I would say there's almost no chance this is accurate. Are they really going to hand one customer the phone and then turn around and tell another that they can't have it yet? There's just no way they would set themselves up for that kind of customer service drama.

When I got my DroidX on release day they only sold it to me because I WAS an existing Verizon customer. I got the last one they had in the store. I remember calling the store that day and the CSR asked me "Whether or not I was already with Verizon?" she then said "Good, I can sell it to you then." Take it FWIW.
 
I just received my TPU case for the GN. I know it's not the phone, but I can at least hold something in my hands. Having the case almost assures me there will be something soon to go inside. :D
 
They just need to give us a release date already so that I can actually focus on studying for my finals rather than checking this thread every 5 minutes!

I figured since everyone was calling their local verizon store is that I might as well give it a shot. I called my local store in central new jersey and I asked about getting the phone without having it touched by anyone at the store. He said that it wouldn't be an issue they would just have to activate it in their systems but they wouldn't even need to touch the phone. I've been asked about the galaxy nexus. He was very eager about the phone and only mention that it is very close and he emphasized that it is just around the corner. She kept repeating that it's very close n right around the corner literally right around the corner. He then told me to go to the verizon website and sign up for any notifications I guess fulfilling whatever canned answer that he is supposed to give. Take that for what its worth and please don't take too much salt with it because we're running very very dangerously low on salt.

Call me a skeptic- that's fine, and accurate. You are entitled to that opinion. I've never said anyone was stupid. That last line in your post is a disservice to the point I understand you're trying to make. If the eternal optimists are entitled to their voice and opinion, then the realists and skeptics should be entitled to theirs. I have not called ONE person out (with the exception of Scott, to whom I apologized. And the post below, I believe is fair enough considering the comment it was replying to. And with the smiley was hoping it would be taken in jest.) I do my best to NOT continue to beat on one theory or comment from any user. I DO TRY to voice my opinion and move on. That being said, I will happily continue this debate in PM if you like. Doing so here does nothing but massage the ego of those wishing to argue for the sake of arguing. Sorry if I offended your touchy-feelers.

Don't jinx me, my OG is hang'n on by a thread. Last night I was trying to take a picture with flash (after waiting the 20min for the camera to come up) and only 1 of the LEDs flashed so half my pic was shrouded in darkness. The end is near!

It seems I will have to forfeit my grandfathered unlimited data this week. My employer is offering to pay my cell phone bill IF I transfer my phone to the corporate account. I can't justify paying $100/month just for unlimited data so my time has come to say goodbye to unlimited. I'm hoping I at least get the double data deal. If not, not a big deal. I'm not paying the overages anyways, right? :)

so he takes my cuffs off, and says "Let the professionals handle this. That what the interrogation room is for." and puts the verizon guy in his squad car, tells me he will be in touch and then drives off with the guy.

so get excited, we should know something soon!!!!
