high end for VM=mid level for Sprint, Verizon, etc.
No, VM will not see a Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy SII. Triumph was high end for VM when it came out, but middle of the road for contract carriers.

I've got the LGOV and it's a great phone. With Jerry's and other ROMs available, I feel like it's giving me 200%...but
I really dislike the small screen I've gone from a Droid Eris, to a Motorola DX to the LGOV. The DX was a bit too bulky, so I thought the Triumph ( with update ROM of course ) might be a good fit.But, if some new phones are going to drop the next month or two, I guess I'll wait.

I quess that virgin mobile need to get with program. you have straight talk 45 dollars unlimited everything plan plus new phone like optimus 2x 4g and optimus black coming soon.now I think virgin mobile screwed up by raising their prices from 25 to 35 /from 40 to 45/and from 60/55.what's keeping people from upping to another carrier like simple mobile offering $40 unlimited everything. like I said get with the program virgin

I could not agree more... I am even willing to jump in the 2 year ship with T-mobile, they are having pretty good offers along with nice phones ("high end" like yall call them?

I could not agree more! If you shop on the bestbuy mobile site they have some excellent deals.
T-mobile is actually offering some incredible plans. They seem to be positioning themselves very aggressively now. Also if you go into the store, you can finance the phone seperate from the service. I prefer the idea of un-bundling the phone purchase from the service as well. I said before that most carriers are making a KILLING on these plans because they are overcharging us for phones and just rolling that cost into the monthly plan. Price the phones in competitive manner and provide service at a reasonable cost.

I agree, Virgin really has to pick up their game. They took the prepaid world by storm when they first came out with android. However, since then they have really let a lot of the others surpass them. It seems every other prepaid has gotten cheaper and many are coming out with better phones.
I'm guessing the LG 2X is going to be leaps and bounds better than the triumph.
For those of you who haven't heard of Republic Wireless, keep an eye on them. They are in Beta now with a completely game changing network that comes in at $19/mo for UNLIMITED EVERYTHING!

I read a review on republic wireless not long ago (forgot where) and if I remember correctly the reviewer claimed it was a bit buggy on transferring from wi-fi to cell. But other than that it was mostly good. This could be a great technology, I am next to wi-fi about 99% of the time, so it makes good sense for some people. If they can get things going I would sign up in a minute. If any of the big players were smart they would drop some development money into this company and try to license it from them later.

Blah, you have to be tethered to a wifi network for a big majority of your calls or they cut you off. No thanks.

the rumored phones coming for virgin mobile next month is the ZTE Venture & ZTE Chaser. Based on the specs of the 2 phones, im not impressed

VM network sucks, it is a budget network and it makes no sense to pair it with any highend phones, MT is good as it gets for a while.
VM can't sell anything nice because the network can't handle the demands of high end users, people that pay $300 and above will not tolerate VM's 3G. When I was shopping for my first smartphone (MT) all I compared was specs, but never thought about 3G and no roaming, now it's clear why VM cost $35/month, outside of wifi, the phone is unusable. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble

Sounds like an interesting concept... Don't you have to be situated at a particular spot or spots that "have" wifi in the air? Or can you basically catch wifi anywhere you go?
As I understand it, any wi-fi that you could normally connect to and use data would work. These days that is most likely home and work for for most people. When you are outside of wi-fi coverage it will just switch to regular cell service similar to VM coverage (the have an agreement with Sprint for cell coverage when not in WiFi). For some people that are typically covered this could be a great model. If you are always on the road and visiting new places this would not be of much benefit.

VM is owned by Sprint and uses Sprint's network. While VM phones do not roam like Sprint phones, VM's coverage and reception is just as good as a Sprint phone when using Sprint's network. This does not include the Sprint 4G WiMax phones, however, Sprint does not own the WiMax network and uses Clear's network for their 4G WiMax service.
Sprint, VM, and Boost CDMA phones all use the same Sprint network for voice calls. My LG Optimus V has worked fine for me for voice calls, but in my case Sprint has decent coverage in my area. The 3G speeds are not that great, but they work fine for emails, which is the main reason I need the 3G coverage for the phone. Web surfing is hit or miss, and I do not use the phone for video - I have several HDTV's in my house for that purpose.
Sure VM is for consumers concerned about costs and consumers who do not want to be trapped in a 2 year contract, but it works fine for a good number of their subscribers. There are no bubbles to be burst; most people know what level of service they are going to get when they go the prepaid route.
BTW, while some people say the LG Optimus V is a "budget" phone, its counterparts are very popular contract and prepaid phones on other networks including T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. Some people do not want to dish out a lot of money just to get an Android phone, and the LG Optimus variations work fine for a lot of people.

Given the lackluster phones Virgin has put out recently, it's ever decreasing 3G service and upcoming throttling, I'm running out of reasons to stay with them. Having the 25$ plan isn't enough anymore. Time to get the T-Mobile prepaid through Walmart.
