Let me put it this way, you go to see a magician, he stands up in front of you and SWEARS the floating girl is not a trick not a illusion. You look behind the curtain and see the wires. Now just because you looked and have proof that he lied. Does the fact that you looked negate the fact that he lied?

Just because we weren't "supposed" to know does not change the fact that VZW had a date and pushed it. Sorry.

But Verizon said nothing more than it will be release this year, without the leaks no one would be upset until the end of the year if it didn't come out.

I agree. I'm not nearly as pissed as I would have been last week or the week before.

Also, I had a chance to finally look at it last night at a corporate store. Is it beautiful? Yes.

But I was struck by the sudden realization that this is just a phone.

I didn't get a nerdgasm like I thought I would. It was nice. But it's a phone.

It'll come when it comes. But I really am wondering if I should wait and see what the Transformer Prime is all about. . .I'm not sure.

If you watch the latest Vergecast, they talk a lot about the Prime, basically saying that the hardware including the keyboard doc is wonderful, but Honeycomb as it is now is a let down with considerable lag.

Right, but my question is why even have troll "leaks." Why don't these big companies just leak it themselves, even if it is a date later than expected for added protection- what could be the reason that release dates are kept so top secret? Thats my only question.

I strongly suspect that Google and Verizon are directly responsible for some leaks, in order to drum up free publicity. I mean, look at the rabid demand for this phone already. There's no doubt in their minds that they won't be making a ton of money from this without ever even launching a single commercial.

Thats the thing though, these "top secret" release dates are not just with Verizon, it goes for mostly ever tech company (including Apple to some degree). You KNOW people want to know dates, why not tell them? Even if it is later than expected- at least your loyal customers KNOW not to go somewhere else. Am I making sense or do I sound like a crackhead? lol

There are lots of reason why release dates are protected, but in this case the most important is to try to avoid 'freezing the market' for their current product line. So long as the GNex is not released, their channels will continue to sell the current product line [ie Razr etc] without hesitation. Announce the GNex release date and a chunk of those sales will not happen because people will be waiting for the GNex to become available, just like we are.

I could have sworn today's meeting was at 11 EST. This would make the most sense.

If the meeting takes place at 11, that'd be 8 out west. So you'd have your people come into work a little early (stores seem to open at 9) for the meeting.

In order for the meeting to be done by now (9:40 EST), they'd have to have had people in by 6 out west. Would you really have them do that, when they don't need to open the stores for another 3 hours? Doesn't make sense to me.

The company I work for has locations on east and west coasts, and we NEVER schedule anything early enough to force west coast to come in before their normal schedule.

Okay I have a question, last night someone mentioned this may be I think they said icon phone but I can't remember (and search isn't being my friend this morning.)

Anyway it was mentioned you had to be eligible for upgrade to get it. Well I got my Droid X when they first came out but my upgrade date says 3/22 on the Verizon website but it also says I am eligible for discounted phones. I think our upgrade date was screwed up when we changed the primary on our account from me to my husband.

Finally my question, is this 3/22 date going to prevent me from getting my nexus? Do I need to call Verizon and plead with them to move the date up?

I had this same issue since I also bought the DX at its release. I went into the store last night and asked about it. It means that all you have to do is pay a $20 early upgrade fee and you can upgrade to the Nexus (or whatever you want) at the full discounted price.

Okay, thanks! I don't want to be denied my Nexus whenever it finally arrives!

LG?

I know!! He said he's going to keep his D3 and give the LG Vortex, I think, to his daughter.. I just shook my head...

That is one of my biggest peeves, when someone knows you know more than them about electronics and they take your advice and flush it!!
