Morning, ladies and gents! I was out running errands about 30 minutes ago and decided to go into my local Best Buy. I walked in and there was a huge "Nexus" display, but as I got closer realized it was for the S :( I spotted a sales guy and this is how the conversation went. . .

Me: Hi, do you have the Galaxy Nexus?
Guy: Yes, we do, but only the Sprint version!
Me: Oh, you mean you have the Nexus S, but not the Galaxy Nexus?
Guy: Umm, no, sir, as I said, we have the Sprint Galaxy Nexus (looking at me like I was a fool)
Me: Right, anyways, have you heard anything about when you'll have the Verizon version?
Guy: From what I've been told we'll have them on Thursday, but again, we have the Sprint version already

I looked at him the same way he looked at me, like he was a fool, thanked him and walked out.

Just goes to show how incompetent most of these Best Buy sales people really are. Unless, he was so tired of answering questions about it that he completely played dumb. Unlikely, but a possibility, I guess

I pointed it out, it's been there, and vzw.com/galaxynexus and preorder.verizonwireless.com/galaxynexus were both changed 12:55AM Friday night

Must've missed it -- good catch though.

I think its just so funny that it says "The Galaxy Nexus by Samsung is now available at Verizon Wireless." -- uhhh no its not.

You should have gotten the sprint version today ;)

I was running errands over my lunch break and decided to venture into a local VZW corporate store. As soon as I dropped the word Nexus, three employees looked around anxiously. Someone from across the room was called over to "help me with my Nexus questions." He was very friendly and said the 15th is supposed to be the day. I asked how sure he was about that, and he said, "I feel more confident about it than I did the 9th. From what I hear, the issue holding it up has been cleared up." I asked if he had one I could look at, and he went in back and got the dummy unit for me.

Let me just say that my excitement has massively waned from all the delays, but as soon as I held the device, I felt my nerd butterflies reach full tilt. The feel of the phone - the weight, the texture, the size - it is all perfect. I had concerns over the size, but not anymore. It physically is a perfect phone.

I asked if I could reserve one, and he said no. He went back into the back again and came out saying, "We have quite a few of them, but I would probably be here when we open on the 15th to be sure." He took my name and number and said he'd let me know if he heard anything.

I know we're all getting irked at the delays, but today just reaffirmed that I will, within reason, wait as long as I have to for this device. It looks and feels a cut above all the other options, and that's not even taking into account the fact that it will be packing vanilla ICS.

Soon, my friends. Soon.

I like this guy!

Announced at CES in January 2011.

Rolled out in when, October?

Granted, that's enough time to make a Bionic III, but I don't plan on waiting for more vaporware.

The Bionic situation was rather unique. The Bionic which eventually got released was actually intended to be the Bionic II. the original Bionic (Etna) was supposed to be out in Q1/Q2, and the Targa was in development already, and slated for a Q3 release. but, the Etna ended up being scrapped altogether because of problems. and, the phone which was supposed to be the "follow up" (i.e., Targa) ended up just being branded as the Bionic, and was released when the Targa was originally scheduled to be released.

sorry if this is old news but i just went to verizonwireless.com/galaxynexus and for a breif second it went to shop smartphones page like i was going to be able to purchase then redirected to usual sign up page. mean anythng? before today it would always go directly to sign up page. anyone else notice this?

It seems new to me, unless I haven't been paying attention.

I have to say I think the best way to know if the release is imminent sans press release or anything concrete is when the GN's that are in the wild now has OTA's pushed to them. Agreed?

Word on the InterWebs is that the OTA will not be pushed until the Official launch. So the lucky people that got them last week will have to wait it out on the 4.0.1 until actual launch date.

Actually after hearing about build quality and reception, I decided to jump ship. Moto is king of radios that is for sure.

/part of the reason I got the Razr.

Truth be told, its an awesome device.

I didnt see the king of radios...i rented a razr and kept losing data 2-3 times per day for up to 15 minutes...no reason just lost data connection. same thing when i had the bionic....major flaw and i could not wait to return it and bought an X of craigslist for 100 to use as a temp. liked the look of the razr but that was it

Yeah, I noticed that last week.

To those wondering about sources of what I posted, there is nothing online that I can point you to, sorry. My sources I am unable to divulge to you guys sorry.

Im not saying that the GN will be terrible. I mean Samsung makes millions of phones and there are a lot of happy people out there using them. But for me, call quality and reception is huge, so I wanted the best I could get and for that a few folks gave me the heads up to not overlook the Razr. I reviewed, checked it out, and purchased yesterday.

Not meaning to ruffle feathers or stirring anything up, just posting what I did for me personally.

Any questions, shoot me a pm.

Cheers.

i understand not being able to divulge sources. and, i didn't think you were trying to stir anything up. like i said, call quality is a big issue for me, and that's why i've been saying that i will wait to test one out, along with a RAZR, before making my decision. i just thought that maybe you had found something on the interwebz that i missed.

Thanks for the input!

All that means is that they're keeping track of how many ppl they're truly pissing off

Seriously... I signed up on that page about 2 months ago and haven't received a single email about the GNex

Oh, BB employees. So silly ;)

This is exactly what I was thinking when everyone was asking about the OTA being pushed to the "chosen ones".

true 1080p is typically 4 to 6 mb/s (though it can go as high as blu-ray which is approx 25mb/s). Cavet, the resolution has little to do with quality so you can have 1080p @ 200kb/s (though it won't look very good) and > 50mb/s (though taht would be over kill).

blu ray = 54 mbps vid + audio stream

Deadwalking OT:
I knew she was in there too.. thats why he wouldn't let them go in or kill them. I'm glad they finally got past all that. It was a great first half but a little slow. I hope they get kicked off the farm, the Asian kid takes that hot farm girl with them and the show gets all gore again :-)
I love me some zombie smashing.
On another note I found something else to help Me through the tough time of loss were all in. (Not getting nexi last week) I bought 007 Golden eye Reloaded and I couldn't be happier. What a fantastic game, and the bond song at the end of the first level and the fact that its really Daniel Craig and the real M makes it all that much bettet

That is my point though it is one leak that we can be a sure sign if we hear nothing else the release is imminent. Someone has to flip that switch to have OTA's pushed just before the first one is sold on the East Coast. So, if truly no press release comes before they launch but someone w/ the phone already says 'hey I just got an update' I would think that would be the best sign we have ever gotten to date.
