If I were Negative Nancy, I'd question why the tablets are "coming out this month" while the Nexus is "coming soon"...

If I were pumping sunshine id say:

They probably don't want to break the release date of the Galaxy Nexus on the last bullet point of a seperate PR.

More likely to give the GNex its own PR, like they do all phones.

Ok i figured it out. You know those fractions of a second at the end of a year but before the new year that mathematicians and scientists make us add so the calendar and time works correctly? The 'xoom 2' (because I refuse to call them xyboards) will come out in December, but the original info that said by the end of the year, will also be correct because the nexus will be released in those fractions of a second after December is over but before Jan 1st. :p

Maybe they took them off display because it was planned for them to only be there for the weekend.

Maybe they took them off display because there was a bug they didn't want people to see in 4.0.1.

Maybe they took them off display because the reception there wasn't good and didn't want people knocking the phone due to that.

Maybe, maybe, maybe...no one really knows...

You're doing it wrong

Interesting choice of words. It's come to that, hasn't it?

I may be blind, but can you show me where that pix shows there are any in stock??

Read the text under the picture -- Phil just used a picture from his article two weeks ago.

Got word that about 24,000 were delivered today. Another 61k still on order. 500 or so demo/launch units in California.

Darn ninjas -- never even saw them coming...
Maybe because the GNex is coming "soon" - as in this week. And the others are coming "This Month" - as in the next 3 weeks...

I was happy when I read this.

Then I read this:

**Han goes back to staring off into space in that weird mode we get where we, for some reason, don't have to blink for three minutes**

The look of Forrest Gump when little Forrest gets on the bus at the end of the movie.

If I were to say, I will give you $5 this month, and I told someone else I will give you $5 soon, which would you expect to happen first if they were said in the same sentence?

so looking at this picture that was posted by the guy at xda...

...between his middle and index fingers you can see some sort of marking. not shadows. does anyone know if store demo units have any sort of markings on the box?

also i have a rezound box and can add (as other have) that it's a plain black box with verizon and htc raised lettering. the sleeve for the box itself is the same way. for those that mentioned earlier... the iphone 4s box (have one of those sitting next to me) isn't all white. it has the side profile view of the iphone on the lid.

this.... i mentioned it earlier, but i had in my mind this entire time that they were only going to be displayed over the weekend.... it seems like in my mind one of the headlines over the weekend read something like "gonna be in NYC this weekend? go check out the nexus at the samsung experience", which lead me to think it was only for the weekend

lmao so my boss just walked in (of course everyone wasn't working) he walks in the door:
ALRIGHT EVERYONE SHUT UP...JUST SHUT UP!!!!!

I sometimes have the same urge to do that in this forum...one day....

I really think people are over-thinking this. It seems pretty clear to me that Samsung jumped the gun by putting the phone on display before it was released. (Weren't we all surprised when we heard it was actually on display early? We were right to feel that way.) Verizon, their business partner, asked them to take it off display.

Why? Because there's a huge amount of interest in this phone. If people are curious enough to make a special trip to a store to see it, Verizon wants them coming to *their* stores. They are contractually entitled to the first release in the U.S., so I imagine they were not at all happy that the Samsung store was stealing their thunder.

It says nothing at all about how far we are from a release. Considering how cagey Verizon is with information, I'm sure they'd make the same request whether the release was a month away or 24 hours away.
