Just tell them it's a gift and you can not activate it now. Simple. I personally don't care if they activate mine, nor if they touch it first. Don't bash me too hard guys. I just want my phone (and working) as fast as possible! :D
 
I live in Boston, here's some info for the area.

So I called the VZW corporate store in Downtown Crossing late this morning and they told me "uh huh, the website is different, so you should check there." Thanks. This evening on my way home from work I stopped at the VZW corporate store near Copley station, and I was told "we don't know anything." When I asked about stock, "nope, we didn't get anything today, no idea." Though, they did afterwards mention that they "should have plenty" whenever it comes out.

My current plan is to go to the Downtown Crossing store at 8am (opening) on Friday and see if they've got anything, if that fails try to go to the one at Copley at 9am (opening), and if that fails just go to work and forget trying to get a Galaxy Nexus anytime soon.

Anyone else have any hits near Boston?

The answer is YES. Simply tell the salesman you want to be the one who opens it, and he'll bring out the box and you can have perform the honors. He'll then do all the activation stuff after.
 
I also have been lurking reading this forum,I cannot wait to get my hands on my new nexus,Anyone know about any stores in gainesville,fl on when they are releasing

I live in Boston as well, I've called the Downtown Crossing store a couple times over the last few days, including today around 4 PM, and every time they've said they don't have any information on a release date, and are unable to disclose if they have any stock of the phone.

My plan is also to go there at 8am on Friday. :) See you there, perhaps.

I just realized I fell from the person with the 12th most posts to 17th... I need to step it up!

I tried calling my Verizon store which supposedly closes at 9pm, but it said they were closed and it was only 8.
Online CSRs aren't peeping either. Hoping I can get my hands on one early like they did with the Rezound.

If it's a gift I don't think they would let you walk away without it at least being bought under a plan, because otherwise it's not technically on a new contract which means subsidized pricing.
 
I feel like some of you, I want to touch MY phone FIRST! I'll dang near rip it out of a salesman's hand if he tries to touch it before me! Oh, and if he comes out of the back with the box already open and the phone in his hand....heaven help him.... I'll go Ndamukong Suh on him!

Millbury store in black stone valley confirmed Friday for me. Currently no stock but said they will have it.

Not exactly "close" to Boston, but better than nothing.
