Do they not know they put this on an android device which you log with a google account which does all this for you? lol i dont get why vzw is doing this.

You would be surprised how many people don't understand that. Usually newer Android users and even then i have seen phone that for whatever reason wont sync ALL contacts so in stead of doing an import/export they just use verizon.

The otherside of that are people coming from other phones or going to other phones that are none Android

Your "Google Contacts" can technically include anyone you've ever emailed. I wouldn't want all those people on my phone. Personally, I like the Verizon Backup Assistant. It's a simple and easy way for me to transfer my important contacts from one phone to another.

Edit: It also includes people you're following on Google+ now. I follow a lot of people I don't necessarily need in my contacts. I know a lot of people will disagree, but I really do like Verizon's Backup Assistant.

The word on the 4.1 version is saying "New Radio Included".

Fill me in on that one please.
How in the world did they manage to take all those phones out of all those boxes and install new radios eh?

:D

Hopefully it doesn't mean there are 2 versions of a Samsung radio in the production run. Their radios are the one thing I remain most concerned about based on my prior experience with Sammy.

Me too, a friend of mine has a charge and gets no signal at my house

That would be referring to the radio software (as opposed to hardware)...

The radio thing has me concerned now. At my home, I use a network extender because my signal is so bad. Not directly outside my home, just inside it. I don't want to deal with dropped calls all the time, especially since we got rid of our home phone years ago. Our cells are our only options.

Sounds like exactly what I experienced with my Charge, horrible reception. I vowed I'd never buy another Samsung, and here I am back again.

I'll tell you this, if the GNex reception is not on par with the great reception I got on the Rezound and others are reporting on the Razr, it's going back. I'd just buy the Rez or Razr and wait for ICS.

For those that haven't experienced it with an LTE phone, there's nothing more frustrating than dropping data and constantly switching from 4G to 3G and back again...to say nothing of how that absolutely murders battery life.

We just won't know the answer to this until these things are out in the wild. I'm not impressed with any reports on this thus far since they are usually not LTE versions and we need a bunch of them out there before arriving at any conclusion. We can only hope.

Good Morning GNexers! I hope everyone had a good night. Here is what we learned last night:

1. Pre-orders are most likely soon, but they WON'T happen without an announcement from Verizon.

2. Try not to call someone a liar unless you are able to prove it definitively. This is for your own good.

3. The hide tags, while a bit of a pain for us app users, are awesome for catching up on posts. If you want to read the hide tags, still skip over Nightangel's and all who quoted him... Trust me on this. ;)

And with that, I have a good feeling about today. Verizon execs will probably have one last meeting today, and the press release will be approved and sent out.

And of course the first question that comes to mind given my prior Sammy experience is why was new radio software needed so soon?

Unfortunately i believe Sammy had yet another poor reception phone out of the gate. From the tester comments it seems like that was the hold-up on the phone in the first place. At least they are being proactive to fix it.

It would appear VZ posted the Samsung Holiday Promo (leaked screenshot), which only includes the Stratosphere and Charge :(

Yup that would be a deal breaker for me also,
I have a droid x now and moto seems to have good radio's
But of course I don't want to be stuck with moto.

Remove the individuals from email and you lose the quick drop down of mail addresses if google didn't save them for you.

As far as Google+ Im sure there is a way to turn off that feature.

Good morning Nexlings! I feel good about today. Not sure we will get anything solid from Verizon's camp but ya never know.

I loved the baby ewok. And I was tired. Lol.

I really "need" something official today. Not that I doubt the 8th with all of these unofficial confirmations, I just want an actual press release from the guys putting out the phone. it will ease my anxiety, hehe

Hmm, I could have sworn that one of our sources (can't remember which - tough to keep them all straight :D) said that it'll be released without a pre-order period, announced on the day of release.
