haha, yep I was holding the wrong one. Its been awhile lol. OK the backup took and Im back to where I was. Thanks Blood I was just thinking the same as you said I will flash 2.4 then do the rest after i have booted it up once. Damn Im behind.... Im still pimping 2.3, No worries though cuz it still kicks butt like it always has :D

That sounds exactly right to me it is what I did to update to 2.5 and I retained all of my apps. The only thing missing was the theme. Try not wipeing Dalvik the first boot. Let it boot once then see if you have your apps after restoring data and then go back to CWM and wipe Dalvik.

Coolness. I gotta poke around some. I'm wondering if I somehow got the apps and the system files in the same directory tree. Been since the early '90 that I screwed around in 'nix. ;)

were you using a2sd or anything? if you were you gotta reflash the script after you got the rom installed and your data restored
 
Having troubles changing the charger_connection.ogg to a custom one. I replaced the file and deleted the old one but that keeps leaving me without one. Any help blood?
 
I hate to be a pain about this, but I feel it's important. A few posts ago I asked about details on the "Removed Apps", I'm kind of looking for detailed info about each one, answers like they are not important, they are nothing, doesnt satisfy my curiousity.

I have yet too see a good detailed list anywhere on the web, and I looked hard. I searched each one individually, but there does not seem to be any detailed info on most of them. Some are obvious, but others leave me wondering. If I don't have any detailed info about it, how do I know it's not something I want installed or not.

I thought this would go under the guide/removing apps guide/safe to remove, but there's nothing really there about it either, and it said it's not maintained. Plus I'm really talking about what was removed involving the CTMod's, but I think that covers what comes with the phone anyway. I want to know anyway, my brain's hungry for the info.

If anyone can please make a list with a quick-detailed info after each one, and what was removed, what was replaced in place of it in CTMod2.5. Or point me to a site that already has it. -thanks
 
Hi

Please can anyone assist me with a problem I have after I have tried to update my HTC Sensation with the new Android ICS 4.03 ICS.

After I have installed the required 3.24 firmware as well as the new OS, the phone goes into a restarting loop and never starts up. On restart it shows the white screen with the HTC logo, then looks like its going to load the OS showing the growing and shrinking gingerbread man, but never loads.

It hangs for a while, then the screen goes black and then it restarts, back to the HTC logo white screen.

Now I cant even revert to the previous ROM (ISC 4.01 with Sense 3.5) I had installed nor the factory fitted version that I orginally had.

Please can anyone assist me.

Another reason I'm asking is just to clear up a few things, I searched about dun.apk, and I read on another site that this is for Bluetooth stuff, and without it, it could cause problems, and also when I reinstalled Maps.apk I think it installed a bunch of other stuff I was not expecting. Things like that, details. I want to know about each one and what exactly they do etc.

dun usually stands for Dial Up Networking.
the only thing I would figure it would be be for is so that the phone can understand "modemspeak".

Im glad you posted that list i have taken some of the old stock apps like the gallery and camera and music player and readded them to my phone, i didnt to much care for CTs apps for these things im glad i was able to change them, a friend of mine sent me a google maps link and i reinstalled google maps but when i went to run a gps travel test to a friends house i got a text saying i didnt have enough money in my account (glad of that mistake) but does anyone know of a good gps program that wont take up much space? I use to use telnav...
 
So ran into another issue I just noticed, I don't have internet unless i'm connected to Wifi. When I went into phone info it says Service State in Service but under Mobile Network State it says Disconnected. I redl and reflashed 3.5 like blood had recommended for my camera not working.

Um pull down your notification bar and make sure the up and down arrows are selected, I just tested it on my phone it turns data off if its not selected, kind of stupid to put on there in my opinion but not enough of a bother to stop using CT :D

Thanks, is it just as easy to remove an app you readded by deleting it from system/app or is it a bit more complex?
 
OK. Right after I did a fresh install of the CTMod and the Kernel I went into cwm and did a backup. As long as that still works the same with the ctmod then I can mess around with reinstalling system apps to see what effect it has, the one's no one is sure about. Once I know everything for certain, then I can get my perfect install done. If there is such a thing. Thanks.
 
Bloodawn, I guess this would be more steered towards you, I don't mean for this to sound the wrong way or question you. I still have concern about some removed apps, if some rely on others, things like that.

One I looked up is InputEventApp.apk, seems like no matter where I read about it nobody knows for certain what it's actually for. You stated above that you don't know either. So I'm curious if you made this Mod and felt it was ok not to include it, what do you base your decisions upon?

I read that the InputEventApp.apk might have something to do with the touchscreen and finger touches to it, maybe even connected to the calendar too. But on that forum, they were not even sure.

I'm just wondering about some of these apps that were removed, mostly all the ones you are not sure of yourself that you listed above. If they are actually needed for things and if other things rely on them being installed at all.

I've had some wierd things happen here and there, and I don't know if it's all related or not. One thing that happened that never happed before was my phone rebooted on it's own out of nowhere. Just once.

Also, what is the difference between reinstalling some of them into system/app compared to just downloading them from the market, as an example: Maps.apk, Talkback, voicesearch, voicedialer, etc. (just to name a few) ?

I got this info from someone at xda, and I thought I'd share it here in case anyone is interested. Just a few details about stuff I've been asking about. When I read words like "Not safe to remove" and "I wouldn't", it gets me worried and thinkin. Even if it's just another opinion. I myself wouldn't know.

KeyBoardSlideUpCounter.apk-Counts the number of times the Keyboard is opened. -Not safe to remove.

Keytracer.apk-Traces keys for the multi-touch function.I seen people remove it without problems. I wouldn't.

Dun.apk-Dial-Up Networking over Bluetooth. If you plan to tether, do not remove.

Lcdtest.apk-It finds dead pixels on your screen.

I have done a search with root explorer for all the mentioned apk files and my phone is missing them and everything works just fine have had no errors or problems, did anyone think that with it running a different kernal that it does not need the above files to run right?

CTMod has been around for 4ish months and had 9 versions bro. If a app that I removed was required or important I added it back a long time ago.

All those apps you mention(and pretty much everything else I removed) are is just shit that either Samsung or Sprint added to the phone. None of them are a part of Android and none of them are required for the phone. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them like the keyboard ones were used by Carrier IQ when it was on the phone.

The difference between adding apps manually and getting them from the market is the market apps are the newest version, the stock ones are old
