***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Maybe I'm just typing to hear my self...talk??? ANYWAYS... So here's what I'm thinking... I'm upgrading and can get accessories at a discount when I do so... as tempting as it is to use the discount on accessories, I think I'm really only going to get a landscape dock. I figure I can get a case and screen protector online cheaper. (Steinheil Crystal? & Qubits Gel Skin TPU or Diztronic Matte TPU?) What does TPU mean anyways? I don't think I'm interested in the extended battery. It's only 250mah increase, not worth $50 to me... I figure resting my phone in the dock will help that. Side question: Does anyone think this will be released on Amazon 12/9 at $229? (upgrade secondary family plan line) Like I said.. just thinking out loud... Any comments / insight would be much appreciated.

I know, he also acted a little strange and then had to put me on "to find out" I gave him my number to call when he had info but I don't expect I will hear back :(

Eh. It's possible. Wouldn't surprise me either way if it comes out Friday or not. I'm done being knocked around by Verizon. If they want to release this week, great. If not, great; I'll just go with the TP and sustain the beating by my sister's husband. Not the first time I've gotten beat up. Probably won't be the last, either.

If they accept pre-orders TODAY and start shipping TODAY (highly doubtful), then you'd probably get it at about the same time as if you'd gone into the store. They don't do overnight shipping anymore, I don't think.

At this point, I don't think there will be a pre-order.

Unless it gets delayed again.

So the title says official announcement but it seems like everyone is still just repetitive speculation from their local stores?? I'm confused...

From West TN, good morning and enjoy it. It's been pretty this AM, but it's not sticking to the roads. Just made all the trees look beautiful. Oh, and some of the schools got out, but IMO, it was unwarranted.

I would just go up to customer service and say that you were thinking about becoming a member and you wanted to try it out. Say you've heard they do something like a trial/visitor pass type thing. I'm not sure if you can just get that pass yourself or if you need to go in with a friend who is already a member and have them "refer" you to costco and then maybe you can get that pass. I would call up a costco and ask about it.

For me, I am not a VZW customer currently, so, I don't have an account. I can set up the service discount later, but, my company discount also gets me a discount on the price of the phone online (RAZR and Rezound show up as $249 through the link I have). So, it would be nice to save $50 on the phone + my 18% without having to apply it later and pay full price for some pro-rated amount of the service. Discount is only on voice plan though, so, it's not that much. The $50 up front is what I would like to save since in a week Amazon will have it for cheap I'd imagine.

I thought people are calling the "December 9th" date on Verizon's equipment guide to be as "official". I'm personally still waiting on a little ole PR from Verizon but I'm hopeful with a lot of reports of stores getting their stock of Nexi.
 
Judging by what a Sales Rep told me yesterday I'm not expecting a PR from Verizon until tomorrow.... today will be another day with "leaks" but nothing official IMHO.... hopefully Verizon will prove me wrong though.
 
Been lurking round here since it looked like the SII was coming to Verizon. Coming out now! Was supposed to get that phone for my B-day in early Sept. We all know how that turned out. I kept up with (read) every post in this thread up to about 41K. At some point thereabouts the steep uphills and downhills here got a little taxing and my fiancee got super tired of my forum addiction :eek:
At any rate I'm on a 5 day vacation starting today. I called yesterday & was prompted to set up an in store appt. on Fri morning at a Verizon corporate store in central PA. I was "told" they could not confirm that the phone would be available and that I could cancel the appt. if something lead me to believe the phone wouldn't be released. Nevertheless, I could almost hear the wink wink over the phone. She did say she was looking forward to our meeting on Friday. . .

Keep in mind the dock may not be there on release day.

I don't think today's 10 cent deals have gone live yet. It's listed in the phandroid article as one of the ones that will go live today. Should hopefully go live soon.
 
Hoping my local RadioShack opens at 10am, so I can find out if they're going to have a SGN on Friday. Otherwise I'll have to try my luck on Saturday afternoon.

I have my doubts because I'm in a town of about 3000 people. Keeping fingers crossed.

Clifton Park peeps, I have a friend that lives there. :) You guys do get awesome concerts, for some reason bands that don't go anywhere else in the area will go there. Heck, sick Puppies went there e3 times in one year long tour, and didn't even come anywhere in Boston. :(

There had *better* be a dock on release day. :( I use my phone as an alarm clock next to my bed, I love my dock, I'll be so sad if I don't have one. and I don't want the portrait one, either. Also I'll probably wait on the extended battery to see if I need it, and see if the price drop.

Also- any other MA people on here? Boston area? Am I all alone? :(

I have the same discount online.. But it doesn't show one for the iPhone - which I believe will be the same for the GNex. Just speculating at this point though.

If you click on the links on Phandroid, it'll take you directly to the web version of google market where you can buy for 10 cents.

I haven't found a store here that opens at 9 but I guess some in other places in the country do. There are also reports of stores opening earlier than their usual times so you might to need to make some phone calls to know for sure.
