I just remembered a question, probably OT.

What is with 777? I've seen pictures of phones displaying 777 on this thread. What is the significance of that number?

We were having a crappy phone contest. The 777 was to validate that it was in fact in your posession.

Consider the video below. All of these "wave" issues are related to the way the sensor captures light I believe...

Stabilization is an unrelated issue.

Crazy propeller on 150! - YouTube

Yes and no.

You're 100% correct, the droopy prop is an artifact of the same way a CMOS sensor captures the image -- one scan line at a time. It's the reason the other videos "wave" when the camera is panned.

But stabilization DOES have an effect, because it smooths the movement of the camera, and filters out unintended movement. If the camera is moving less, or moving more smoothly, the rolling shutter effect is greatly minimized.

There are also software methods that take into consideration the read rate of the CMOS sensor, and can attempt to correct this effect, although it, too, has practical limits and increases the workload on the processor.

Good morning everyone.

12/09 - The day of cookies, and soul crushing disappointment.

But still, cookies are good.

I'm just going to eat a 12-pack of Costco chocolate chip muffins instead. It'll probably put me in a coma, but at least the Nexus will be out then. At least I hope so.

Good Morning Gnexers!

(I think)...

Well, my epic A.M. appointment has been cancelled, leaving me all day to NOT play with my new Nexus!

You know why I can't play with my new Nexus? Because Verizon refuses to sell it to me! GRRRR

Come on Verizon, you get my money early every month. 4G is up. It's Friday... and holiday season. And I've been good this year!

Well, mostly good

So GIVE ME MY NEXUS!

We will make sure the doctors know to try to wake you on launch day.

Struck out at the Mongomeryville VZ corporate store. CSR said delayed launch (was first yesterday and then today) with no information on launch. Claimed not to have any demos but not sure I buy it.

Ditto for Radio Shack. He admitted to having the phones in the back and sadly said he couldn't sell any.

I was told last night by a Verizon Store manager that they are under strict orders to not show any demo units. He even told me they had 1 in the back, and that something regarding a demo unit being shown off was reason for the delay.....he was telling me everything straight up, so not sure what reason he'd have to lie.

The more sample videos I watch, the more the camera seriously disappoints me.

When he moves the camera in this video, there is a wave effect that awful. Someone commented a few pages back, and I believe this is referred to rolling shutter?

I would rather have 360p video without the wave effect than 1080p video with the wave effect.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus 1080p Video Test - YouTube

Played full screen on my 23" computer monitor, I'd disagree, I'm pretty impressed with the clarity, detail and colors of that video. In fact I'd say it's among the best I've seen from a camera phone. Keep in mind that the effect you're seeing (often referred to as the 'jello effect') is also sometimes evident, although to a lesser degree, in pricey dedicated HD camcorders.

So I'm pretty happy with it. Of course I guess I'd need the phone to shoot some video and at this point, that's pretty questionable.

I think he was talking about the fact that the button says "BUY NOW" yet still takes you to the email signup page...

Yeah, it would be nice if Google did this on purpose, but it really doesn't mean anything because it seems there's one big red lump of crap that's holding this launch back.

I don't get any spam and signed up for both Samsung and Verizons Galaxy Nexus news... I think I received one email about the Razr but that's it, weird...

That is kind of weird. Well you really aren't missing much..
"Your Samsung Moments of Wonder Holiday edition" Samsung Electronics America from MySamsung@email.samsungusa.com

I've never bought any other Samsung product before so I'm pretty confident that I got it because of signing up for Nexus updates from them.

So you're saying it's Han's fault? And he's the reason we don't have one today and why his rep got fired? I don't believe one person showing a demo unit would postpone an entire country release indefinitely, not buying it.
