OT quick tech related question...

anyone know if it was only amazon that was effected by the TP shortage thing? I just went to Best Buy and preordered it there. So far I got the confirmation email and no cancelation email, but wondering if anyone with their ear to the ground knew more. Thanks!

Has anyone had any success getting there upgrade moved up? Mine is on Dec 29 so I don't think having it moved up 20 days or so should be a problem but I am not sure what the success rate is as of now. I have the Dinc and after the recent update it was working fine but now every time I go into an app and return to the homescreen it is like it has to reload sense. I am looking forward to getting rid of this annoying problem.

I called VZW around the 20th of last month and they were happy to let me purchase the phone at contract value ($299 I'm assuming), but I lost my $50 loyalty discount... which at the time I was willing to give up.

Now, however, I think I'll wait until the 29th. It's pretty close already, and my mentality is I can't justify buying that new Transformer Prime, but if I save money I would have spent anyway I can credit that towards it without feeling too bad about the purchase. Already at $150 counting waiting until my upgrade date and the $100 I'm saving from Sirius over the next five months (called to "cancel", got great discount).

You have to be careful doing that. Last time I did that there was a cop hiding at the gas station and he wasn't to happy with me. I wasn't to happy with the ticket he gave me either.

It's all about being able to talk to people, especially cops, works on most of them too. Last time I got pulled over for a noise ordinance ticket, I talked my way out of it as well as a DUI and got off with a warning. ;) Luckily, I don't get cut off too often so I don't have much of a need to crank it up but I do it to wake up during my commute to work on the interstate and to wind down after work and turn it down when I get off the interstate. I'm just an audio enthusiast that enjoys the sport and the build of it all as well as knowing that my hands created that beast.

yikes. talk about over exposure for our boy. and the iphone seemed quite a bit under exposed. thanks.

makes me wonder what settings they used (if any). i feel like reviews like this should be comparing the best possible settings, not just the default. perhaps they are on auto.

when you look at CNETs reviews of TVs they optimize the image for each individual product. they never use the default settings to compare them to one another. in fact, you can actually find the very same settings to adjust your own tv form their forums.

Just catching up from today's posts...looks like there has been more talking about bringing back OT posts than new information. So we're all still waiting for the 8th then?
I'm in Atlantic City for the night. $10 on red or black? This one's for AF!

So I have an on topic question.......:eek:......I know right? lol Anyways, how often does a new Nexus device come out? And also how often do pure Google(vanilla) devices come out?

One of their biggest complaints was the lack of a dedicated camera button...;)

Where is the iphones camera button?

Who needs a camera button when you can have a shortcut to the camera app and there is the lockscreen camera feature of the ICS lock screen? Seriously:

if(screen_off) {
wakeup();
slide_locker_to_camera();
} else {
touch_camera_shortcut();
}

Seriously? No camera button? Are they reviewing some crappy feature phone? :rolleyes:

pretty mixed review, if u ask me.

They really seemed to be grudgingly giving the phone praise. Every good point had a caveat, such as:

Speed. It is very fast, but this is where we get into murky territory. Because the Galaxy Nexus is currently the only phone natively running Android 4.0, it's tough to tell whether these speed enhancements are coming from the new OS or if the hardware's a smoker. And judging it against other Android phones is comparing apples and oranges.

Murky territory? If it's fast, it's fast.

And the camera button comments I thought were a bit over the top. A physical camera button would be nice to help eliminate blur in pictures but to harp about it like he does felt like he was digging for reasons to not like the phone.

Oh he meant a physical camera shutter (take picture) button. Then that's an even lamer reason to diss the phone. The on-screen take-pic soft button in the camera app is just fine, TYVM.

My Evo didn't have a camera button - my 3vo does.

I prefer no camera button - just touch the glass to focus AND spot-meter the light at that point.

When they gave me a hard button, they made the touch focus-only - weak.

Interesting:
Rezound - blue - maybe correctable with white balance

GalaxySII - pretty natural, a little over exposed, possible adjustment

Nexus - similar to GalaxySII, but more over exposed. I guess that low light sensor works in video too. Hopefully adjustable in settings.

Apple - As usual, great camera.
Really? I thought the fruit phone came in almost dead last, if it wasnt for the rezounds blue tint
