***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Yea I've said that for years.... People complain about how high a gallon on gas is but it gets drilled, removed from the ground, shipped half way around the planet, refined then shipped to terminals then trucked to your local gas station. When you think of it that way, gas is cheap and milk and ink don't make any damn sense

Milk, ink, and bottled water. :D

still OT:

quoted for truth. a customer's attitude is largely the determining factor in how far out of my way i am willing to go for them. we have made more than our share of "complicated" items that are a far cry from anything on our menu. show a little respect, realize that you are asking a favor, and you will get exactly what you want.

i feel like i do have to say though, no matter how terrible their attitude is, there will be no shenanigans with their food. this behavior is unacceptable and even joking about it will not be tolerated under my watch. i have been furious with customers before, and while i will give them the bare minimum in service, i promise you that their meal was fine.

Well that's good to know!!
I am far removed from the culinary/food service industry and only go by stereotypes you see/hear in movies and whatnot.
Sad to say, I assumed the nasty customers got the chicken that looked a lil funny, and "slipped off the counter once or twice", heh heh. :p
Not entirely sure why I would assume someone wouldn't take pride in their work even if it was going to a P.O.S customer.

So I drop by this small RadioShack and ask if they had the Galaxy Nexus, both sale guys immediately said "yes we do" so I ask if I could take one and they said yes right away. One goes to the back and comes back with the phone in hand and tells me "I've been waiting to activate one of this phones. Then we go trough the process online at the RadioShack/Verizon web portal, he double check that I can get a discount (check), goes to replace the phone (check, no problem), then he get's my credit card/drivers license and is about to charge when the other sales person (a girl this time) was on the phone with some one from Verizon helping her with an iPhone and she ask the guy helping me if he had a question to the Verizon person and passes the phone to him.... so he proceed to the tell the Verizon person that his about to sell a Galaxy Nexus and if he has to do anything else besides the system and charge for the phone when the person at the end of the line tells him (and I heard what he said pretty loud)... YOU GUYS CAN'T SELL ANY NEXUS UNTIL WE GIVE YOU THE GO AHEAD... the RadioShack guy pull his head down like a little kid and listed to the Verizon rep, hangs up and tells me "sorry men, can't sell you the phone... we don't have a release date but if you want I can take your phone number and let you know when you can come by to pick it up".... (*&^% YOU VERIZON!!!! REALLY!!!!

Really? You are mad that you didn't get away with something that dozens of others have already said didn't work for then? Quit trying to get people fired and just wait like the rest of us.

The only time I think the consumer gets way overcharged is with printer ink cartridges. I spend like $50 every time I run out of ink :(

The Nexus is definitely worth the $300 subsidized, if not the $700 retail. Cutting edge tech isn't cheap.

You should always look at cost per page when purchasing a printer. Laser printers are always better, but can vary greatly. Our dell color laser at work cost $600 or so, but prints 9000 black pages per $55 cartridge. The color pages cost more to print, but it's still an order of magnitude better than any inkjet. My thoughts are to buy a laser printer, color or B&W, for home use, and get photos printed at Walmart or your local pharmacy.

the, lets not get started on bottled water haha. its been flowing through underground water tables and springs for hundreds/thouands/millions of years, but they put it in a water bottle and put an expiration date on it like wtf:confused::confused:

OT UFC

Did any of you watch that Frank Mir fight? Wow, what a turnaround. That broken arm was disturbing. After the undercard, I'm pumped for Jon Jones' fight. Jones is so much fun to watch. He makes fighting an art.

Back in August, I was planning to get the Bionic when I came across this thread. At that time I decided that I was going to get what we used to call the Nexus Prime. I'm tired of waiting.

My Dinc is dying.

I don't care why verizon has decided to delay this! I just want my GNex already.

Don't forget the relatively toxic chemicals they add to make it look "clear" as well as the carcinogens that leech into it from the plastic bottles it's kept in....
Aye, lets NOT get started on bottled water... :D

OT:

Does it do 11x17?

On Friday, radio shack told me they couldn't sell the Galaxy Nexus until Sunday. Does anything think I should actually show up tomorrow, or should I just forget about it bc right now, it seems like there's no chance of getting it before the 15th.

Had to go to an engagement party tonight, just got back. Are we still looking at the 15th? My Eris is getting extremely puntable recently.

I only go way off the menu if I'm in a place that I'm a regular at, and I will typically tip well over the standard 20% to show my appreciation. One bartender I know swears the kitchen staff actually enjoys when people ask for something different, because it's a change of pace from making the same things over and over. I don't ask for that kind of stuff in a chain restaurant, because the "cooks" are likely just working a microwave anyway.

That's what I was told too. I'm going to go to Radio Shack tomorrow and try.

I'm interested in knowing how most of you refresh and stay on the thread here. Sometimes I use my laptop but most of the time I use my iPad 2. It's usually in my lap.

I'd like the Nexus on Sunday, but I'm hoping I can convince a Verizon corporate store to give me a hundred bucks off with that mailer posted on Droid-Life, so I'll wait until the 15th. If anyone is from Illinois, you should check to see if you've gotten it in your mail.

If that's what Radioshack told you, then call them out on it. If you don't live far from the Radioshack in question, then by all means give it a try--you never know.

OT:

Unfortunately not. It's a Dell 5100cn, it only goes up to legal size. In the rare occasions I absolutely have to have an 11x17 print, I'll just get online and upload it to Office Depot, and pick up the pages at the store. They charge a reasonable price for the service. I printed some remote start wiring diagrams and it was something like $.40 per double sided 11x17 page.

Well I just blew $400 on snowboard and ski stuff for the wife and me.

Take your time, idiots.

Take your time.

Yup... I just bought a $300 pair of boots - Salomon Malamutes. Gnarly stiff boots.

VZW take your time :eek::D:D:D

My husband bought me a $300 purse today and I still want some new boots. Dh thinks $300 for a phone is a little high (he just doesn't get it, although he did have a smile on his face when he said android phones may get added to his list of approved corporate phones before long), especially since he was with me when I checked out the Rezound and was quoted just under $200 for it. Rather than argue about it or settle for the Rezound, I may wait a few months and see what comes out.
