as a "what if" scenario in case further testing reveals difficult bugs.

I do know that there is almost as much confusion here as there is on the internet, because only a small circle of people actually know 100% what's going on. Tidbits here and there are dropped along the way and I pass those on to you. But the Nexus could be announced for pre-order tomorrow morning and I can't say it would surprise me.

*Steven note: As I said in an earlier post, Verizon HAS to put everything out on the table. It doesn't mean it's a done scenario. KEEP THE FAITH, BRETHREN! :D

Not true (sorry, quoting your reply as I'm on the phandroid app). The press release actually says "available".

I love you....uh....i mean, thank you for passing on all of your pearls of wisdom :D you are the glue that keeps this thread alive and i can safely speak for all of us when i say that we would be nothing without you<3

I must be an idiot because I can't figure out for the life of me how to contact a CSR via live chat on verizon's websit.

Just to let all of you know, now when you start a chat now with a CSR at Verizon, there is the following disclaimer and announcement at the top of all chat logs:

Please note, here at Verizon Wireless, we know absolutely nothing about the Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime 4G LTE, this lack of information includes but is not limited to: release date, release price, final name, final color, size of internal memory. Please do not bother asking our customer service representatives any questions about this alleged phone. Thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless.

This phone will be released before Christmas for $199. My predictions is only backed up by a conversation from someone much more then a CSR but w/ nothing official.

Adding more to this only perpetuates the cycle. I am sure of the release coming soon (soon is relative to your desire of this phone) but anything more then an official announcement from VZN for me will mean nothing. I will wait patiently for my $199 Gnex released on or before 12/15/2011.

If I am wrong based on my conversation yesterday I will be placed in great company with so many other sources that we can have one hell of a kegger.

And just to add more to my original post. On lunch break walking past my VZN corporate store stopped by. CSR super friendly and he laughed at me when I asked about the GNex 'I am waiting for that too and the Samsung rep just left about 30 mins ago' 'Any wait is so worth it and do not buy another phone even our apple guy is getting this phone'. He went on to add that he uses google to find out the latest on releases but they honestly are told nothing. Now, if that is not proof enough that any CSR information is not reliable or is coming from the same place we are echo'ing it from then there is no hope for you.

By 12/15 for $199 is my opinion using Occam's Razor philosophy.

Debunk, refute, and debate but my opinion will not be swayed.

I couldn't have said it better so I quoted it.
Thank you Steven and your source. I would thank you myself in PM but I hope you read this and at least smile!
