I'm the lucky guy that got a non-corp store to sell him a GNex.

The updates do come from Google, tested by Verizon, and then released. 2 useful carrier apps and a log in don't count as "Bloat" in my book. Again - all comes down to your perspective![]()

Backup Assistant maybe...ICS has all of the data tracking options built into it so don't know if I really need My Verizon
Did you take that screenshot with ICS's built in screenshot-taker?
congrats! And I love your puppies!
But a Nexus device is supposed to contain zero bloat. I'm just making the point that there is no reason that app HAS to come pre-loaded on the phone.
It is much easier for you to goto the market and download the app, if you really want it, than it is for me to root and remove it.
Again, My Verizon Mobile is not needed to make the phone function...it is merely a convenience.
Do we have a single piece of HARD evidence pointing towards a 12/15 release? Unless I see some leaked internal documents, I have no more faith in Verizon.
Puppies? Does that pic link back to my picasa albums?

I agree 100%, I have not seen one person that can signify to me what part of the "Google" experience they aren't receiving
True, the "bloat" I wish I could remove are the Facebook and Twitter app. I don't use Facebook and I have TweetDeck for Twitter. And maybe the YouTube app. You cannot truly remove any of them, just their updates. The updates do come from Google, tested by Verizon, and then released. 2 useful carrier apps and a log in don't count as "Bloat" in my book. Show me where it states that a Nexus device should come with no bloat? Other than dev and fanboy sites proclamation of such.
The bootloader is not encrypted, you can do whatever you want to the phone. That's Nexus enough for me.
Agree 100%
I for one, because of VZW and the way they create an environment that makes their employees blatantly LIE to potential customers about the Nexus status, will NEVER get this or any other phone from VZW.
It will not matter to them at all but will to me! As soon as my contract is up i will pay the price for the equipment i want on the network at that time. NO contracts!
2 year contract buying a phone that is outdated in 4 to six months? And folks.............the Nexus has lost at least 1 to 2 months of that unique time frame. No way will i purchase this "soon to be outdated" phone.
A couple of months from now, ICS will be widely released and in use and the Nexus will be unfortunately an outdated piece of equipment.
Darn it...................I HATE all of this but HATE VZW the most !!
And I quote from Wikipedia Google Nexus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Nexus is a series of Android smartphones produced by Google in co-operation with selected hardware companies. The purpose of the Nexus phones is to offer a "pure Android experience", in which the phones come free of carrier or manufacturer modifications and with an unlockable bootloader [1] to allow for further development and end-user modification."
Thanks,So, since I have a good buddy who is a Manager at my local VZW Corporate store, I stopped by this afternoon and spent twenty minutes playing around with "The God Mighty Nexus" (her term, not mine).
Not saying you did not, I am just reminded of how I first discovered what happened to a few of my pics one day.
I agree with your feelings there...Cons:
Even with 32GB on board, I HATE the lack of an SD card. I wouldn't buy a computer that couldn't accept a bigger hard drive, after all....
Did you stroke ringtones and notice any volume level weaknesses?I am KEEPING my HTC ReZound.
I just think the HTC ReZound is a better phone, or at least a better phone FOR ME.
Don't know if this was already posted or not... but XDA is running an article about how the Nexus that Verizon will be releasing isn't a REAL Nexus.
Interesting read for sure!

Edit: NVM, was already posted
