I just got home from Baseball practice and I had a message from my VZW rep from our local corp. store here in Owasso, OK. I call her back and ....

She told me that the Nexus was coming out Thursday. She said that they were not getting much stock in. First question I ask was if there had been an official announcement from Verizon because I had been away from the blogs since about 2:45 - 3:00, pathetic I know, She said, no, that right now they are doing an "informal" announcement to the people who had been reaching out to them about the phone, because there won't be much stock. Next thing she said was....will you be interested in a "MIDNIGHT LAUNCH"???? My answer....uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......YES!!!!!!!! As of right now I have an appointment for Wed night/ Thur morning at midnight. She is guaranteeing me one Galaxy Nexus and one spare battery with charger kit!!!!!!!

Hopefully you dont get a call saying "My bad" and you are rescheduled for the 15th...
 
I know you can never trust what reps say but I called the local store around me and they said they were hearing the 8th and that is when they are expecting to get stock in. Now if that is the case or not who knows but this particular store usually is the first to say we have no info if they really do know nothing so for them to say this seems like hopefully that is the case.

Oh yeah, and then there was the guy on AC that we were told is 'very reliable' when he said the stores have them in stock now (or thousands were being shipped...forgot which) and will be releasing them late this week. Uh huh.

I'm starting to wonder if VZW themselves aren't the source of all these leaked "release dates". Perhaps they're doing it to keep everyone on their toes. Or to try to root out a mole. Who knows, but I feel like the brunt of a bad joke/troll right now.

Is this what us cowboys call a "soft release"? Any precedents for this? What does this mean for us sad folk that have to order online (biz/govt account)?
 
Maybe Verizon stopped sending emails because they always get leaked, so they are only passing it along by word of mouth. It's just one big game of telephone. Unfortunately we're at the end.

Now this brings up one of my only concerns about this device and those on-screen buttons (and my anticipation of being able to hide them entirely and bring up with a swipe from the bezel. come on mods!). Notice how close you can come at times with your right thumb to accidentally hitting the back button or home button while gaming? Not a huge concern, as I don't game much on my phone. I know this happened more than once though while I was ferociously slaying in Gun Bros on my OG Droid.
 
Lets flip the page for a bit here, I'm getting sick of the same posts being recycled over and over again...I ask your opinion on a previous post which I got no response to:

Anyone know of any good chill music? I'm not really into the popular scene- I listen to a lot of Hawaiian themed Reggae, Jack Johnson, a little dub/dance..Would love to check out some new stuff!

Let me preface my following comment by saying that what happens with one company doesnt necessarily mean it will happen in yours. ;)

When my FORMER company started taking control of THEIR numbers that THEIR customers were used to calling, it was to help eliminate expense reports. After they eliminated customer lunches, put us on gas cards and took control of the cell phone bills, no need for those pesky expense reports, right?

In the bitter end, it paved the way for cookie cutter positions. When us experienced (old, opinionated, used to actually making a living, etc.) finally took the severance, they just handed all our stuff to the new, younger, and cheaper guys and girls and THEIR customers would call the same old number and get someone they didnt know.

That didnt keep OUR customers from finding our new numbers, calling and complaining about the "new company direction" and asking where we were so they could move their business. But the former company certainly controlled THEIR numbers and bills. Just not their/OUR customers.

It never ceases to amaze me that big corporations that are run by "Ha'vd MBA's" think they can treat employees and customers any way they want, and then act surprised when those same employees and customers change their behavior in response.

I am no "labor" fan, but these corporations are out of control and will eventually get what they deserve. All in the name of next quarters numbers.

Anyway, that's what happened when one fortune 500 company decided to take control of employee phone numbers. And the company is still in the crapper.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I would think it would be hard to set up a midnight appt, and not know for sure it was coming out then. It's one thing to do an appt for when the store opens, then say, sorry, but midnight????

I take this as confirmation...I don't see how it isn't!! but only time will tell, ohh, and BTW, this is the same rep that has given me the standard, "coming out later this year for two weeks now, including just yesterday. She herself called everything speculation yesterday when I talked to her on the phone.

My VZW rep called me today at 4:30 pm She wanted to bring me up to date.Her news was as follows: VZW has a web site that I can sign up to for further information.I sighed and thanked her for her help and said that I did do that.She said she will contact me if anything changes.I thanked her again and wished her a happy holiday. THEY KNOW NOTHING AND THEY DONT EVEN KNOW IT!
