Really? I thought the fruit phone came in almost dead last, if it wasnt for the rezounds blue tint
Ok, I can give you my rational as to what I see.
As you can see, the Rezound looks blue. Look at the whites. As someone mentioned, assuming there is some kind of WB adjustment, this should be able to be remedied.
Look at the GalaxySII. The red brick colors, the other buildings all look pretty natural. It starts to get washed the closer you get to the sky around the building in the distance. This isnt bad, but everything is a little washed. The sky is starting to intrude. Again, this can be fixed with compensation or exposure adjustments.
The Nexus pic is really overexposed and washed out. The brightness from the sky is overwhelming the building in the distance and all other surfaces and textures are too light and washed out. Again, can be adjusted out.
The apple pic seems "dark" to some of you. Actually it is pretty good. Note the building in the distance is not overwhelmed by the sky, the darker areas and foreground colors are pretty true, details in the darker areas are pretty clear, etc.
It obvious that it is either early or late in the day, or very cloudy. No direct sun. The sky is still pretty bright. WWhen you have a bright sky and darker foreground, it is tough to find the balance. Most cameras cant find that balance on "auto". Thats why they have that program with that little mountain picture. If you dont know what that means, sorry, look at your point and shoot. If you overexpose, the sky intrudes and the darker areas are washed out. If you underexpose, the darker foreground is too dark.
Again, look at the building in the background with sky around it as one extreme. Then look to the darker foreground as the other extreme. For this to be "right", you cant fully commit exposure too far in either direction. But, we arent trying to see the sky, so preference has to be to get a true, accurate exposure on everything else without getting the darker areas too dark.
Obviously these were "out of the box" and not adjusted. On that basis, iphone gave the best result of these four with the GalaxySII a decent second. If theRezound wasn't blue, it would be secound, and is second in exposure. It is getting dark on the street, which one looks more natural? Then look at the building and the sky around it.
I am no apple fan. They just have a great phone camera. The other 3 just need more adjustment to shoot this particular shot well. Video is a bear to take with this situation. They all did pretty well out of the box.
