Good Morning Gnexers!

Well, the Chief was in class all day yesterday UGH and I missed a whole bunch of posts!

SO whats new besides Google Wallet being the delay?

Not that I care about it... there's only a handful of gas stations anywhere around me that use that payment system and I don't use them

TIA

nothing much else is new other than the fact that the 15th appears to be the target date....although that's not really "new" news I agree with you about Google wallet. I would have no use for it.

Some may think they do...but they also kill the performance of you phone

And I don't think you have to be super smart tech type to use this phone, the OG Droid had no skin and it seemed to work okay with non tech people.

I returned the OG Droid after like 2 days. I hated it. But I hated how clunky it was and it didn't work with the bluetooth in my car.

Technical help, please...

First, good morning. :)

Secondly, since we are close to getting out long awaited device, I want to be prepared and I'm willing to lose just about all the data on my phone EXCEPT for everything I've put into my Note Everything App. I've done too much work and have too many important work pieces of information to lose. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to save this so I can transfer it over when we get out Nexus? Sincerely, thanks.

Please feel free to dummy this advice down as much as possible, I'd actually prefer it that way. :)

Edit: if you'd feel more comfortable PMing me, that would be great too. Thanks you!

I actually love tinkering around so it should be fun discovering new things the GNex can do. I use it for testing, taking spontaneous pics, and web browsing.
On learning ICS...Android isn't a hard OS to learn in general, and ICS has streamlined a lot of things. With that said, if you just want a phone to be a phone, then you're probably looking at the wrong device in general. The Android world allows for a lot of customization. If you're willing to explore and poke around in stuff, you will get the full experience of the phone. I tell this to people all the time, if you want to learn more about a device you've gotta poke around and not be afraid you'll break it. Companies don't put things out for the mass public that are going to break at every turn, and chances are you aren't going to break your Nexus just by hitting the wrong button. Learning tech is just trial and error. If you don't want to put the effort into making your device truly yours, then apple has what you are looking for. iOS is extremely easy to use and its pretty much impossible to break for the casual user.

It honestly depends on how much effort you are willing to put into learning your device, and how important the customization is to you. If you're looking for the simplest device to learn, you're probably looking at the wrong phone. If you don't mind spending a day or two messing with your phone to figure it out, then you'll be just fine.

I wonderif they will be online since you don't have to be a member to order it there. My friend who has a Costco membership isn't available the 15th

If your friend can pick you up a $10 Costco gift card before the 15th, you can use that like a "guest pass" if you use it to pay for part of the total at the register.

At least that's how they did it a few months ago, according to a friend. It's worth a shot, probably.

I guess if you had read what I posted an hour after that post, you would know what my friend said.

As for now, he said what everyone else said. The 15th looks like the date now. He also said that the OS doesn't have anything over-layed and it isn't as easy to use. Said that you have to be really commited to learning this devise.

Can anyone shed any light on this statement. I didn't want to keep bugging him so I didnt ask.

I would play with it in the store once it comes out and see what you think.

Prior to ICS that could have been true, as the skins made some things easier to do. But ICS is designed to be a much better standalone product.

That makes me feel better.

I wouldnt take it that far, It will be a learning curve somewhat similar to say going from sense to motoblur. nothing as drastic as iOS to Android though. I would say it would act normally but to get the phone set up to you liking could take a while maybe 2 days or so or longer depending on how much you tinker.

Well if I go with the Rezound, I would be going from motorblur to sense. So are you saying it wouldn't be any more difficult than that?

The real question is do you want a phone to pick up and use or do you like to tinker? Also what would you MAINLY be using this phone for

Tinker? As in root or something? No. I have no reason to do that and I'm not smart enough. I wouldn't know what to do with it even if someone did it for me.

I use it for a little bit of everything. I use it as my only phone, I live on it when I'm not home (browsing the web, facebook, etc.), apps, keep all my passwords and such on it, check the weather, it's my alarm clock, a camera when I don't have one of my good ones with me, listen to music, etc.

I think the basic functions of the device will be as easy. Android allows those who want to control aspects of their device, to control it. If you don't want control, I don't think it will get in your way

:D

I think that if one wants a "pick up and use" phone, grab an iPhone.

Considering I'm on android now, I would think any android phone would be easier for me than an iPhone. Although I would consider picking up the iPhone 5 if it's 4G and has a big screen. I doubt my son would object for too long if I used his upgrade for that and gave him a GN (or Rezound) to replace his DINC.

Ugh, I'm SO FREAKING TIRED of that commercial where they're tailgating and the guy says "Do you guys know how post a photo. . . . on Facebook?" "Do you guys know how to post a photo. . . . on Facebook?

GET THAT OFF THE AIR ALREADY!!

I HATE IT!!!!

The easiest way would be to get a free dropbox account and uplaod it to dropbox. You can then access it from any computer or your phone.

Agreed. Every time that guy smugly says "So 27 seconds ago," I just want to punch him in the face.

It's especially annoying that AT&T is already advertising their LTE network when it's only active in New York (and unofficially in San Francisco)

Yeah, it's an AT&T LTE commercial and it is annoying.

The big question now is, will all you super smart tech types still be around here to help those of us that need it if and when we buy this thing?

I will personally promise to help you as best I can if you need it. Just send me a PM :) I might be to engrossed in my phone to check forums, the PM's go straight to email, which will be on the phone!

This offer applies to anyone, just for the record. I'm more than happy to help anyone struggling with the ins and outs.

I really don't anticipate ICS being hard to use. Yes, there will be a learning curve, but you'll get used to it in a few days. I had a Nexus One and loved it. Had to go to HTC Aria while waiting for this phone because the Nexus broke and I hate the Sense UI. I don't think it's "easier" to use.
