Can I get a quick update on news. At work, haven't been following.

Still assume release Dec 8th, Pre-order tomorrow maybe, or no pre-order at all? Maybe 5th? What's new?

yes. very irksome. this rez has quite a bit of weight on it. not being able to use the headphones while talking gets the hand tired if held up for an extended time.

Too many forums are rought with these kind of rude replies and I have yet to see a hint of it here until today.

There seems to be a fantastic "good people" to "use the search police" ratio on this board than any other board I am a member of and they are many.

If I see a post that some poor soul needed to, or should have used the search for and do not feel like doing it for him and providing the link I just move on allowing him to perhaps figure it out avoiding the added clutter the "Use The Search" post would have added anyway.

To me seeing the UTS police just gives the forum a bad taste in its mouth.

That said and for example, XDA-developers.com has an official policy to use the search or to not ask questions in developer threads. I think their idea is that they don't want "what does root mean?" in threads with specific patch instructions or that sort of thing. So some questions in some threads end in a lot of pain.

This goes to the heart of something said earlier and it's why I'm replying - if anyone is maybe a little new to rooting or just want to be sure or whatnot, our All Things Root forum for the Nexus is a users helping users venue, with links and pointers to various good stuff on the developers' websites and often to our own group of very fine developers here at AF. The people posting that stuff here are already developer-site savvy and will have done the heavy lifting for you, are likely to be pals you've made here, and that makes rooting far easier.

So, if anyone is new to rooting and intimidated by developer site rules, relax and have no fear, AF is the place for you.

A couple other small issues i have. I really dislike how "flush" the power and volume buttons are, very hard to use at times. I dislike the small ridge that is around the screen (the rubber gasket on the screen), and the screen seems more smudgy than the SGSII that I used for a while.

None of these are huge issues, but I definitely won't be keeping it. Even if the GNex was delayed, I would return it and wait.

The Thunderbolt pulled a "sinking power button" trick where as you use it the power button rebounds less and less to the point where mine is almost flush now. HTC said they wouldn't do that on other phones at the time. I guess they decided they would just design it that way instead.

Makes it hard to hit the power button inside a Seidio case. Unfortunate to hear that the power button the Rezound isn't more pronounced.

There were a few articles floating around about how to fix this on the Thunderbolt, I wonder if you could use any of those "fixes" to make the Rezound button stand out more.

Under what circumstances would it be worth the effort to find saidroot exploit that doesn't use the bootloader unlock feature of a Nexus device? OEMfastboot unlock or whatever it is, seems so easy. What's the benefit of rooting without just unlocking the bootloader?

I'm fairly new to this ROM flashing business. I followed a detailed guide to root and run CM7 on my OG Droid just a few months ago.

My question is were the connectivity issues better or worse than EVERY other LTE phone release prior to RAZR and ReZound. Wouldn't be surprised if even they have their own little connectivity quirks, but my experience with Droid Charge and understanding of other LTE phones so far has been that VZW LTE is awesome, but there are still quirks when it comes to holding a data connection to it 100% of the time. Wouldn't be surprised if such issues aren't even fully devices fault as infrastructure could be a bit glitchy still also in this regard.

Don't think any have been totally unreliable, just not 100%.

Still nothing concrete. Looks possible for the 8th, as long as you have your salt shaker too.

Thanks for the info. I have every intention of returning it, so I'll avoid the flush button fixes for now.

One last thing about the rezound. I'm not thrilled they went with the same back as the incredible. I hope that they improved the material, because I would always carry extra batteries. By the end of my Dinc's life, i had 2 cracks in the back casing from switching batteries often.


Edit: I have to say a couple good things. The bettina (better than retina) display is very nice to look at, and it is narrower than the SGSII, which makes it easier to hold.

1 bit=one entry in binary, either a 0 or a 1 so a bit would be either "0" or "1"

1byte= 8 entries or 8 bits, either bit being 0 or 1 so a byte would be 0000 0000 or any combination of 1's and 0's

a Kilobit would be 1024 bits

a kilobyte would be 1024 bytes or (1024 x 8Bits)

and so on and so forth.

also half of a byte or four bits is a nibble/nyble

Mine is horrific at work, constantly cycling. I actually switch to 3G some days because I have had enough of it. But I know mine is low signal due to the building. Outside, it is very reliable. I am hopeful as the LTE radio tech progresses, this goes away. We will see.
