So is it safe to assume with no pre order (yet), that buying in store Friday morning is now the best option for earliest in hand availability? I've never purchased online and don't know the normal shipping time. It would seem obvious to me in store is the best "soonest" option now. Am I wrong?

Just got off the phone with my local store, the one who was so confident of a 9th release date. I did NOT get good news:(:(:(:( He told me that it has been "pushed back and we don't know when we will be getting it" No Verizon, Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Apparently Verizon didn't read the comments below the Phandroid article.

I talked to another guy at the Verizon Wireless Zone Authorized Retailer this morning and he said they don't know how many they'll be receiving and can't reserve them however he took down my name and number and said he'd call when they receive them.

There's no way all of these stores are getting or expecting shipments tomorrow and then today it gets pushed back, I'm not buying it, the phone will be out Friday! BELIEVE!!!!

I thought that too, but when I opened it still shows $0.99 for Flick Golf and $2.89 for Beautiful Widgets. :(

Edit: Forget I said anything. I was using Market on my phone, not Android Market. All is well. :)

Argh! I can't buy any of the $0.10 apps because I don't have an android phone to associate with my google account yet. The Nexus is to be my first. I am going to miss out on a bunch of great app deals while we wait for the phone to go live.:o

They have an amusement park there now? Tells you how long it's been since I paid any attention. When I was there the dinosaurs were roaming around.

Lol. No. I went north to Lake George where the amusement park is. Clifton Park was where the concert was.

To those saying they can't purchase in the store because of a corp discount why is that? I just spoke to the local store and they told me that the current discount on my account will just roll over to the new contract.. Is this not the case??

Except for one of the Harry Potter books and the final Star Wars movie, I have never been at a store/movie theater before a major release. That new Samsung Galaxy S II commercial shows all of those people lined up for the iPhone, but do we really expect anything similar to that? After waiting so long for this phone, I don't think I'll be self conscious about waiting for a store to open, but what if there are only three other people in line? ::awkward penguin::

My wife just had to have an iPad 2 when they came out. So I went to the Apple store at like 4:30am and already found a line of 10 people. This wasn't release day; it was like a week after it had come out. That first day they only had 6 so I didn't get one. I went back a few days later, parked in front (this was in a suburb) and saw that no one was there (it was about 5am). So I stayed in my car to keep warm. All of a sudden three people run up and set up camp. As I struggle to get out of the car, another 2 show up. I ended up being number 6 out of like 70 people. Thankfully they had 22 in stock that day.

I would be beyond SHOCKED if this happens with the Nexus.

Here we go again!

Well hopefully it will be $0.10 apps for 10 days so after you get your Nexus this Friday you can get busy shopping!

Do any of your friends have an old android you can put on the account?

I called three stores. The one closest to me (niag. falls blvd.) was rude and just said they had no info.

Im in Buffalo too. I was going to call around the area to see if I could info but I had a hunch that I would get nothing ... looks like I was right. There have been a couple times that I have received crappy service at that store from two different blonde hair women.

Some corporate and government discounts only apply to online purchases.

CSRs are getting annoyed.

I just did an online chat... Basically said 'I am getting the gnex when released (tomorrow?), and have an employee discount that I would like to set up when I create my account, can I do that in a store.

I got back "that phone is not being released tomorrow" (which wasn't really my question, just threw it in there, hoping for a 'correction'- "it's being released on Friday".

Anyway, I then asked, will there be a pre-order so that I can set up my account with discount online and receive my phone when released.

"no"

I asked which question that was a response for...

"both, no discount on the price of this phone (again, not my question, employee discount would be for service), and no pre-order"

At that point, I said, 'well, you have been most unhelpful, I am clearly bothering you, so, have a good one'

In his defense, I am sure that they are getting sick of hearing about this phone, but, it seems like they could still be helpful with legitimate questions. I'll call my local store and see if they can do the discount there...
