***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Good morning all. So many topics to cover.

My prediction for today is no official news from Verizon. I'm hoping for a 12/8 release, would prefer a pre-order but still have so much vacation time to burn, I'll take off whatever day the phone either shows up at my doorstep or I show up at Verizon's.

I'm not a fan of the hide tags because it's tough to select them on a tablet (tried last night on my Transformer) and just mucks the thread up. The trick for getting the wheat from this thread's chaff is to look for many thanks on a post (if GalaxyNexus thanks someone, ignore it, s/he's just repeating the over-thanks joke).

Windsock is unpleasant but he's also usually right (which makes me dislike him more).

@BabyBlues, more must-see movies:
The Matrix
Princess Bride (really one of the best movies ever and that's coming from someone who hates cutsey, kiddy crap)
Spinal Tap
Hot Fuzz (only if you get British humour. Brilliant writing!)

I'm sure I'll add to this list.

Remove the individuals from email and you lose the quick drop down of mail addresses if google didn't save them for you.

As far as Google+ I'm sure there is a way to turn off that feature.

NONE of that stuff syncs for me. the only thing that syncs is "My Contacts" which doesn't include Google+, OR people I've just E-mailed. Those show up under "other contacts" . I don't remember doing anything special when I set it up, but it has been awhile...

also, you can adjust the view in "people" so doesn't show anyone without a phone # (this is on a Dinc. they replace the app in ICS so I can't verify it)

AT&T doesn't have LTE. Their 4G isn't like Verizon's.

Edit: Not entirely true, but that phone works on AT&T only, so why test it?

fail.... AT&T does have LTE. It is just no where near as much coverage as Verizon. The SGS2 Skyrocket is an LTE handset on AT&T. They have another one too, don't know the name off of the top of my head.

edit: ninja'd by your edit.

Been waiting a long time to post this and I hope since I am the "rumors" are true...

LESS THAN ONE WEEK AND I WILL BE HOLDING MY NEXUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good day :)

I remember reading that Verizon had the "exclusivity" of the Galaxy Nexus in the states for 3 months, I wonder when that clock started? If it was from announcement at&t could have the phone by the end of January...

man i sure hope so, but the closer we get to Dec 8th without an official press release is a bad sign. i hate to be so pessimistic :(

Fridays are bad days to launch products, generally. For retail, you like the buzz to carry into the weekend, but you also run a lighter staff on the weekend in the corporate offices, so it's good to have the first 24 hours happen during the work week.

Hence the frequent Thursday launches with many retail products - close enough that the buzz won't be lost by the time the weekend rolls around, but if the sh*t hits the fan during the launch, you have Friday to clean it up.

It makes sense that AT&T would want a version specifically for their network. US carriers loathe for a phone to work on another US carriers network, at least when they subsidize it.

Agree with that, but the fact that Verizon allowed BF to pass w/o announcing this device set the course. They already missed an opportunity. So, nothing would surprise me at this point...

I have been able to personally get over my theory that Verizon was treating this phone as a red-headed stepchild. I think they honestly are excited about the phone but had some issues that they didn't want it to release with. That explains why they missed Black Friday (they had ads for it, a $100 discount would have caused lines at Verizon IMO). I think the fact that they missed that opportunity speaks to how serious the bugs were. But it seems to be mostly fixed now. I am expecting a massive ad blitz for this, when you combine Google, Sammy, and VZW.

Sorry to do this to you guys but there has been a slight miscommunication from my contact. Apparently the information I have received about 4.0.2 being the majority build on release may have been slightly outdated. It is very possible that 4.1 may be the build you will see on your devices out of box. Once again, I do apologize for this confusion and please disregard my original post (here) until I am able to reconfirm a few things about the device itself. I will try to follow up today and get back to you guys soon as I have new information.

EDIT: Just to clarify, dates have not changed.

But if they have a release date planned, why not begin advertising before the release date? They're still scuttling it to help sales of RAZR and Rezound.
