Good Morning Gnexers!

(I think)...

Well, my epic A.M. appointment has been cancelled, leaving me all day to NOT play with my new Nexus!

You know why I can't play with my new Nexus? Because Verizon refuses to sell it to me! GRRRR

Come on Verizon, you get my money early every month. 4G is up. It's Friday... and holiday season. And I've been good this year!

Well, mostly good

So GIVE ME MY NEXUS!

True, at&t is behind vz. Still, at&t HSPA+ and lte is available in enough larger cities that they are a threat to vz's biz. This was one of the reason's behind the double date promo.

No doubt. AT&T gets the larger markets taken care of. The only reason I haven't jumped back to AT&T is because Verizon has shown they care for those of us who live in rural areas and have done a great job at getting it all upgraded. When they get the larger cities covered, they immediately start expanding outward from that city. Eventually the coverages merge. AT&T goes from one large city to the next and then when they get them done they start their marketing blitz saying they cover 90% of the population or whatever number they want to throw out there. What they forget is that smaller percentage that lives in rural areas and the fact that those who live in larger areas still eventually have to travel to or through rural areas and then those people are like WTF??? Where's my 4g???!!!

Someone suggested the effect may be because of image stabilization (not its absence), but I don't know enough to have an opinion.

Consider the video below. All of these "wave" issues are related to the way the sensor captures light I believe...

Stabilization is an unrelated issue.

I don't think Google has it in them and I believe Google fears Verizon saying, "Fine, keep your Android phones to yourself. Have fun with AT&T's lousy network!"

Verizon doesn't have it in them to do that should Google push that line, especially given the fact that Android is the market leader. They benefit from each other and Verizon definitely needs to keep the popular device on their network. Apple went to Verizon. I definitely don't think it was the other way around. PR may show otherwise, but they had no reason other than to appease a few of the Apple fans.

I just need this to end already.

For the sake of my wife
my daughter
my students
and my own personal sanity - I just need this to end.

I'm not saying I'm not taking care of my obligations, I'm just doing it through Nexus Colored Glasses and the things listed above deserve my 150% attention and effort.

Please Verizon, little help.

Rant over. Thanks.

The only two times Verizon has chimed in about anything for this phone were after social backlash. People didn't hear the phone was coming from Verizon originally officially, started social network chatter then we got the infamous "out this year" PR. After the Google Wallet fiasco got huge, they issued a statement about that. We all need to get #VZWNEXUSFAIL to trend on both Google+ and Twitter. Once its high up there, and everyone can see it, they will feel compelled to respond. Please help me in getting this started! Copy and paste this wherever you have to.

OT:

While in the process of getting denied my Nexus this morning in Boston, I did a (very) rudimentary test on a Rezound by having my DINC and the Rezound load the desktop ESPN page at the same time. The Rezound claimed to have good 4G coverage, but the pages loaded at just about the same time (Rezound with plug-ins turned on, mine with plug-ins turned to on-demand).

Was this an aberration? Never played with 4G before (waited for a phone to be worth my time), but something must have been funky here, right? I was expecting to be blown away.

Anybody else wake up this morning and get really mad when they checked their e-mail and saw this e-mail from Samsung and they were advertising their crappy Windows phones and other junk and no Nexus? Like they are taunting me.. I signed up for Nexus updates not to be spammed about the Focus Flash
I don't get any spam and signed up for both Samsung and Verizons Galaxy Nexus news... I think I received one email about the Razr but that's it, weird...

I do have one request. If anyone gets a Nexus today, besides giving us the full rundown, please tweet, post on facebook, do everything you can to let the world know you got one. It will ignite a firestorm of pressure on Verizon to release it to the rest of us.

I'm feeling the call of the Rezound again. You know, the whole "A bird in the hand.." thing. If it weren't for the locked boot loader, I think I would jump without hesitation. The pros seem like true pros and the cons are becoming murky. Can someone remind me again why the Rezound doesn't hold a candle to the Nexus?

Awesome! Only if I was so lucky... I spend a lot of the "awake" part of my day at work where I can't use WiFi, so I'm really looking forward to having 4G. And my OG Droid occasionally has problems keeping a wifi connection at my apartment so it'll be nice not having to worry about that anymore. Plus I've played around with my girlfriends iPhone 4 a couple times and don't like the interface and how there is ZERO customization allowed, so it's Android or bust for me for the time being. :)

I won't lie though, 4G was freaky fast, especially very early in the morning when nobody else was on. It was nice having NFL Mobile too and watching games while riding in a car. But it sucked having an unstable phone that would restart on me during calls. Plus the Android "lag" even though the Bionic is dual-core with 1GB of RAM! I have had ZERO issues with the Iphone so far. It's definitely a trade-off though... stability for no customization.

I'm sure the Nexus won't be as buggy as the Bionic is but I was getting pretty impatient.

I was actually thinking of something similar. For example, at a set time, we all tweet "galaxy nexus?" Or something similar to all vzw accounts simultaneously.

I just remembered a question, probably OT.

What is with 777? I've seen pictures of phones displaying 777 on this thread. What is the significance of that number?

You in the market for a smartphone or a camcorder?

That's a pretty snarky reply. Would you rather have a smartphone with a decent video camera or a crappy one?

Yes these are phones, but as I'm sure you know they do much more than send and receive phone calls. I think the OP's disappointment over the less than stellar video quality is valid. In fact, I'm disappointed too.

I have a VERY nice camcorder, but the last yime I checked it doesn't have an LTE radio in it. I mentioned before my employer would like to see video content loaded to our YouTube channel/Facebook/Twitter feed from the field (during events). I was hoping GNex would be a solution.

Just because you don't find it important doesn't mean others should be happy with the disappointing video quality.

Who here is using the oldest phone. In order to prove it and not just find a pic online and post it they wanted you to put 777 on the screen.

Haha, and no offense to BB, but your avatar may be better. Bravo sir. (I love uno by the way.

I take no offense. I love his avatar!

Same here. Wast of a day for me. Oh well, I have to get the oil changed in the car anyway.

Can you please come bring mine too. It's a bit overdue. :D
I'm terrible at car maintenance

It was proof of Nexicanism

In the alternate dimension where the Galaxy Nexus was released today, I would be getting out of bed right now (instead of having already been at work for an hour), checking the weather on my Eris one last time, and enjoying a nice breakfast of bacon, eggs, and biscuits (instead of the microwaved sausage biscuits I had).

Well, it looks like at least another weekend of not having NFL Mobile also. I deleted it once they started charging for it on 3G devices since the Eris has so little internal memory.

trending topics get picked up by all users, they click it to see whats up and even post on it as well. seems like the best way. everyone fire up twitter and google+! if you dont have it, sign up for it. they've responded to social backlash twice already! #VZWNEXUSFAIL

so both the VZW.com/galaxynexus and the preorder.verizonwireless.com/galaxynexus were updated at 12:55 last night

VZW.com/galaxynexus redirects to http://shop.verizonwireless.com/?id=Samsung%20Nexus now. It used to redirect to http://smartphones.verizonwireless.com/nexus/.

Don't get your hopes up though, this most likely just means they're getting ready for launch sometime in the next week or 2. It doesn't mean it's launching today. Because it was supposed to launch today, we're probably going to see a lot of strange things happen on the website.
